Blood transfusions play a critical role in breast cancer management, particularly in addressing perioperative blood loss and chemotherapy-induced anemia. However, emerging evidence suggests that transfusions may adversely affect oncologic outcomes by inducing transfusion-related immunomodulation (TRIM) and altering the tumor microenvironment (TME). TRIM suppresses cytotoxic immune responses, potentially facilitating tumor progression-especially in aggressive subtypes such as triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) and HER2-positive cancers.

The cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2)/prostaglandin E2 (PGE2) pathway plays a pivotal role in breast cancer (BC) progression by promoting immune suppression, tumor growth, and metastasis. PGE2 mediates these effects through EP receptors (EP1-EP4), suppressing anti-tumor immunity while fostering an immunosuppressive tumor microenvironment (TME). This includes the recruitment and activation of tumor-associated macrophages (TAMs), dendritic cells (DCs), cancer-associated fibroblasts (CAFs), myeloid-derived suppressor cells (MDSCs), and regulatory T cells (Tregs), ultimately impairing cytotoxic T lymphocyte and natural killer (NK) cell function.

Inflammatory pathways such as nuclear factor-kappa B (NF-κB) and signal transducer and activator of transcription 3 (STAT3), and cyclooxygenase 2 (COX-2) promote tumor progression and reduce radiosensitivity. RT activates pro-inflammatory cytokines and upregulates immune checkpoints including programmed death 1 (PD-1) and cytotoxic T-lymphocyte-associated antigen 4 (CTLA-4), which contribute to immune suppression and treatment failure.

This study aimed to investigate the molecular mechanisms through which dietary salt affects blood pressure and cholesterol homeostasis. We established a hypertension and hypercholesterolemia model via feeding a high salt diet (8% NaCl, HSD) to Dahl salt-sensitive (SS) rats for 5 weeks. Clinically, the accumulation and high orientation of collagen fibrils were observed in cancerous tissue, which occurred not only at the location of invasion but also at 10-20 cm from the tumor. Studies indicated that the invasion of cancer cells could be guided by the oriented collagen fibrils, even in a dense matrix characterized by difficulty degradation.

The tricarboxylic acid (TCA) cycle is an essential interface that coordinates cellular metabolism and is as a primary route determining the fate of a variety of fuel sources, including glucose, fatty acid and glutamate. The crosstalk of nutrients replenished TCA cycle regulates breast cancer (BC) progression by changing substrate levels-induced epigenetic alterations, especially the methylation, acetylation, succinylation and lactylation. Long non-coding RNAs (lncRNA) have dual roles in inhibiting or promoting energy reprogramming, and so altering the metabolic flux of fuel sources to the TCA cycle, which may regulate epigenetic modifications at the cellular level of BC.

The gamma coronavirus infectious bronchitis virus (IBV) is known to cause an acute and highly contagious infectious disease in poultry. Here, this study aimed to investigate the impact of virulent or avirulent IBV infection on the avian host by conducting proteomics with data-independent acquisition mass spectrometry (DIA-MS) in the kidneys of IBV-infected chickens. The results revealed 267, 489, and 510 differentially expressed proteins (DEPs) in the chicken kidneys at 3, 5, and 7 days postinfection (dpi), respectively, when infected with the GD17/04 strain, which is a highly nephrogenic strain and belongs to the 4/91 genotype.

Objective: A prediction model of benign and malignant differentiation was established by magnetic resonance signs of parotid gland tumors to provide an important basis for the preoperative diagnosis and treatment of parotid gland tumor patients.
Methods: The data from 138 patients (modeling group) who were diagnosed based on a pathologic evaluation in the Department of Stomatology of Jilin University from June 2019 to August 2021 were retrospectively analyzed. The independent factors influencing benign and malignant differentiation of parotid tumors were selected by logistic regression analysis, and a mathematical prediction model for benign and malignant tumors was established.
The type I interferon (IFN-I) is a critical component of the innate immune responses, and Coronaviruses (CoVs) from both the Alphacoronavirus and Betacoronavirus genera interfere with the IFN-I signaling pathway in various ways. Of the gammacoronaviruses that mainly infect birds, little is known about how infectious bronchitis virus (IBV), evades or interferes with the innate immune responses in avian hosts since few IBV strains have been adapted to grow in avian passage cells. Previously, we reported that a highly pathogenic IBV strain GD17/04 has adaptability in an avian cell line, providing a material basis for further study on the interaction mechanism.
