Fat embolism is a critical medical emergency often resulting from long bone fractures or amputations, leading to acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS). The NOD-like receptor pyrin domain-containing 3 (NLRP3) inflammasome, a key regulator of innate immunity, is activated by reactive oxygen species and tissue damage, contributing to inflammatory responses. This study examines the role of NLRP3 in fat embolism-induced ARDS and evaluates the therapeutic potential of MCC950, a selective NLRP3 antagonist.

Background: Adolescent eating disorders represent a category of mental illness, marked by elevated mortality and morbidity rates and a significant adverse impact on the quality of life of both patients and their families. As one of the most important directions in eating disorders, adolescent eating disorders have significant research value, social value, and practical significance. Surprisingly, the overall research landscape in this domain has yet to be systematically explored through bibliometric analysis.

Background: Clindamycin hydrochloride, a first-line antibiotic for acne treatment, faces challenges with poor skin penetration due to its hydrophilicity and the barrier posed by the stratum corneum. To address this limitation, we developed gelatin-methacryloyl (GelMA) hydrogel-based biodegradable microneedles (GM-Clin-MN) for sustained intradermal drug delivery, thereby enhancing therapeutic efficacy.

Methods: The microneedle patches loaded with 1 wt% clindamycin hydrochloride were fabricated using PDMS molds and characterized through scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), and fluorescence microscopy.

Three new protoberberine alkaloids berpruines A-C (1, 2, and 4), along with six known compounds and one isolation artifact (9) from the 95 % EtOH extract of roots of Berberis pruinosa. Their structures were determined by the comprehensive analyses of the spectroscopic data (1D NMR, 2D NMR, HRESIMS, and CD) and physicochemical properties, and berpruine C (4) as the first example of 2,3,9,10,12 pentasubstituted protoberberine alkaloid from plants. Compounds 4, 5, 7, and 10 exhibited significant in vitro antimalarial activities with IC values of 5.

Purpose: Subthreshold depression (SD) is a highly prevalent mental health condition and a key precursor in major depressive disorder. Internet-based cognitive behavioral therapy (ICBT) effectively treats SD in clinical settings, but the neuromechanisms behind its success are not fully understood. This study aimed to examine changes in intrinsic brain activity in SD and their further alterations after ICBT intervention.

Background: Uncertainty in illness (UI) and fear of progression (FoP) are significant psychological challenges for lung cancer patients. Coping styles and social support are critical mediators, influencing patients' ability to manage the emotional and psychological burden of UI and FoP. However, limited research has explored the chain mediation effect of these factors on the relationship between UI and FoP, particularly among Chinese lung cancer patients.

Ten undescribed eudesmane sesquiterpenoids dobinins AB-AJ (1-10) were isolated from Dobinea delavayi, and their structures were identified by extensive spectroscopic data analyses. Dobinin AB (1) is the first sesquiterpenoid alkaloid isolated from Anacardiaceae. The in vitro antimalarial activities against Plasmodium falciparum 3D7 and lipid-lowering activities of all compounds were evaluated.

Agroforestry (AF) systems are widely implemented in degraded habitats owing to their potential for ecological restoration. However, the mechanisms by which different levels of biodiversity-taxonomic diversity (TD) and functional diversity (FD)influence ES provisioning along degradation gradients remain unclear. This study examined three habitat types in the karst region of southern China: non-degraded (KND), potentially lightly degraded (PKD), and moderately to heavily degraded (MKD).

Purpose: Patients with subthreshold depression (sD) carry a significant risk of developing major depressive disorder. However, few studies focus on the influence of Internet-based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (ICBT) on brain network, particularly among Chinese undergraduates. This study aims to conduct resting-state functional MRI (rs-fMRI) to explore the effects of ICBT on neurofunctional network.

Pancreatic β cell loss by cellular stress contributes to diabetes pathogenesis. Nevertheless, the fundamental mechanism of cellular stress regulation remains elusive. Here, it is found that elevated zinc transportation causes excessive cellular stress in pancreatic β cells in diabetes.

Juvenile traumatic experiences can lead to adult cognitive impairments, including learning deficits and increased anxiety risk. Dysfunction of the hippocampus is crucial in stress-induced behavioral disorders, and recent evidence suggests that disrupted chloride homeostasis through the chloride transporter NKCC1 may alter GABAergic signaling and contribute to neuropathology. This study investigates the role of NKCC1 in long-term hippocampal dysfunction induced by juvenile immobilization (J_IMO).

Background: This study aims to assess anxiety severity among patients with and to elucidate the predominant psychological factors, informing the development of targeted anxiety management strategies.

Methods: The cross-sectional study recruited 421 GDM patients via convenience sampling from Guangdong Province, China. Self-administered questionnaires, including the Pregnancy-related Anxiety Scale, Simplified Coping Style Questionnaire, Type D Personality Scale, Perceived Social Support Scale, and General Self-Efficacy Scale, were utilized to gather data.

Bone graft absorption and infection are the major challenges to guided bone regeneration(GBR), yet the GBR membrane is neither osteogenic nor antibacterial. Hence, we followed sono-piezo therapy strategy by fabricating an electrospun membrane dispersed with boron nitride nanotubes. The PLLA/Gelatine/PDA@BNNT (PGBT) membrane has improved mechanical and biocompatible properties and generate piezovoltages of 130 mV when activated by ultrasound stimulation under 100 mW/cm without extra polarization.

DS-Cav1, SC-TM, and DS2 are distinct designer pre-fusion F proteins (pre-F) of respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) developed for vaccines. However, their immunogenicity has not been directly compared. In this study, we generated three recombinant vaccines using the chimpanzee adenovirus vector AdC68 to express DS-Cav1, SC-TM, and DS2.

Background/objective: Little is known about the rates of rheumatic disease diagnosis among children during the COVID-19 pandemic. We examined the impact of the pandemic on the diagnosis of juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA) in the United States.

Methods: We performed a historical cohort study using US commercial insurance data (2016-2021) to identify children aged <18 years without prior JIA diagnosis or treatment in the prior ≥12 months.
