Neurodevelopmental disorders (NDDs) remain poorly understood in adolescents, particularly in middle-income countries like China. To assess NDDs prevalence and their associations with health conditions among Chinese general junior high school students, data from the China Education Panel Survey (CEPS, 2013-2015) were used. A total of 8324 junior high school students were included.

This study presents a triple-channel panoramic imaging system without a central blind area based on bandpass filter and polarization technology, which can achieve the acquisition of dual-band and dual-polarization information. Compared to other multi-channel panoramic imaging systems without a central blind area, this design eliminates the front lens group, resulting in a significant reduction in assembly complexity and achieving overall aesthetic harmony of the product. The field of view (FOV) of the main, side, and front channels are 360×(60-96), 360×(22-60), and 360×(0-13), respectively.

We propose a dual-channel panoramic annular lens (PAL) utilizing freeform surface prisms, enabling visible light imaging and time-of-flight (TOF) dot matrix detection through a single lens, which solves the problems of relative position calibration and time consistency between TOF and the imaging lens. Based on freeform surface prisms, inspired by off-axis three mirror lenses and AR prisms, we replaced the relay lens group of PAL with two freeform surface prisms to achieve dual channel PAL with a large field of view (FoV) and small distortion. The imaging and TOF channels have the same FoV of 360° × (40° - 100°).

Rapid treatment of radioactive wastewater is critical for radiological medical diagnosis and therapy. An efficient yet cost-effective adsorbent capable of selectively removing radioactive nuclides is highly desired to meet the growing global demand for nuclear medicine. In this study, a simple one-step chemical grafting strategy was employed to directly synthesize a multi-site functional fiber containing quaternary ammonium chloride (-NRCl) and protonated secondary amine (-NH-).

In recent years, many secondary forests have been converted into artificial tree plantations in China to improve forest quality or increase timber production, which may influence soil microorganisms and nutrient cycling. By sequencing and analyzing microbial 16S rRNA genes in the soils of secondary Acacia mangium forests and 5-year-old and 10-year-old Eucalyptus urophylla plantations that were converted from clear-cutting secondary A. mangium forests in South China, we aimed to evaluate the effects of the forest management of clear-cutting and replacing secondary forests on soil prokaryotic communities.

Background: Cardiovascular diseases are the number one cause of death globally, making cardiac magnetic resonance image segmentation a popular research topic. Existing schemas relying on manual user interaction or semi-automatic segmentation are infeasible when dealing thousands of cardiac MRI studies. Thus, we proposed a full automatic and robust algorithm for large-scale cardiac MRI segmentation by combining the advantages of deep learning localization and 3D-ASM restriction.

Individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) have long been reported to exhibit atypical pain experiences. Chronic physical pain is a significant comorbidity in ASD, leading to substantial burdens on daily functioning and quality of life. This study aims to examine the potential associations between ASD and chronic physical pain, including its specific types.

Silver-loaded silica gel is widely used in spent fuel reprocessing plant due to its high adsorption efficiency of iodine and low influence of humidity and NO. This study proposed a novel method for the disposal of iodine-loaded silver-silica gel. The elution of iodine using NaS solution, the leaching of silver through HNO solution.

Background: The identification of non-tuberculosis (TB) mycobacterial (NTM) infection remains a significant challenge. This study aims to investigate the diagnostic value of multicolour nested real-time fluorescence quantitative nucleic acid amplification detection technology [Xpert (MTB)/rifampicin (RIF)] in bronchoalveolar lavage fluid (BALF) acid-fast smear-positive cases.

Methods: Between 1 January 2017 and 30 June 2022, 365 patients who underwent fibreoptic bronchoscopy and had positive acid-fast smears of BALF were examined using Xpert MTB/RIF.

Quartz-enhanced photoacoustic spectroscopy (QEPAS) is a promising technique for trace gas sensing, offering advantages such as compact size and high sensitivity. However, noise remains a critical factor limiting detection sensitivity. In this study, a novel approach was proposed to leverage noise for the enhancement of weak QEPAS signals.

Background: Empathizing and systemizing abilities are respectively associated with key developmental outcomes like intelligence, executive function, and autistic traits, particularly in typically developing (TD) children. However, how specific cognitive styles-defined by the balance between empathizing and systemizing-relate to these outcomes remains unclear.

Methods: We conducted a latent profile analysis on 502 TD children aged 6‒12 years to identify cognitive styles based on multiple dimensions of empathizing and systemizing, measured by the Children's Empathy Quotient and Systemizing Quotient.

Background: Early screening for autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is crucial, yet current assessment tools in Chinese primary child care are limited in efficacy.

Objective: This study aims to employ machine learning algorithms to identify key indicators from the 20-item Modified Checklist for Autism in Toddlers, revised (M-CHAT-R) combining with ASD-related sociodemographic and environmental factors, to distinguish ASD from typically developing children.

Methods: Data from our prior validation study of the Chinese M-CHAT-R (August 2016-March 2017, n = 6,049 toddlers) were reviewed.

  • The study aimed to analyze the clinical characteristics and trends of human leptospirosis in Wenzhou, China, from 2020 to 2022 to better inform prevention and control measures.
  • A total of 41 cases were reported during this period, with the highest incidence in 2021 and a notable concentration of cases occurring in the late summer to fall, primarily affecting males in the farming sector.
  • The findings indicate a moderate level of leptospirosis incidence, emphasizing the need for improved monitoring of host animals and populations to prevent future outbreaks.

Flavin-dependent halogenase (FDH) is highly prized in pharmaceutical and chemical industries for its exceptional capacity to produce halogenated aromatic compounds with precise regioselectivity. This study has devised a multi-enzyme self-assembly strategy to construct an effective and reliable in vitro coenzyme cycling system tailored for FDHs. Initially, tri-enzyme self-assembling nanoclusters (TESNCs) were developed, comprising glucose dehydrogenase (GDH), flavin reductase (FR) and FDH.

Vestibular hair cells are mechanoreceptors critical for detecting head position and motion. In mammals, hair cell loss causes vestibular dysfunction as spontaneous regeneration is nearly absent. Constitutive expression of exogenous ATOH1, a hair cell transcription factor, increases hair cell regeneration, however, these cells fail to fully mature.

In this study, based on the self-assembly strategy, we fused CipA with carbonyl reductase LXCAR derived from Leifsonia xyli by gene coding, and successfully performed the carrier-free immobilization of LXCAR. The immobilized enzyme was then characterized using scanning electron microscope (SEM), dynamic light scattering (DLS) and fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR). Compared with the free enzyme, the immobilized LXCAR exhibited a 2.
