Article Abstract

We assumed that self-control capacity, self-efficacy, and self-esteem would enable students to keep attentional control during tests. Therefore, we hypothesized that the three personality traits would be negatively related to anxiety-impaired cognition during math examinations. Secondary school students (N = 158) completed measures of self-control capacity, self-efficacy, and self-esteem at the beginning of the school year. Five months later, anxiety-impaired cognition during math examinations was assessed. Higher self-control capacity, but neither self-efficacy nor self-esteem, predicted lower anxiety-impaired cognition 5 months later, over and above baseline anxiety-impaired cognition. Moreover, self-control capacity was indirectly related to math grades via anxiety-impaired cognition. The findings suggest that improving self-control capacity may enable students to deal with anxiety-related problems during school tests.

Rapid and efficient screening of foodborne pathogens is crucial for preventing bacterial spread and food poisoning. However, developing a multi-detection method that is easy to operate, offers good stability, and achieves high efficiency remains an enormous challenge. Existing multiplexed nucleic acid detection methods suffer from complex designs, leading to complicated operations, and non-robust sample introduction, causing primer/probe crosstalk and false-positive results.

The timing of microbial inoculation is a decisive factor influencing both the efficiency and quality of green waste (GW) composting. This study evaluated the effects of applying a self-developed lignocellulose-degrading compound microbial inoculum at different composting phases (mesophilic, thermophilic, and cooling) compared to a commercial Effective Microorganisms agent. Thermophilic-phase inoculation (T2) was most effective by enhancing the complementary metabolic functions between strains, thus establishing an efficient lignocellulose degradation system.

Effective removal of ethylene (CH) during fruit and vegetables storage and transport remains a critical challenge for post-harvest preservation. Although S-scheme heterojunctions can improve charge separation and redox capacity for ethylene degradation, their efficiency is still restricted by limited carrier transfer and sluggish oxygen activation. Here, we rationally designed a novel 2D/2D SnNbO/BiMoO monolayer S-scheme heterojunction integrated with Pt co-catalyst to address these limitations.

Neural stem cells (NSCs) are multipotent stem cells with self-renewal capacity, able to differentiate into all neural lineages of the central nervous system, including neurons, oligodendrocytes, and astrocytes; thus, their proliferation and differentiation are essential for embryonic neurodevelopment and adult brain homoeostasis. Dysregulation in these processes is implicated in neurological disorders, highlighting the need to elucidate how NSCs proliferate and differentiate to clarify the mechanisms of neurogenesis and uncover potential therapeutic targets. MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are small, post-transcriptional regulators of gene expression involved in many aspects of nervous system development and function.
