The goal of this study is to improve the quality and diversity of text paraphrase generation, a critical task in Natural Language Generation (NLG) that requires producing semantically equivalent sentences with varied structures and expressions. Existing approaches often fail to generate paraphrases that are both high-quality and diverse, limiting their applicability in tasks such as machine translation, dialogue systems, and automated content rewriting. To address this gap, we introduce two self-contrastive learning models designed to enhance paraphrase generation: the Contrastive Generative Adversarial Network (ContraGAN) for supervised learning and the Contrastive Model with Metrics (ContraMetrics) for unsupervised learning.

Place-based social-ecological systems research provides major opportunities to advance sustainability and often involves large, interdisciplinary groups. Researchers adopt various methodologies when studying landscapes, gathering a wide array of data such as socioeconomic information from households, ecological data from specific areas, and qualitative insights from interviews. To integrate these varied methods, we propose identifying social-ecological research units as shared anchor points for data collection across teams.

Nitro-oleic acid (OA-NO) is an endogenous peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor-γ (PPARγ) ligand and can activate this receptor under both physiological and pathological conditions. In this study, we explore the role and molecular mechanisms of OA-NO in maintaining blood-brain barrier (BBB) integrity and enhancing neurovascular function during ischemic stroke, with a particular emphasis on the activation of endothelial PPARγ signaling pathways. Endothelial cell-selective PPARγ conditional knockout (EC-PPARγ cKO) and wild-type (WT) mice underwent 1 h middle cerebral artery occlusion (MCAO) with 1-7 days of reperfusion.

E3 ubiquitin ligase is a key component of the ubiquitin-proteasome system, which is deeply involved in multiple aspects of plant growth and development, including in plant defence responses. POZ/BTB containing-protein1 (POB1) is a type of BTB-BACK domain-containing E3 ligase, which was previously reported to be a negative regulator of defence responses in multiple plant species. In this report, we identified MdPOB1-like (MdPOB1L) as a positive regulator in defence responses against Botryosphaeria dothidea by manipulating protein stability of MdNPR1, a master regulator in salicylic acid (SA) signalling pathway, in apple (Malus domestica).

Peri-implant diseases are characterized by the resorption of hard tissue and the inflammation of soft tissue. Epigenetics refers to alterations in the expression of genes that are not encoded in the DNA sequence, influencing diverse physiological activities, including immune response, inflammation, and bone metabolism. Epigenetic modifications can lead to tissue-specific gene expression variations among individuals and may initiate or exacerbate inflammation and disease predisposition.

The eukaryotic cytochrome P450 ferulate-5-hydroxylase (F5H), a membrane-bound protein, plays a critical role in lignin synthesis involved in the biosynthesis of 5-Hydroxyferulic acid (5-HFA) from ferulic acid, with 5-HFA offering enhanced antioxidant properties. However, there is challenging to engineer recombinants for 5-HFA synthesis by expressing F5H in Escherichia coli. In this work, we co-expressed F5H derived from Arabidopsis thaliana (AtF5H) and NADPH-dependent cytochrome P450 reductase (CPR) in E.
