Skeletal Stability of Occlusal Plane Rotational Orthognathic Surgery: A cephalometric analysis.

Background: This study describes the long-term skeletal outcomes of occlusal plane rotational orthognathic surgery, shifting from traditional maxillomandibular complex (MMC) advancement or setback by tailoring the direction and magnitude of rotation based on clinical and occlusal characteristics.

Methods: Patients undergoing MMC rotation via Le Fort I osteotomy and bilateral sagittal split ramus osteotomy were divided into four groups reflecting distinct occlusal and clinical characteristics: Group A (Class III malocclusion, posterior impaction with clockwise rotation), Group B (cleft-related Class III malocclusion, anterior lengthening with clockwise rotation), Group C (Class II malocclusion with sleep apnea, posterior lengthening with counterclockwise rotation), and Group D (Class II malocclusion with vertical maxillary excess, anterior impaction with counterclockwise rotation). Cephalometric landmarks were analyzed preoperatively (T0), immediately postoperatively (T1), and 3 years postoperatively (T2).

Adagrasib versus docetaxel in KRAS-mutated non-small-cell lung cancer (KRYSTAL-12): a randomised, open-label, phase 3 trial.

This study was conducted to identify obesity status, body shape perception, and attempts at popular diet techniques, and to reveal the relationship between satisfaction with popular diet techniques and various factors such as body shape perception, body mass index (BMI), distorted body shape perception, and interest in weight loss etc. This survey was conducted from April to September 2024 with 1,486 female college students in Seongnam. Following results were obtained.

Late-Onset Crizotinib-Associated Renal Cysts With Subsequent Regression Following Dose Reduction: A Case Report.

Crizotinib, an anaplastic lymphoma kinase (ALK)/ROS1/c-MET inhibitor, improves outcomes in ALK-positive non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) but can cause crizotinib-associated renal cysts (CARCs), a rare yet clinically relevant adverse effect. We report a case of a 68-year-old Korean male who developed complex renal cysts after 4 years of crizotinib therapy. Radiologic findings initially raised suspicion for either an abscess or a neoplastic lesion, leading to surgical resection.

Selonsertib is an apoptosis signal-regulating kinase 1 inhibitor (ASK1i) that attenuated the decline in creatinine-based estimated GFR in humans with type 2 diabetes and kidney disease but increased the rate of acute kidney injury. This study explored the individual and combined kidney effects of selonsertib and the antihyperglycemic sodium-glucose cotransporter 2 inhibitor (SGLT2i) dapagliflozin in Western diet-fed male Akita mice, a murine model of early type 1 diabetes mellitus showing signs of systemic but no kidney inflammation. ASK1i reduced elevated plasma levels of proinflammatory cytokines/chemokines (IL-6, MCP1/CCL2, KC/CXCL1, and IP-10/CXCL10) without significantly changing hyperglycemia, glomerular hyperfiltration, and albuminuria or affecting the blood glucose and glomerular hyperfiltration-lowering effect of SGLT2i.

Effects of sotagliflozin on kidney and cardiac outcome in a hypertensive model of subtotal nephrectomy in male mice.

Dual inhibition of sodium glucose cotransporters 1 and 2 (SGLT1/SGLT2) by sotagliflozin protects the kidney and heart in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) and chronic kidney disease (CKD). To gain mechanistic insights, the current study aimed to establish a murine model of hypertensive CKD that shows cardio-renal protection by sotagliflozin. Since protection by SGLT2 inhibitors can be diabetes-independent, a nondiabetic murine model of subtotal nephrectomy with angiotensin II infusion-facilitated hypertension was followed for 7 weeks.

However, multicenter studies on the clinicopathologic dataset and treatment outcomes, using a large-scale dataset, have not been conducted. Western diet exacerbates a murine model of Balkan nephropathy.

Aristolochic acid (AA) ingestion causes Balkan nephropathy, characterized by tubular injury and progression to chronic kidney disease (CKD). AA is taken up by proximal tubule cells via organic anion transport and induces p21-mediated DNA damage response, but little is known about dietary modulating factors. Western diet (WD) is rich in saturated fats and sugars and can promote metabolic disorders and CKD progression.

The purpose of this study is to compare and analyze the relationship between high school students' willingness to participate in a school rope jumping club, their satisfaction with participation, and their satisfaction with school life. To this end, data were collected from 411 male and female high school students participating in a school rope jumping club in Incheon, and the following results were derived through factor analysis, frequency analysis, -test, one-way analysis of variance, and multiple regression analysis. First, male students showed higher scores than female students in all participation willingness factors.

Predicting Lung Cancer in Korean Never-Smokers With Polygenic Risk Scores.

In the last few decades, genome-wide association studies (GWAS) with more than 10,000 subjects have identified several loci associated with lung cancer and these loci have been used to develop novel risk prediction tools for cancer. The present study aimed to establish a lung cancer prediction model for Korean never-smokers using polygenic risk scores (PRSs); PRSs were calculated using a pruning-thresholding-based approach based on 11 genome-wide significant single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs). Overall, the odds ratios tended to increase as PRSs were larger, with the odds ratio of the top 5% PRSs being 1.

Effects of arginine intake during weight training on blood variables.

This experiment studied the effect of arginine intake on blood pressure and blood variables during weight training in 20 men in their 20s. The resistance exercise program was performed 3 times a week at 60% of one repetition maximum for 8 weeks. The arginine intake group consumed 1,000 mg of arginine 2 tablets per day before weight training for 8 weeks.

Development and validation of reverse-transcription cross-priming amplification-based lateral flow assay for the detection of infectious hematopoietic necrosis virus.

Infectious hematopoietic necrosis virus (IHNV) severely and lethally infects salmonid fish, including Atlantic salmon (Salmo salar) and rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) worldwide. Rapid and accurate viral detection is crucial for preventing pathogen spread and minimizing damage. Although several IHNV detection assays have been developed, their analytical and diagnostic performances have not been evaluated and field usability assessments have not been completely validated.

Programmed system for fatigue life prediction of excavator turntables based on multi-body dynamics and finite element analysis.

This study focuses on predicting mechanical fatigue in excavator turntables, critical components susceptible to failure due to variable operational loads. While conventional methods like finite element analysis(FEA) and multiaxial fatigue criteria have been used, they are limited by the complexity and cost of obtaining real operational load spectra. To address this challenge, our research presents a comprehensive approach that integrates multi-body dynamics modeling, finite element analysis, and MATLAB-based fatigue life prediction systems.

Background: Innovative technologies with surgical navigation have been used for enhancing surgical accuracies for zygomaticomaxillary complex (ZMC) fractures and offers advantages in precision, accuracy, effectiveness, predictability, and symmetry improvement. Moreover, augmented reality (AR) navigation technology combines virtual reality, 3-dimensional (3D) reconstruction, and real-time interaction, making it ideal for bone tissue operations. Our study explored the usefulness and clinical efficacy of AR technology in intraoperative guidance for reducing ZMC fractures.
