Nanfeng orange is a world famous fruits, but its quality changes remarkably with the producing area. The present paper studied the contents of heavy metal mineral elements and microelements in soil planting Nanfeng orange by ICP-MS/ICP-AES and in order to find the dominant factors that affect the quality of Nanfeng orange in soil. The results showed that the contents of B, P, K, Mg and Ca, especially B, P and K were much higher in soil where the quality of Nanfeng orange is palatable than those where Nanfeng orange is unpalatable; but the contents of Fe, Mn, Si, Cu and Zn were lower in soil where the quality of Nanfeng orange is palatable than those where Nanfeng orange is unpalatable. These data indicate that B, P, K, Mg and Ca, especially B, P and K, affect the quality of Nanfeng orange significantly.

In the present study, a novel technology called intermittent solvent-free microwave extraction (ISFME), which integrates intermittent microwave treatment with solvent-free extraction, was proposed. Taking Nanfeng citrus peel as the research object, the extraction efficiency and composition of its essential oil were evaluated and compared with conventional hydrodistillation (HD) and solvent-free microwave extraction (SFME). Results from single-factor experiments and response surface method optimization indicate that the optimal parameters for SFME are a power of 660 W, a duration of 20 min, and a water content of 60%, yielding an essential oil output of 3.

This original work investigated the optical properties and Monte-Carlo (MC) based simulation of light propagation in the flavedo of Nanfeng tangerine (NF) and Gannan navel orange (GN) infected by Penicillium italicum. The increase of absorption coefficient (μ) at around 482 nm and the decrease at around 675 nm were both observed in infected NF and GN during storage, indicating the accumulation of carotenoids and loss of chlorophyll. Particularly, the μ in NF varied more intensively than GN, but the limited differences of reduced scattering coefficient (μ') were detected while postharvest infection.

Considering the huge economic loss caused by postharvest diseases, the identification and prevention of citrus postharvest diseases is vital to the citrus industry. In 2018, 16 decayed citrus fruit from four citrus varieties-Satsuma mandarin (), Ponkan ( Blanco cv. Ponkan), Nanfeng mandarin ( cv.

Background: Like sweet orange (Citrus sinensis), tangerine (Citrus reticulata) is another citrus crop grown widely throughout the world. However, whether it shares a common mechanism with sweet orange in forming a given mastication trait is still unclear. In this study, three 'Nanfeng' tangerine cultivars, 'Yangxiao-26' ('YX-26') with inferior mastication trait, elite 'YX-26' with moderate mastication trait and 'Miguang' ('MG') with superior mastication trait, were selected to investigate the formation mechanism of mastication trait.
