The human cerebral cortex is organized into functionally segregated but synchronized regions bridged by the structural connectivity of white matter pathways. While structure-function coupling has been implicated in cognitive development and neuropsychiatric disorders, it remains unclear to what extent the structure-function coupling reflects a group-common characteristic or varies across individuals, at both the global and regional brain levels. By leveraging two independent, high-quality datasets, we found that the graph neural network accurately predicted unseen individuals' functional connectivity from structural connectivity, reflecting a strong structure-function coupling.

Background: Adolescence is a pivotal stage for brain development and a critical window for the emergence and transition of self-injury thoughts and behaviours (SITBs). However, the genetic and neurobiological mechanisms underlying SITBs transition during this developmental period are poorly understood.

Aims: This study investigates associations among genetic predispositions, brain abnormalities and SITBs transition during adolescence, and identifies potential neurobiological and clinical mediators of genetic effects.

Related studies have revealed that the phonological features of depressed patients are different from those of healthy individuals. With the increasing prevalence of depression, objective and convenient early screening is necessary. To this end, we propose an automatic depression detection method based on hybrid speech features extracted by deep learning, dubbed as TTFNet.

Background: Grounded in the 24-Hour Activity Cycle framework, this study aimed to quantify dose-response thresholds for seven daily behaviors-sleep, napping, low to high intensity physical activity, sedentary time, and screen time-and to evaluate their associations with mental health problems and self-injurious thoughts or behaviors in Chinese adolescents.

Methods: Between 2022 and 2023, data were collected from 33,397 Chinese students to examine lifestyle patterns and mental health. Adjusted logistic regression estimated associations between behavioral categories and four mental-health outcomes, and generalized additive models captured dose-response relationships.

The phenomenon of costal pain of thoracic osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures (OVCFs) has been reported. However, to our knowledge, few reports with a larger sample size have analyzed the risk factors of costal pain of thoracic OVCFs. The aim of this study is to evaluate the risk factors of the costal pain in thoracic OVCFs patients.

The human cerebral cortex exhibits intricate interareal functional synchronization at the macroscale, with substantial individual variability in these functional connections. However, the spatial organization of functional connectivity (FC) variability across the human connectome edges and its significance in cognitive development remain unclear. Here, we identified a connectional axis in the edge-level FC variability.

Childhood maltreatment stands out as a pivotal risk factor for depression, with gene-by-environment interaction serving as a crucial mechanism. Here we perform genome-wide interaction analyzes of childhood maltreatment in the UK Biobank, integrating methylation evidence through colocalization analysis and identifying associated brain structure abnormalities from childhood to adulthood. A genome-wide significant genomic region interacting with childhood maltreatment is identified at 8p11.

Background Context: Previous studies have reported that postoperative residual pain of osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures (OVCFs) may be associated with thoracolumbar fasciitis. However, to our knowledge, few reports have analyzed the prevalence and risk factors of thoracolumbar fasciitis in OVCFs.

Purpose: To investigate the prevalence and identify the risk factors of thoracolumbar fasciitis in OVCFs.

Parkinson's disease (PD) is a complex progressive neurodegenerative disorder and the pathogenesis and treatment methods are unknown. This aim is to investigate the effects of long non coding RNA NEAT1 (LncRNA NEAT1) on 1-methyl-4-phenyl-1,2,3,6-tetrahydropyridine (MPTP)-induced Parkinson's disease (PD). Immunoprecipitation and western blot were used to search for the effects of LncRNA NEAT1 on PD.

Student mental health issues remain a significant global concern, imposing considerable health, social, and economic burdens. China has also published numerous national policies prioritizing this area. To further investigate the current prevention and intervention programs, we conducted a scoping review, searching six databases (three in English and three in Chinese) up to May 2024.

Background: The spatial layout of large-scale functional brain networks exhibits considerable inter-individual variability, especially in the association cortex. Research has demonstrated a link between early socioeconomic status (SES) and variations in both brain structure and function, which are further associated with cognitive and mental health outcomes. However, the extent to which SES is associated with individual differences in personalized functional network topography during childhood remains largely unexplored.

Background: The previous cross-sectional and prospective studies have reported that psychopathology was associated with the occurrence of psychotic-like experiences (PLEs). However, few of these studies have examined this longitudinal association considering the different developmental trajectories of PLEs, as well as the growth or changes of psychopathology over time.

Methods: Four waves PLEs and psychopathology assessments from Adolescent Brain Cognitive Development (ABCD) study were used.

Purpose: Engagement in self-injurious thoughts and behaviors (SITBs) is associated with low help-seeking intentions. Nevertheless, prior research has primarily relied on cross-sectional data, leaving uncertainties about the longitudinal dynamics between SITBs and help-seeking intentions. This study aims to investigate the longitudinal relationship between SITBs and help-seeking intentions for them.
