Objective: RET (rearranged during transfection) kinase, as a transmembrane receptor tyrosine kinase, is a therapeutic target for several human cancer such as non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) and thyroid cancer. Pralsetinib is a recently approved drug for the treatment of RET-driven NSCLC and thyroid cancers. A single point mutation G810C at the C-lobe of the RET kinase causes pralsetinib resistance to this non-gatekeeper variant.

Background: In China, the quantity of physical activity differs from that in Western countries. Substantial uncertainty remains about the relevance of physical activity for cancer subtypes among Chinese adults.
Objective: This study aimed to investigate the association between total daily physical activity and the incidence of common types of cancer.
Background: Lower respiratory tract infections, including pneumonia, have been associated with short-term increased risk of cardiovascular disease (CVD). However, there is only limited evidence about the long-term impact of pneumonia on the cardiovascular system beyond one year.
Methods: We conducted a prospective matched cohort study based on data from the China Kadoorie Biobank study of 482,017 adults who were enrolled between June 25, 2004, and July 15, 2008, and were free of CVD at baseline and before pneumonia hospitalization.
Cooking is practiced worldwide and is associated with multiple social, economic and environmental factors; thus, understanding cooking-related health effects would have broad public health implications. Here, we show that after an average 9.9 years of follow-up for 510,106 Chinese adults, always cooking with clean fuels was associated with lower risks of all-cause (0.

Background: Tobacco smoking is estimated to account for more than 1 million annual deaths in China, and the epidemic continues to increase in men. Large nationwide prospective studies linked to different health records can help to periodically assess disease burden attributed to smoking. We aimed to examine associations of smoking with incidence of and mortality from an extensive range of diseases in China.

Background: Exercise is an affordable and practical strategy to alleviate several detrimental outcomes from the aging process, including sarcopenia. The elucidation of molecular mechanisms to alleviate sarcopenia is one of the most important steps towards understanding human aging. Although microRNAs (miRNAs) regulate muscle growth, regeneration and aging, the potential role of exercise-mediated miRNAs during the prevention and rehabilitation of skeletal muscle atrophy upon exercise interventions remains unclear.

Medical students are vulnerable to sleep disorders, which could be further exaggerated by poor dormitory environment and roommate behaviour. However, there is little evidence of whether dormitory environment intervention is effective in improving the sleep quality of medical college students in developing countries. The present study aimed to evaluate the effects of a comprehensive multidomain intervention on dormitory environment and roommate behaviour among medical college students in China.

Introduction: Previous studies based on a single measure of fasting plasma glucose (FPG) showed an inconsistent conclusion about the association between FPG and osteoporosis risk. Not accounting for time-varying and cumulative average of FPG over time could bias the true relation between FPG and osteoporosis. Our study aims to investigate the association between the trajectories of FPG and osteoporosis risk for non-diabetic and diabetic populations.

Mutations to the OTOF gene are among the most common reasons for auditory neuropathy. Although cochlear implants are often effective in restoring sound transduction, there are currently no biological treatments for individuals with variants of OTOF. Previous studies have reported the rescue of hearing in DFNB9 mice using OTOF gene replacement although the efficacy needs improvement.

The aim was to develop a dual-task convolutional neural network (DtCNN) model for the simultaneous staging of liver fibrosis and inflammation activity using 2D-SWE.
Methods: A total of 532 patients with chronic hepatitis B (CHB) were included to develop and validate the DtCNN model.

Background: Previous EWASs (Epigenome-Wide Association Studies) have reported hundreds of blood pressure (BP) associated 5'-cytosine-phosphate-guanine-3' (CpG) sites. However, their results were inconsistent. Longitudinal observations on the temporal relationship between DNA methylation and BP are lacking.

Background: Few studies have explored the prevalence and risk factors of brain infarcts (BI) detected by magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) in China. The purpose was to evaluate the prevalence and risk factors of brain infarcts (BI) detected by magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) in 1.4 million Chinese adults.

Red vinasse acid has a distinct flavor and a vivid red color that are directly tied to the intricate metabolic activities of microorganisms that produce it. In this study, metagenomic technology was used to mine its functional genes and examine the microbial diversity of red vinasse acid. The findings revealed the identification of 2,609 species, 782 genera, and 63 phyla of microorganisms, and the dominant genus was .

Background: The associations between blood lipids and DNA methylation have been investigated in epigenome-wide association studies mainly among European ancestry populations. Several studies have explored the direction of the association using cross-sectional data, while evidence of longitudinal data is still lacking.
Results: We tested the associations between peripheral blood leukocytes DNA methylation and four lipid measures from Illumina 450 K or EPIC arrays in 1084 participants from the Chinese National Twin Registry and replicated the result in 988 participants from the China Kadoorie Biobank.
Purpose: Different populations may exhibit differences in dietary intakes, which may result in heterogeneities in diet-disease associations. We compared intakes of major food groups overall, by sex, and by socio-economic status (SES) (defined as both education and income), between participants in the China Kadoorie Biobank (CKB) and the UK Biobank (UKB).
Methods: Data were from ~ 25,000 CKB participants who completed a validated interviewer-administered computer-based questionnaire (2013-2014) and ~ 74,000 UKB participants who completed ≥ 3 web-based 24-h dietary assessments (2009-2012).
Background: Little is known about the effects of maintaining healthy sleep patterns on frailty transitions.
Methods: Based on 23,847 Chinese adults aged 30-79 in a prospective cohort study, we examined the associations between sleep patterns and frailty transitions. Healthy sleep patterns included sleep duration at 7 or 8 h/d, without insomnia disorder, and no snoring.
Background: Epidemiological evidence on the relation between fish consumption and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is limited, especially among Chinese.
Objectives: The aim was to explore the prospective association between fish consumption and COPD among a large population-based Chinese cohort.
Methods: The China Kadoorie Biobank recruited over 0.

In clinical medicine, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is one of the most important tools for diagnosis, triage, prognosis, and treatment planning. However, MRI suffers from an inherent slow data acquisition process because data is collected sequentially in -space. In recent years, most MRI reconstruction methods proposed in the literature focus on holistic image reconstruction rather than enhancing the edge information.

However, the results from EWAS have been inconsistent, and longitudinal observations of these associations are scarce. Furthermore, few studies have investigated whether DNA methylation (DNAm) could be modified by smoking, drinking, and glycemic traits, which have broad impacts on genome-wide DNAm and result in altering the risk of T2DM.
