Objectives: To assess patterns across 21 countries in dentists' thresholds for initiating operative treatment of active non-cavitated carious lesions and to evaluate the influence of caries risk, clinician characteristics, and geographic variation on decision-making in accordance with current guidelines.

Methods: A cross-sectional, vignette-style web-based survey was conducted between June and October 2023 across 21 countries. A standardized questionnaire, comprising theoretical radiographic scenarios of occlusal and approximal active non-cavitated carious lesions at four progressive stages (E1,E2,EDJ,D1), was distributed to general dentists and specialists.

Centre of Methods and Policy Application in the Social Sciences, Faculty of Arts and Education, University of Auckland, Auckland, New Zealand.

Background: Growing concern surrounds the risk of neurodegenerative diseases in high-level collision sports, but research on Rugby Union's connection to these diseases is limited.

Objective: This study sought to examine the long-term neurodegenerative disease risk associated with participation in high-level Rugby Union ('rugby'), utilising whole-population administrative records.

Methods: This retrospective cohort study in New Zealand compared males born between 1920 and 1984 who were active in high-level (provincial or higher) rugby between 1950 and 2000 (n = 12,861) with males from the general population (n = 2,394,300), matched by age, ethnicity, and birthplace.

September 2025

First Nations Cancer and Wellbeing Research Program, Faculty of Health, Medicine and Behavioural Sciences, School of Public Health, The University of Queensland, Brisbane, Queensland, Australia.

Objective: To quantify costs incurred by the health system for hospital episodes and emergency department (ED) presentations for pancreatic cancer patients within the first three years after diagnosis in Queensland, Australia.

Study Settings And Design: Using a linked administrative dataset, CancerCostMod, which includes cancer diagnoses from the Queensland Cancer Registry (1st July 2011-30th June 2015) and linked Queensland Health Admitted Patient Data Collection and ED Information Systems records (1st July 2011-30th June 2018), we assessed costs for adults diagnosed with primary pancreatic cancer (International Classification of Diseases, 10th Revision: C25). Costs (in Australian dollars) were assigned using national public costs and private hospital charge datasets for the relevant year.
