Bawei Chenxiang Powder(BCP), first documented in the Tibetan medical work Four Medical Classics, has been widely applied in clinical practices in Tibetan and Mongolian medicines since its development. It has the effect of clearing the heart heat, calming the mind, and inducing resuscitation. On the basis of BCP, multiple types of formulae have been developed, such as Bawei Yiheyi Chenxiang Powder, Bawei Rang Chenxiang Powder, and Bawei Pingchuan Chenxiang Powder, which are widely used for treating cardiovascular and respiratory diseases.

Syringa pinnatifolia, belonging to the family Oleaceae, is a species endemic to China. It is predominantly distributed in the Helan Mountains region of Inner Mongolia and Ningxia of China. The peeled roots, stems, and thick branches have been used as a distinctive Mongolian medicinal material known as "Shan-chen-xiang", which has effects such as suppressing "khii", clearing heat, and relieving pain and is employed for the treatment of cardiovascular and pulmonary diseases and joint pain.

Urban environments face numerous challenges, including an increase in impervious surfaces, intensification of heat island effect, and severe air pollution, which all affect urban vegetation phenology. We reconstructed the time series of MOD13Q1 enhanced vegetation index data for the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region during 2002-2021, extracted the vegetation phenology index based on the dynamic threshold method, and examined the dyna-mics of vegetation phenology under a urbanization gradient. The results showed that the start of growing season (SOS) occurred earlier in the southeastern region of Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei, the end of growing season (EOS) was later in the central and southwestern regions, and the growing season length (GSL) was extended in the central and southeastern regions.

The L1 protein serves as the principal capsid component of human papillomavirus (HPV). All globally commercialized HPV vaccines utilize virus-like particles (VLPs) formed through L1 protein self-assembly. Quantitative analysis of L1 protein concentration constitutes a critical parameter for evaluating the antigenic potency of HPV vaccines.

Article Synopsis
  • - The text discusses the synthesis of elongated lanthanide core topologies, specifically focusing on four new rod-shaped dysprosium phosphonate clusters created by using lanthanide 1-naphthylmethylphosphonates and different terminated pyrazinyl hydrazones.
  • - These dysprosium clusters are surrounded by terminal co-ligands known as pentadentate bis-chelates, and a sodium ion is used as a cation template to help shape the clusters.
  • - The elongation of these rod-shaped clusters notably affects their magnetic relaxation behavior, changing it from a one-step process to more complex multi-step processes based on the specific cluster structure.

The hippocampus is one of the most commonly studied brain regions in the context of depression. The volume of the hippocampus is significantly reduced in patients with depression, which severely disrupts hippocampal neuroplasticity. However, antidepressant therapies that target hippocampal neuroplasticity have not been identified as yet.

An accurate and non-invasive diagnosis of the clinical stage is critical for effectively managing liver cirrhosis. This study aimed to identify serum metabolite biomarkers and clinical features that may reliably predict high-risk cirrhosis. This cross-sectional study recruited 94 cirrhotic patients (70 for identification cohort, 24 for validation cohort) from Minhang Hospital Affiliated with Fudan University between 2018 and 2021, who were analyzed by targeted quantitative metabolomics technique.

Construction and agricultural waste recycling have gained more and more attention recently as renewable resources. Straw and construction waste, both of which are widespread in northern Fujian, were investigated in this research. The orthogonal test was used to investigate the effects of recycled aggregate, straw, and glazed hollow beads on the mechanical and thermal properties of recycled insulation concrete.

Article Synopsis
  • - The study investigates the potential of Xiaoyao San (XYS), a traditional Chinese medicine, in treating depression and metabolic disorders, focusing on its effect on adiponectin and related biological mechanisms.
  • - Researchers used chronic social defeat stress (CSDS) to create a depression model in mice and assessed various behavioral tests, finding that XYS improved depression-like behavior and glucose tolerance while enhancing serum adiponectin levels.
  • - XYS was shown to restore neuronal health in the hypothalamus and increase the expression of adiponectin receptor 1 (AdipoR1), suggesting that adiponectin plays a crucial role in the treatment effects observed.

  • Visceral leishmaniasis-related hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis (VL-HLH) is a rare and severe infection that can lead to high mortality rates, especially in nonendemic regions, where timely diagnosis is crucial for effective treatment.
  • A case study involving two young girls with repeated fevers and severe symptoms revealed that despite initial treatments for suspected malignancies, they were ultimately diagnosed with VL-HLH through bone marrow examinations that identified specific pathogens.
  • The study emphasizes the importance of bone marrow morphology in diagnosing VL-HLH and recommends that such examinations be conducted early and repeatedly in young patients to avoid misdiagnosis and improve treatment outcomes.

  • Autophagy is crucial in the development of depression and influences GLUT4 expression in the hypothalamus.
  • This study investigates how Xiaoyaosan, a traditional remedy, affects autophagy and GLUT4 in a mouse model of depression.
  • Results indicate that Xiaoyaosan successfully reverses the depressive behaviors and alters autophagy and GLUT4 levels in hypothalamic neurons.

The rapid increase in globalization has fostered the emerging ecological challenges to halt human civilization, substantially highlighting the need for environmental management. The study's primary objective is to analyze the impact of environmental perception of corporate social responsibility (CSR) and attitude toward environmental CSR on sustainable tourism development while considering the mediating role of national park identification goals and employee pro-environmental behavior. The data was collected from the 338 employees working in the Chinese tourist firms'.

Background: Many studies about depression have focused on the dysfunctional synaptic signaling in the hippocampus that drives the pathophysiology of depression. Radix Bupleuri has been used in China for over 2000 years to regulate liver-qi. Extracted from Radix Bupleuri, Saikosaponin D (SSD) is a pharmacologically active substance that has antidepressant effects.

Extracellular vesicles (EVs) are lipid bilayer-delimited particles released by cells, which play an essential role in intercellular communication by delivering cellular components including DNA, RNA, lipids, metabolites, cytoplasm, and cell surface proteins into recipient cells. EVs play a vital role in the pathogenesis of depression by transporting miRNA and effector molecules such as BDNF, IL34. Considering that some herbal therapies exhibit antidepressant effects, EVs might be a practical delivery approach for herbal medicine.

Article Synopsis
  • The study investigates the effectiveness of circulating fibrinogen to pre-albumin ratio (FPR) and albumin to fibrinogen ratio (AFR) in diagnosing early-stage colorectal cancer (CRC) and identifying high relapse risk patients.
  • The research included over 1,400 participants with varying stages of CRC and benign conditions, using multiple analytical methods to evaluate the diagnostic performance of FPR and AFR.
  • Results indicate that FPR outperforms AFR in differentiating early-stage CRC from benign conditions and effectively identifies stage II patients at high risk of relapse, suggesting its potential utility in guiding treatment decisions.
