Crosslinking strategies have emerged as an attractive technology for deciphering protein complexes and protein-protein interactions (PPIs). However, commonly used crosslinking strategies present significant challenges for the precise analysis of protein complexes and dynamic PPIs in native biological environments. Here, we report the development of the first visible-light-inducible lysine-specific homobifunctional photo-crosslinkers and introduce Visible-light-controlled Lysine-selective crosslinking (VL-XL) strategy for in-depth analysis of protein complexes and profiling dynamic interactomes in live cells.

An electrochemiluminescence (ECL)-fluorescence (FL) dual-mode aptasensing system is proposed for estradiol detection. Firstly, ruthenium-based metal-organic framework nanosheets (RuMOFNSs) were synthesized by a simple one-pot method. RuMOFNSs exhibited both fluorescence (FL) and electrochemiluminescence (ECL) characteristics.

Background: Sesquiterpene ( +)-valencene is a characteristic aroma component from sweet orange fruit, which has a variety of biological activities and is widely used in industrial manufacturing of food, beverage and cosmetics industries. However, at present, the content in plant sources is low, and its yield and quality would be influenced by weather and land, which limit the supply of ( +)-valencene. The rapid development of synthetic biology has accelerated the construction of microbial cell factories and provided an effective alternative method for the production of natural products.

β-Caryophyllene is a natural bicyclic sesquiterpene found in a large number of plants around the world. It has anti-inflammatory, anticancer and analgesic biological activities associated with its important medicinal value, and has also attracted attention in the field of bioenergy with high energy density. Due to the low amount of β-caryophyllene in plants and complex purification process, microbial biosynthesis is considered as a promising alternative for the industrial development of β-caryophyllene.

(-)-α-Bisabolol is a plant-derived sesquiterpene derived from which can be used as a raw material in cosmetics and has anti-inflammatory function. In this study, we designed six mutation sites of the (-)-α-bisabolol synthase BOS using the plmDCA algorithm. Among these, the F324Y mutation demonstrated exceptional performance, increasing the product yield by 73 %.

Low molecular weight chitosan selenium nanoparticles (LCS-SeNPs), a biologically active compound derived from selenium polysaccharides, have demonstrated potential in addressing obesity. However, the mechanism through which LCS-SeNPs alleviate high-fat diet (HFD)-induced non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) remains unclear. Our results elucidated that LCS-SeNPs significantly inhibited fat accumulation and markedly improved the intestinal barrier by increasing mucus secretion from goblet cells.

Sugar transport across membranes is critical for plant development and yield. However, an analysis of the role of intracellular sugar transporters in senescence is lacking. Here, we characterized the role of Senescence-Associated Sugar Transporter1 (SAST1) during senescence in Arabidopsis (Arabidopsis thaliana).

Monogalactosyldiacylglycerol (MGDG), a predominant photosynthetic membrane lipid derived from plants and microalgae, has important applications in feed additives, medicine, and other fields. The low content and various structural stereoselectivity differences of MGDG in plants limited the biological extraction or chemical synthesis of MGDG, resulting in a supply shortage of monogalactosyldiacylglycerol with a growing demand. Herein, we established Saccharomyces cerevisiae as a cell factory for efficient de novo production of monogalactosyldiacylglycerol for the first time.

The study investigated the health care workers' knowledge, attitudes, and practice levels regarding occupational protection against antineoplastic drugs (ADs) via analysis of latent classes and their influencing factors. A convenience sampling method was used to select healthcare workers from 7 hospitals in southern China between April and August 2023. A questionnaire based on literature analysis, brainstorming, and Delphi method was used to investigate the knowledge, practice, and attitudes of healthcare workers exposed to ADs for appropriate occupational protection intervention, followed by latent class analysis.

  • Latent bioreactive unnatural amino acids (Uaas) are used for creating covalent drugs and studying protein interactions, but identifying their cross-linking products is complicated.
  • Enrichable Uaas help reduce complexity in protein samples and data analysis, but few cross-linked peptides have been found in mammalian cells.
  • The study introduces a new Uaa called eFSY, which can produce identifiable cross-linking products, and a software named AixUaa to analyze the resulting mass data for determining protein interactions involving Thioredoxin 1 and Selenoprotein M.

Regulation of intracellular sugar homeostasis is maintained by regulation of activities of sugar import and export proteins residing at the tonoplast. We show here that the EARLY RESPONSE TO DEHYDRATION6-LIKE4 (ERDL4) protein, a member of the monosaccharide transporter family, resides in the vacuolar membrane in Arabidopsis (Arabidopsis thaliana). Gene expression and subcellular fractionation studies indicated that ERDL4 participates in fructose allocation across the tonoplast.

Insect pests have always been one of the main hazards affecting crop yield and quality in traditional agriculture. An accurate and timely pest detection algorithm is essential for effective pest control; however, the existing approach suffers from a sharp performance drop when it comes to the pest detection task due to the lack of learning samples and models for small pest detection. In this paper, we explore and study the improvement methods of convolutional neural network (CNN) models on the Teddy Cup pest dataset and further propose a lightweight and effective agricultural pest detection method for small target pests, named Yolo-Pest, for the pest detection task in agriculture.
