: The Naples prognostic score (NPS), which incorporates inflammatory and nutritional indicators, is increasingly used as a prognostic score for various malignancies. Nonetheless, few studies have specifically evaluated the NPS as a prognostic factor for cervical cancer. This study aimed to assess the value of NPS at diagnosis as a predictor of cancer progression.

A sutureless, battery-free adhesive strip (SBF strip) is developed to integrate shape-memory-assisted mechanical approximation with impedance-matched electrical stimulation for enhanced tissue repair. The device incorporates a shape memory polymer (SMP) responsive at near-body temperature and a robust wet-adhesive interface (> 200 J m), enabling rapid attachment and uniform closure under mild heating (40 °C).

Among these, G4s are unique, in that their formation and stability are largely influenced by metal cations, such as Na+, K+, Ca2+, and Mg2+. These cations stabilize G4 structures, while also influencing their folding and biological activities.

The behavior of the cast-in-place continuously reinforced concrete (CRC) bus pad applied to bus stop pavement in a central bus-only lane was experimentally analyzed under environmental and moving vehicle loads, and the early-age performance of the CRC bus pad was evaluated using experimental data and finite element analysis results. Using various measurement sensors, the concrete slab strain, longitudinal steel bar strains, horizontal and vertical displacements, and crack behavior of the CRC bus pad due to environmental loads were measured, and the dynamic responses of the concrete slab and steel bars due to moving vehicle loads were also measured. Additionally, a method for converting strain gauge measurements of a cracked concrete slab to the strain of an uncracked concrete slab was also proposed.

However, when a solvent absorbs light, the resulting absorbance becomes lower and often negative because of the reduced number of solvent molecules due to the space taken by solute molecules. The solvent exclusion (SE) effect is problematic for accurate quantitation and analysis across various absorption spectroscopies, especially near the broad, strong water absorption peaks.

Objective: Numerous studies have identified various risk factors associated with Alzheimer's disease (AD). However, the experimental limitations of disease modeling make it challenging to directly interpret their effects. These limitations include constraints of postmortem samples, animal experiments, and challenges associated with brain tissue studies.

As the number of surface DBs increases, the lowest unoccupied level (LUL) associated with electron affinity (EA) decreases, resulting in a rise in the DBs' formation energy, indicating an unstable state and electron deficiency. Particularly in spinless DB states, only one localized lowest unoccupied surface state (LUSS) forms below the conduction band minimum (CBM).

Current adjuvant therapies focus on eliminating residual tumors but overlook the postsurgery tumor microenvironment (TME) on residual tumor growth, resulting in limited therapeutic efficacy.

This study aims to investigate the role of TIGIT in the immunosuppressive tumor environment and evaluate the potential of TIGIT blockade (αTIGIT) to enhance antitumor immune responses.
Methods: We analyzed public transcriptomic data to identify the expression patterns of TIGIT on T cells in breast cancer and its prognostic impact.

Polycarbonate (PC), a widely used thermoplastic, poses significant environmental challenges due to its persistence and the release of bisphenol A (BPA), a known xenoestrogen. Here, we report the isolation of Bacillus subtilis JNU01 (BsJNU01), capable of utilizing PC as its sole carbon source. Through transcriptomic analysis, we identified metallophosphoesterase from BsJNU01 (BsMPPE), the first reported metallophosphoesterase capable of degrading polycarbonate by catalyzing the hydrolysis of carbonate ester bonds.

Trichomes are tiny outgrowths on the plant epidermis that serve defensive purposes against various stresses. While the regulatory mechanisms underlying unicellular trichome development are well understood, those governing multicellular trichome formation remain largely unexplored. In this study, we reveal a new regulatory pathway involving the () and genes, which encode C2H2 zinc finger proteins that participate in multicellular trichome development in tomato ().

However, conventional processes involve complex procedures, high costs, and environmental issues. This study introduces the electrochemical upcycling of spent LiMnO (LMO) cathode material, incorporating pre-filtration (PF) and pre-reduction (PR) processes to enable its direct application in redox flow batteries (RFBs).

Thus, cellular transition from naïve-to-primed pluripotency recapitulates a drastic metabolic and cellular remodeling after implantation to adapt to changes in extracellular conditions. Here, we found that inhibition of AMPK occurs during naïve transition with two conventional inhibitors of the MEK1 and GSK3β pathways.

We evaluate the ability of machine learning to predict whether a hypothetical crystal structure can be synthesized and explain those predictions to scientists. Fine-tuned large language models (LLMs) trained on a human-readable text description of the target crystal structure perform comparably to previous bespoke convolutional graph neural network methods, but better prediction quality can be achieved by training a positive-unlabeled learning model on a text-embedding representation of the structure. An LLM-based workflow can then be used to generate human-readable explanations for the types of factors governing synthesizability, extract the underlying physical rules, and assess the veracity of those rules.

Serotonin is a neurotransmitter that is highly related to social affinity in animals and several studies have been documented that supplementation of tryptophan, which is a precursor of serotonin, can increase calmness of horses. This study aimed to assess the effect of tryptophan through soybean oil supplementation on serotonin concentrations and the behavior of horses.

In this study, a new chalcone, 1-(4-isopropylphenyl)-5-(6-methoxynaphthalen-2-yl)pent-1-en-3-one (INM), was synthesized via base condensation between nabumetone and cuminaldehyde. INM was subsequently identified and characterized by FT-IR, NMR spectroscopy (H and C), mass spectrometry, elemental analysis, X-ray diffraction, thermogravimetric analysis, and FESEM studies.

This study presents findings that demonstrate the possibility of simplifying neural networks by inducing multifunctionality through separate manipulation within a single material. Herein, two-terminal memristor W/ZnTe/W devices implemented a multifunctional memristor comprising a selector, synapse, and a neuron using an ovonic threshold switching material. By setting the low-current level (µA) in the forming process, a stable memory-switching operation is achieved, and the capacity to implement a synapse is demonstrated based on paired-pulse facilitation/depression, potentiation/depression, spike-amplitude-dependent plasticity, and spike-number-dependent plasticity outcomes.

While infrared (IR) transmission microscopy is a powerful label-free imaging modality capable of chemical quantification, its applicability to hydrated biological samples remains challenging due to the strong IR absorption by water. Traditional IR imaging of hydrated cells relies on powerful light sources, such as synchrotrons, to mitigate the light absorption by water.
