Passivation of nanoscale zero valent iron (nZVI, Fe) impaired its longevity while black TiO (b-TiO) suffered from restricted optical properties. Using a facile approach, a novel Z-scheme heterojunction catalyst (Fe@CQDs-TiO(b)) of nZVI decorated with carbon quantum dots (CQDs) implanted into b-TiO was designed. Characterization results revealed the optical potential of the passivation coating of nZVI.

Background: TUB-like protein 4 (TULP4) is one of the distant members of tubby family proteins, whose function remains largely unknown. In the present study, we intend to identify the role of TULP4 in schizophrenia from human samples and animal models.
Methods: Whole-exome sequencing was used to detect the four schizophrenia families collected.

Both physical activity and cognitive training are common interventional strategies that can mitigate the decline in cognitive and physical performance. This review aims to (1) to evaluate the effects of Physio-Cognitive Dual-task Training (PCDT) intervention on cognition, physical performance, activities of daily living (ADL) and health-related quality of life (HRQoL) in pre-ageing and older adults with neurocognitive disorders, (2) explore the effects of covariates on intervention outcomes.

However, blast disease caused by Magnaporthe orzae can result in more than a 30% loss in rice yield in epidemic years. Although some major resistance genes bolstering blast resistance have been identified in rice, their stacking in elite cultivars usually leads to yield penalties.

Similar efforts have focused on optimizing the design features of percutaneous VAD drivelines with the aim to prevent infection, omitting however a thorough look on the implant-skin interactions that govern local tissue reactions. Here, we utilized an integrated approach for the biophysical modification of transdermal implants and their evaluation by chronic sheep implantation in comparison to the standard of care VAD drivelines.

Nucleosome is the basic subunit of chromatin, consisting of approximately 147bp DNA wrapped around a histone octamer, containing two copies of H2A, H2B, H3 and H4. A linker histone H1 can bind nucleosomes through its conserved GH1 domain, which may promote chromatin folding into higher-order structures. Therefore, the complexity of histones act importantly for specifying chromatin and gene activities.

Ionic liquids provide versatile pathways for controlling the structures and properties of quantum materials. Previous studies have reported electrostatic gating of nanometer-thick flakes leading to emergent superconductivity, insertion or extraction of protons and oxygen ions in perovskite oxide films enabling the control of different phases and material properties, and intercalation of large-sized organic cations into layered crystals giving access to tailored superconductivity. Here, we report an ionic-liquid gating method to form three-dimensional transition metal monochalcogenides (TMMCs) by driving the metals dissolved from layered transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDCs) into the van der Waals gap.

Possessing an excellent performance, this hybrid's cultivation promotes the development of the grouper industry. Its male parent, the giant grouper, possesses the fastest growth and the largest body size among all coral-reef-dwelling fish.

By introducing the photothermal effect into a peroxymonosulfate (PMS) coupled photocatalysis system, tetracycline hydrochloride (TCH) degradation could be significantly enhanced using floating metal phthalocyanine@polyacrylonitrile (MPc@PAN) nanofiber mats. MPc@PAN nanofibers with different metal centers showed similar photothermal conversion performance but different activation energies for PMS activation, resulting in metal-center-dependent synergistic photothermal effects, i.

RNA-seq has shown that the DUSP6 and MAPK signaling pathways are associated with the production of high-quality brush hair (type III hair) in Yangtze River Delta white goats. However, there are few reports on the regulatory effects of DUSP6 expression on hair follicle stem cells (HFSCs) and cellular processes, as well as the underlying mechanism. Here, we investigated the effect of DUSP6 level in HFSCs and the molecular mechanism underlying the functional regulation of HFSCs by DUSP6.

Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), remains widely pandemic around the world. Animal models that are sensitive to the virus are therefore urgently needed to evaluate potential vaccines and antiviral agents; however, SARS-CoV-2 requires biosafety level 3 containment. To overcome this, we developed an animal model using the intranasal administration of SARS-CoV-2 pseudovirus.

The correlation between VV, plaque constituents, and the no-reflow phenomenon (NRP) in percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) remains elusive. We explored plaque constituents in iMap-intravascular ultrasound (iMap-IVUS) and NRP during PCI for VV lesions.

An excellent radiotherapy treatment plan is always based on a high-quality dose distribution map which is produced by repeated manual trial-and-errors of experienced experts. To accelerate the radiotherapy planning process, many automatic dose distribution prediction methods have been proposed recently and achieved considerable fruits.

Radiation therapy is a fundamental cancer treatment in the clinic. However, to satisfy the clinical requirements, radiologists have to iteratively adjust the radiotherapy plan based on experience, causing it extremely subjective and time-consuming to obtain a clinically acceptable plan. To this end, we introduce a transformer-embedded multi-task dose prediction (TransMTDP) network to automatically predict the dose distribution in radiotherapy.

Tumor initiation, progression, and response to therapies depend to a great extent on interactions between malignant cells and the tumor microenvironment (TME), which denotes the cancerous/non-cancerous cells, cytokines, chemokines, and various other factors around tumors. Cancer cells as well as stroma cells can not only obtain adaption to the TME but also sculpt their microenvironment through a series of signaling pathways. The post-translational modification (PTM) of eukaryotic cells by small ubiquitin-related modifier (SUMO) proteins is now recognized as a key flexible pathway.
