The CONSORT Extension for Chinese Herbal Medicine Formula 2017 (CONSORT-CHM Formula 2017) has established a reporting standard for randomized controlled trials (RCTs) of Chinese Herbal Medicine Formula (CHMF) interventions; however, its adherence and implications for the design and execution of study design remain ambiguous. It is necessary to evaluate the level of compliance with the CONSORT-CHM Formula 2017 in RCTs conducted over the past 5 years, and to determine the reporting quality of clinical trials in this field. First, a systematic search is conducted for RCTs on CHMF in EBM Reviews, Allied and Complementary Medicine (AMED), Embase, Ovid-MEDLINE(R), Wanfang data, China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), VIP Chinese Medical Journal Database (VIP) and Chinese Biomedical Literature (CBM) database, that encompassed CHMF interventional RCTs published from 1 January 2018 to 8 June 2022, with language restriction to English or Chinese.

Background: Programmed death ligand-1 (PD-L1) has a known association with the prognosis of human cancers because of its ability to alter tumor immune surveillance via its interaction with PD-1. We questioned whether expression of PD-L1 in tumor cells could directly promote tumor growth and invasiveness in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC).

Methods: Real-time reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) was performed to evaluate PD-L1 messenger RNA (mRNA) expression in lung tumors.

Article Synopsis
  • - Non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), particularly lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD), is closely linked to inflammation, with EGFR mutations being key targets for treatment using tyrosine kinase inhibitors.
  • - A study of 277 LUAD patients in Taiwan looked at the relationship between IL-17A genetic polymorphisms and EGFR mutation status, finding that certain IL-17A SNPs weren’t linked to EGFR mutations but smoking habits influenced susceptibility to mutations.
  • - The research indicated that specific IL-17A variants were associated with advanced cancer stages and lymphatic invasion, and the presence of IL-17 receptor expressions was linked to poor outcomes, particularly in smokers or those with high tumor-infiltr

Src homology region 2 (SH2)-containing protein tyrosine phosphatase 2 (SHP2) is ubiquitously expressed in cytoplasmic localization, which in turn confers tumor malignancy and poor prognosis in various human cancers. YAP1 interacts with SHP2 to promote translocation of SHP2 to nucleus, which consequently promotes Wnt target activation. However, the oncogenic role of the nuclear localization of SHP2 in human cancers remains unclear.
