Purpose: This study aimed to develop an intelligent individualized nutrition management (iNutrition) applet for postdischarge gastric cancer patients following gastrectomy based on the Health Action Process Approach (HAPA) theory and using the design thinking method.
Methods: We developed the iNutrition applet using the design thinking method, including the following phases: (1) "empathize and define," which focused on understanding patients' needs and establishing the goals of the iNutrition applet through qualitative interviews; (2) "ideate and prototype," during which literature reviews and multidisciplinary interactive workshops to conceptualize innovative solutions were conducted and a fully functional iNutrition applet was developed; and (3) "test," during which the iNutrition applet was evaluated through usability testing.
Results: Based on qualitative interviews with 15 patients, we determined that the iNutrition applet would need to satisfy patients' needs in the following areas: adjustment to postoperative anatomical changes, evidence-based knowledge, communication with peers, consultation with medical staff, tailored nutritional plans, coping plans, and needs for technology.
Objective: To evaluate the effects of a nurse-led individualized mHealth nutrition intervention on nutritional status, nutritional intake, cognitive beliefs related to nutritional behavior, weight loss, blood parameters, gastrointestinal symptoms, and quality of life in post-discharged gastric cancer patients following gastrectomy.
Design: This was an assessor-blinded parallel-arm randomized controlled trial with a repeated-measures design.
Setting(s): The participants were recruited from inpatient gastric surgery units of two tertiary hospitals in Guangzhou, China.
Background: There are no established standard colonoscopy surveillance protocols for patients after curative rectal cancer resection. We investigated the predictive factors for colorectal neoplasms during surveillance colonoscopies to identify patients who are at risk of developing metachronous neoplasms in the residual colorectum.
Methods: This was a single-center, retrospective study that included patients with diagnosis of rectal carcinoma who had undergone curative resection from October 2012 to June 2018.

Chemotherapy based on oxaliplatin (OXA) is the first-line treatment for advanced colorectal cancer (CRC), and acquired resistance to OXA is the main reason for clinical treatment failure in CRC. To search for compounds that can reverse OXA resistance, we screened a small molecule inhibitor drug library and identified a drug, Raddeanin A (RA), that enhanced the anticancer effect of OXA. Using human CRC cell lines, CRC organoid models, and subcutaneous tumorigenic studies, we determined that RA inhibits the proliferation of CRC cells by promoting apoptosis and inducing cell cycle arrest.

After they received periodontal initial therapy or antimicrobial drug treatment, was there any improvement in endothelial function during short- and long-term followups?
Method: Relevant randomized controlled trials and clinical trials up to 30th June 2024 were identified and retrieved from electronic databases including PubMed, Cochrane Library, Web of Science and CNKI databases, with periodontitis therapy, periodontal disease and endothelial function as the keywords. The weighted (WMD) or standardized mean difference (SMD) was calculated using a fixed- or random-effect model and assessed heterogeneous results.
Zinc finger protein 180 (ZNF180) is a multifunctional protein that interacts with nucleic acids and regulates various cellular processes; however, the function of ZNF180 in colorectal cancer (CRC) remains unclear. The present study investigated the role and function of ZNF180 in CRC, and aimed to reveal the underlying molecular mechanism. The results revealed that ZNF180 was downregulated in CRC tissues and was associated with a good prognosis in patients with CRC.

Transition metal coordination polymers (TM-CP) are promising inexpensive and flexible electrocatalysts for oxygen evolution reaction in water electrolysis, while their facile synthesis and controllable regulation remain challenging. Here we report an anodic oxidation-electrodeposition strategy for the growth of TM-CP (TM=Fe, Co, Ni, Cr, Mn; CP=polyaniline, polypyrrole) films on a variety of metal substrates that act as both catalyst supports and metal ion sources. An exemplified bimetallic NiFe-polypyrrole (NiFe-PPy) features superior mechanical stability in friction and exhibits high activity with long-term durability in alkaline seawater (over 2000 h) and anion exchange membrane electrolyzer devices at current density of 500 mA cm.

Background: Intestinal fibrosis is a common complication in inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), which still lacks of reliable markers and therapeutic options. Cellular senescence has been considered an important mechanism of intestinal fibrosis, but the underlying molecular link remains elusive.
Methods: Tissues were stained using α-smooth muscle actin (α-SMA), fibronectin, and collagen I as markers of myofibroblastic differentiation.
Eukaryotic initiation translation factor 3 subunit h (EIF3H) plays critical roles in regulating translational initiation and predicts poor cancer prognosis, but the mechanism underlying EIF3H tumorigenesis remains to be further elucidated. Here, we report that EIF3H is overexpressed in colorectal cancer (CRC) and correlates with poor prognosis. Conditional Eif3h deletion suppresses colorectal tumorigenesis in AOM/DSS model.

The large-scale deployment of CO electroreduction is hampered by deficient carbon utilization in neutral and alkaline electrolytes due to CO loss into (bi)carbonates. Switching to acidic media mitigates carbonation, but suffers from low product selectivity because of hydrogen evolution. Here we report a crown ether decoration strategy on a Cu catalyst to enhance carbon utilization and selectivity of CO methanation under acidic conditions.

The electrochemical reduction of carbon dioxide into multi-carbon products (C ) using renewably generated electricity provides a promising pathway for energy and environmental sustainability. Various oxide-derived copper (OD-Cu) catalysts have been showcased, but still require high overpotential to drive C production owing to sluggish carbon-carbon bond formation and low CO intermediate (*CO) coverage. Here, the dilemma is circumvented by elaborately devising the OD-Cu morphology.

Accurate estimation of gestational age (GA) is vital for identifying fetal abnormalities. Conventionally, GA is estimated by measuring the morphology of the cranium, abdomen, and femur manually and inputting them into the classic Hadlock formula to assess fetal growth. However, this procedure incurs considerable overhead and suffers from bias caused by the operators, yielding suboptimal estimations.
