Two novel pink-pigmented bacteria, designated strains MA0201 and ID0610, were isolated from a car air conditioning system. The isolates were Gram-stain-negative, aerobic, non-spore-forming, rod-shaped and facultatively methylotrophic. Cells of strains MA0201 and ID0610 are motile with polar flagella (lophotrichous) and a polar flagellum (monotrichous), respectively.

Background: Femoral neck fracture is a rare condition among fractures in the pediatric population. However, its potential for grave complications such as avascular necrosis or severe limb length discrepancy warrants prompt diagnosis and management. Much effort has been made to assess fracture risk in young adolescents in relation to obesity, low vitamin D levels, or young age osteoporosis.

Chitinase-3-like protein 1 (CHI3L1) is a secreted glycoprotein involved in macrophage polarization, apoptosis, and inflammation, and carcinogenesis. The expression of CHI3L1 is significantly increased in various inflammatory and immunological diseases, such as rheumatoid arthritis, Alzheimer's disease, and atopic dermatitis. Several studies suggest that CHI3L1 may be a viable therapeutic target for these diseases, given its ability to release various pro-inflammatory cytokines, including interleukin (IL)-1β, IL-4, IL-6, IL-13, tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α), and interferon-γ (IFN-γ).

Cellular DNA is wrapped about an octamer composed of four histone proteins forming the fundamental unit of chromatin structure, the nucleosome core particle (NCP). The intrinsically disordered tails of the histones serve as scaffolds for binding an array of proteins that regulate the fidelity of the genome and gene expression. A variety of posttranslational modifications (PTMs) on the tails have been characterized, including some that alter their overall charge; however, per-residue changes in tail electrostatic potentials for different PTMs have not been reported.

Background And Aims: It is unclear that which cardiometabolic risk factors (CMRFs) are significantly associated with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) development in metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD). We aimed to develop and validate a novel CMRF-based HCC risk prediction model in MASLD.
Methods: This multicenter cohort study recruited 77,677 MASLD patients from 20 medical centers in Korea and other Asian and Western countries (2004-2023).
A ferritin complex vaccine against porcine epidemic diarrhea virus (PEDV) was developed using an autodisplayed Fv-antibody library. The Fv-antibody represented the variable region of the heavy chain of IgG (V) and the Fv-antibody library was prepared by randomizing the complementarity determining region 3 (CDR3) of V. As the first step, four Fv-antibodies with a binding affinity to the receptor binding domain (RBD) of PEDV spike protein (SP) were screened from the Fv-antibody library.

Therefore, we developed a reporting guideline tailored specifically for acupuncture case reports, building upon the CAse REport (CARE) statement. A multidisciplinary group of international experts including clinicians, researchers and methodologists was convened to draft the initial checklist in accordance with the methodology recommended by the Enhancing the QUAlity and Transparency Of health Research (EQUATOR) network.

Thus, neoadjuvant or adjuvant strategies can be important to improve outcomes. Previous efforts with sorafenib in the adjuvant setting failed to show significant benefits in recurrence-free survival (RFS) or overall survival.

The aim of this study was to evaluate the surgical outcomes, therapeutic efficacy, and psychological satisfaction of the Le Fort partial colpocleisis (LFC) procedure, an obliterative surgical treatment option, in elderly women with advanced apical prolapse, based on the 20-year surgical experience of a single surgeon. A retrospective cohort study was conducted on 81 women aged 60 and older who underwent LFC for advanced apical prolapse at a single institution from 2006 to 2025. Baseline characteristics, comorbidities, perioperative outcomes, complications, and patients' satisfaction were analyzed.

Chitinase-3-like 1 (CHI3L1) is a key factor in regulating inflammatory processes and development of rheumatoid arthritis (RA) since is highly produced by synoviocytes and macrophages in the development RA. Collagen-induced arthritis (CIA) model is the most widely used because its pathogenesis is similar to human RA. Thus, we aimed to investigate if anti-CHI3L1 antibody could reduce RA development in the CIA model.

Characterized by high mortality rates due to late-stage diagnosis and frequent development of resistance to traditional therapies, NSCLC is a significant clinical challenge. This study investigated the anti-cancer effects of SH003 on NSCLC cells, focusing on its role in modulating receptor tyrosine kinase (RTK) signaling pathways.

Ultrasound-guided acupuncture is a novel technique that utilizes ultrasonography to visualize needle placement in real-time, enhancing precision and reducing adverse events. In South Korea, the dual medical system has led to disputes over Korean Medicine doctors' use of biomedical devices. However, in 2022, the Supreme Court ruled that Korean Medicine doctors' use of ultrasound devices is not illegal, enabling broader clinical application.

However, robust clinical evidence supporting the effectiveness of treatments and interventions for fatigue in COVID-19 survivors is lacking. This pilot clinical trial aims to assess the safety and efficacy of Kyungok-go, a herbal preparation targeting fatigue, in patients after recovering from COVID-19.

Introduction: Despite curative surgery for lung cancer, 30% to 55% of patients experience recurrence or death, which highlights the importance of adjuvant treatment. Adjuvant osimertinib therapy effectively prolongs disease-free and overall survival in patients with lung cancer harboring common epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) mutations. To identify potential candidates for adjuvant osimertinib, it is crucial to understand the rates and identify risk factors of recurrence.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFLiquid-liquid phase separation (LLPS) involving intrinsically disordered protein regions (IDRs) is a major physical mechanism for biological membraneless compartmentalization. The multifaceted electrostatic effects in these biomolecular condensates are exemplified here by experimental and theoretical investigations of the different salt- and ATP-dependent LLPSs of an IDR of messenger RNA-regulating protein Caprin1 and its phosphorylated variant pY-Caprin1, exhibiting, for example, reentrant behaviors in some instances but not others. Experimental data are rationalized by physical modeling using analytical theory, molecular dynamics, and polymer field-theoretic simulations, indicating that interchain ion bridges enhance LLPS of polyelectrolytes such as Caprin1 and the high valency of ATP-magnesium is a significant factor for its colocalization with the condensed phases, as similar trends are observed for other IDRs.

Various acupuncture clinical trials have been conducted on migraine; however, the conclusions remain controversial especially when acupuncture was compared with sham acupuncture. Sham acupuncture is sometimes performed at the same acupuncture points used for verum acupuncture despite the evidence on acupuncture point specificity. Four databases were searched for sham acupuncture or waiting list-controlled acupuncture trials for migraine on December 25, 2023.
