Considering the huge economic loss caused by postharvest diseases, the identification and prevention of citrus postharvest diseases is vital to the citrus industry. In 2018, 16 decayed citrus fruit from four citrus varieties-Satsuma mandarin (), Ponkan ( Blanco cv. Ponkan), Nanfeng mandarin ( cv. nanfengmiju), and Sugar orange ( Blanco)-showing soft rot and sogginess on their surfaces and covered with white mycelia were collected from storage rooms in seven provinces. The pathogens were isolated and the pathogenicity of the isolates was tested. The fungal strains were identified as based on their morphological characteristics and phylogenetic analyses using the internal transcribed spacer regions (ITS), translation elongation factor 1-α gene ), and beta-tubulin () gene sequences. The strains could infect wounded citrus fruit and cause decay within two days post inoculation, but could not infect unwounded fruit. To our knowledge, this is the first report of citrus fruit decay caused by in China.

Large-scale anaerobic treatment involves a high risk of antibiotic pollution in anaerobically digested (AD) biosolids, which hinders the efficient utilization of farmland AD biosolids. Herein, a process for the in situ removal of antibiotics from AD biosolids using ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid disodium salt dihydrate as the release agent synergized with sodium persulfate oxidation is reported. The developed process was used to remove antibiotics from actual AD biosolids.

Abscisic acid (ABA) and calcium respectively work as crucial plant hormones and second signalling molecules in the regulation of fruit development and quality formation, including the sugar content and flavour quality. However, the regulatory mechanisms of fruit sugar accumulation arising from the interaction between ABA and calcium have not yet been fully elucidated. Here, we show that the application of ABA or calcium enhances sugar accumulation in sweet orange (Citrus sinensis) fruit, accompanied by upregulation of the expression level of tonoplast sugar transporter 2 (CsTST2), which mediates the transport of sugars into the vacuole.

Purpose: SARS-CoV-2 infection may lead to a worse prognosis in COVID-19 patients by inducing syncytia formation which implies intercellular transmission and immune evasion. Hesperidin (HSD) and hesperetin (HST) are two citrus flavonoids that demonstrate the potential to interfere with spike/human angiotensin-converting enzyme-2 (hACE2) binding and show an inhibitory effect in the SARS-CoV-2 pseudovirus internalization model.
