(1) Background: People living with spinal cord injury (SCI) face numerous challenges in their lives in terms of health conditions, everyday activity, and participation in society, which are not fully recognized. To address such issues, a community survey with 125 questions for people living with SCI was conducted and the response rates, population characteristics, health and functioning problems are reported. (2) Methods: The survey questionnaire comprised 125 questions on SCI characteristics, health conditions, activities, participation, and environmental and personal factors.

The use of laparoscopic liver resection has rapidly increased. According to two international consensus meetings, certain resection methods are already considered standard procedures for liver resection, especially for small malignant tumors located on the liver surface or in the anterolateral segments of the liver. However, further studies and international consensus meetings are required for laparoscopic procedures to be accepted as standard procedures for highly complex hepatectomies, major hepatectomies, anatomical resections, and laparoscopic donor hepatectomies.

Background: Single-incision laparoscopic liver resection represents an evolution in minimally invasive liver surgery. However, its safety, feasibility, and advantages over conventional multiport laparoscopic liver resection remain incompletely defined. This study aimed to evaluate perioperative and oncologic outcomes of single-incision laparoscopic liver resection in left-sided anatomical liver resections.

Background: Allergic rhinitis is a prevalent immune disorder with a significant impact on quality of life and socioeconomic burden. Korean Medicine treatments such as herbal medicine and acupuncture are widely utilized for allergic rhinitis due to clinical effectiveness and patient preferences. In particular, herbal decoctions, a key component of Korean Medicine treatment for allergic rhinitis, offer personalized treatment but pose challenges for randomized controlled trials due to the difficulty of placebo development.

Signaling by norepinephrine (NE) via adrenergic receptors (ARs) mediates attention, yet the underlying molecular mechanisms are largely unknown. AMPA receptors (AMPARs) form a complex with βARs, G, adenylyl cyclase, and protein kinase A (PKA) to augment AMPAR phosphorylation and, thereby, surface expression. We show that signaling by intracellular βARs is required for these effects and two different forms of long-term potentiation (LTP) that depend on βAR signaling and phosphorylation of the AMPAR GluA1 subunit on S845.

Background: E-cigarettes are the most popular nicotine product among youth in the USA and the majority of young people use products with flavours such as mint, menthol, fruit and candy. Between December 2019 and December 2022, seven US states and the District of Columbia put in place restrictions on the sale of flavoured e-cigarettes. Studies of e-cigarette flavour restrictions have found varied policy effects across different populations.

Background: Melanoma, the deadliest form of skin cancer, exhibits resistance to conventional therapies, particularly in advanced and metastatic stages. Mitochondrial pathways, including oxidative phosphorylation and mitochondrial translation, have emerged as critical drivers of melanoma progression and therapy resistance. This study investigates the mitochondrial proteome in melanoma to uncover novel therapeutic vulnerabilities.

Background: Surgical consent forms convey critical information; yet, their complex language can limit patient comprehension. Large language models (LLMs) can simplify complex information and improve readability, but evidence of the impact of LLM-generated modifications on content preservation in non-English consent forms is lacking.

Objective: This study evaluates the impact of LLM-assisted editing on the readability and content quality of surgical consent forms in Korean-particularly consent documents for standardized liver resection-across multiple institutions.

Introduction: Atopic dermatitis (AD) is often associated with gastrointestinal symptoms, including anorexia and alterations in the gut microbiome. A traditional East Asian herbal medicine (BJT; in Chinese, in Japanese) has been commonly used to manage AD and anorexia. This study aimed to evaluate the effects and safety of BJT in anorexic patients with AD and to investigate its therapeutic mechanism through gut microbiome analysis.

Reduced-port totally robotic pancreaticoduodenectomy (rpRPD) has been introduced to address limitations of conventional robotic pancreaticoduodenectomy (cRPD), particularly regarding assistant mobility and visualization. This study aimed to evaluate the clinical feasibility and procedural consistency of rpRPD in comparison with cRPD and laparoscopic pancreaticoduodenectomy (LPD). : We conducted a retrospective cohort study of patients who underwent pancreaticoduodenectomy between January 2015 and December 2024.

Objective: To establish benchmark cutoffs for robotic liver resection (R-LR), encompassing both major and minor resections, and to determine the impact of patient selection on outcomes.

Background: R-LR is a key advancement in minimally invasive liver surgery but lacks standardized benchmarks, especially for minor resections. While guidelines endorse R-LR, its role in optimizing outcomes remains unclear.

: Animal models are widely used in medical research, but most are limited to small or medium-sized species due to logistical constraints. However, pancreatic cancer research and surgical xenograft models require large animals with anatomical similarities to humans and minimal immune rejection. This study evaluates the feasibility of an operative immunodeficient pig model for patient-derived xenografts.

Deoxynivalenol (DON) is a widespread mycotoxin which contaminates several crops, including maize, wheat, and barley. In this study, we investigated the effects of orally administered DON on growth performance, blood biochemistry, histology, the gut microbiome, and metabolism in rats. Six-week-old rats, acclimatized for one week, were subjected to different dietary treatments for 42 days, as follows: CON (control): 0.

Background: Obesity is traditionally associated with poor outcomes. However, the recently emerging concept of the "obesity paradox" suggests that obese cancer patients have better survival rates than non-obese patients. While this phenomenon has been confirmed in several cancers, its relevance to pancreatic cancer remains unclear.
