PD-1 restrains effective killing of cancer cells by the immune system and is predominantly located on the surface of T cells or other immune cells. However, cancer cells also express PD-1 to varying degrees, which is commonly associated with a poor prognosis. Here, we investigated the regulation and function of PD-1 expression in prostate cancer (PCa) and revealed the impact on the tumor microenvironment.

The present study aims to establish an effective high-throughput screening technique for accurate PCa diagnosis.
Methods: A large-scale cohort of 28,892 subjects was considered for inclusion in this study, and 1133 volunteers were finally selected, including 600 healthy controls, 160 patients diagnosed with other diseases of urinary system, 89 patients diagnosed with benign prostate hyperplasia (BPH), and 284 PCa patients.

Background: Only a few bladder cancer patients benefit from anti-programmed cell death protein 1/programmed cell death ligand 1 immunotherapy. The cluster of differentiation 47 (CD47) plays an important role in tumor immune evasion. CD47 is a highly glycosylated protein, however, the mechanisms governing CD47 glycosylation and its potential role in immunosuppression are unclear.

The relationship between metabolism and cancer is a major focus of current research, with an increasing number of studies highlighting the significant role of various metabolites in tumor cells, such as lactate, acetic acid, lysine, serine, tryptophan, palmitic acid, succinate, etc. These metabolites are involved in numerous biological processes within tumor cells, including transcription, translation, post-translational modification (PTM) of proteins, cell cycle regulation, and metabolism, thereby modulating tumor proliferation, migration, and drug resistance. Metabolite-mediated PTMs of proteins undoubtedly play a vital role in tumor cells, affecting both histones and non-histone proteins, covering modifications such as lactylation, crotonylation, acetylation, palmitoylation, and succinylation.

B7-H3 (CD276) is an immune checkpoint from the B7 family of molecules and is abnormally expressed in tumor cells as a co-inhibitory molecule to promote tumor progression. Within the tumor microenvironment (TME), B7-H3 promotes tumor progression by impairing the T cell response, driving the polarization of tumor-associated macrophages (TAMs) to M2 phenotype, and inhibiting the function of other immune cells. In addition, B7-H3 promotes tumor cell proliferation, migration, invasion, metabolism disorder, angiogenesis, and resistance to treatment to promote tumor progression through its non-immunological functions.

Recently, nuclear factor kappa-beta ligand (RANKL) inhibitors have garnered attention for their ability to inhibit osteoclast formation and bone resorption, as well as their potential to modulate immune functions and thereby enhance the efficacy of programmed cell death protein 1 (PD-1) inhibitor therapy.
Case Summary: We present a case of a patient with NPC who developed sternal stalk metastasis and multiple bone metastases with soft tissue invasion following radical chemoradiotherapy and targeted therapy.
Purpose: To compare intravesical instillation of gemcitabine and anthracyclines in the treatment of primary non-muscle-invasive bladder cancer (NMIBC), and to evaluate the effect of changing intravesical chemotherapy drugs on the the second recurrence of NMIBC.
Method: Patients with NMIBC who underwent transurethral resection of bladder tumor (TURBT) for the first time in our center from January 2014 to December 2023 were enrolled. Kaplan-Meier method was used to analyze the recurrence-free survival (RFS) and progression-free survival (PFS), and COX regression was used to analyze the risk factors for recurrence.
Purpose: Renal cell carcinoma (RCC) is a common malignancy, with patients frequently diagnosed at an advanced stage due to the absence of sufficiently sensitive detection technologies, significantly compromising patient survival and quality of life. Advances in cell-free DNA (cfDNA) methylation profiling using liquid biopsies offer a promising non-invasive diagnostic option, but robust biomarkers for early detection are current not available. This study aimed to identify methylation biomarkers for RCC and establish a DNA methylation signature-based prognostic model for this disease.

False changes discovered by quantitative proteomics reduce the trust of biologists in proteomics and limit the applications of proteomics to unlock biological mechanisms, which suppresses the application of proteomics techniques in the pharmaceutical industry more than it does in academic research. To remove false changes that arise during LC-MS/MS data acquisition, we evaluated the contributions of peptide abundance and number of unique peptides on reproducibility. Lower abundance and only one unique peptide have a higher risk of generating a higher coefficient of variation (CV), resulting in less accurate quantification.

Tibetan medicine is an essential part of Chinese medicine and has unique theoretical experience and therapeutic advantages. According to the development principle of inheriting the essence, sticking to the truth, and keeping innovative, the supervision department should give clear and reasonable guidance considering the characteristics of Tibetan medicine, establish a standard system for quality control, clinical verification and evaluation, and accelerate the research and commercialization of new drugs. In view of the needs of drug supply-side reform and the current situation of Tibetan medicine and new pharmaceutical research, we ponder and provide suggestions on the confusion faced by the current supervision of Tibetan drug registration, hoping to contribute to the supervision strategy of Tibetan drug registration and the high-quality development of Tibetan medicine industry.

Aim Of The Study: This study aimed to investigate the anti-arthritic effect of SW and its possible mechanisms of action.
Background: Quality control exerted great importance on the clinical application of drugs for ensuring effectiveness and safety. Due to chemical complexity, diversity among different producing areas and harvest seasons, as well as unintentionally mixed with non-medicinal parts, the current quality standards of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) still faced challenges in evaluating the overall chemical consistency.
Purpose: We aimed to develop a new strategy to discover potential quality marker (Q-marker) of TCM by integrating plant metabolomics and network pharmacology, using Periplocae Cortex (GP, the dried root bark of Periploca sepium Bge.
