[Development status and problems of traditional Chinese medicine seed industry and suggestions for it].

The inheritance, innovation, and development of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM) need to be based on Chinese medicinal materials. The TCM seed industry is the source of TCM production, which is related to the stable supply and quality safety of TCM. This paper summarizes the basic situation of the TCM seed industry and introduces relevant policies and regulations to TCM seeds in the seed industry and the TCM field.

Background: Post-hepatectomy liver failure (PHLF) after liver resection is one of the main complications causing postoperative death in patients with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). It is crucial to help clinicians identify potential high-risk PHLF patients as early as possible through preoperative evaluation.

Aim: To identify risk factors for PHLF and develop a prediction model.

Role of MEG3 in Cellular Physiology of Atherosclerosis.

Objective: To investigate the role of the lncRNA MEG3 (MEG3) in opposing the biochemical processes thought to be involved in the development of atherosclerosis (AS).

Methods: Thirty patients with AS and thirty healthy control subjects were enrolled in this study. The expression of MEG3, miR-200b-3p and ABCA1 was analyzed by RT-qPCR in the individuals and the macrophages-derived foam cells.

Application Value of a New Lung Ultrasound Scoring Method in Neonatal Respiratory Distress Syndrome Treatment.

The study was aimed at exploring the clinical value of a 14-zone lung ultrasound scoring (LUS) method in treating neonatal respiratory distress syndrome (NRDS) with pulmonary surfactant (PS) and determining the timing of mechanical ventilation (MV). In this study, 88 neonates with NRDS who received PS replacement therapy were selected. We applied a new 14-zone LUS method before and 12, 24, 48 and 72 h after PS treatment to explore the clinical value of assessing PS replacement therapy efficacy in NRDS.

Atherosclerosis (As) is a chronic cardiovascular disease characterized by abnormal of lipid accumulation and cholesterol efflux. The present study aimed to investigate whether the micro-RNA (miR)-200b-3p could exacerbate As by promoting lipid accumulation and inhibiting cholesterol efflux via ATP-binding cassette transporter A1 (ABCA1) in macrophage-derived foam cells. Blood samples from 30 patients with As and 30 healthy people were collected at Quanzhou First Hospital.

miR‑342‑5p promotes Zmpste24‑deficient mouse embryonic fibroblasts proliferation by suppressing GAS2.

Cellular senescence is an irreversible growth arrest of cells that maintain their metabolic activities. Premature senescence can be induced by different stress factors and occurs in mouse embryonic fibroblasts (MEFs) derived from Zmpste24 metalloproteinase‑deficient mice, a progeria mouse model of Hutchinson‑Gilford Progeria Syndrome. Previous studies have shown that miR‑342‑5p, an intronic microRNA (miRNA/miR) reportedly involved in ageing associated diseases, is downregulated in Zmpste24‑/‑ MEFs.

Two surgical procedures for esophagogastric variceal bleeding in patients with portal hypertension.

Aim: To determine the clinical value of a splenorenal shunt plus pericardial devascularization (PCVD) in portal hypertension (PHT) patients with variceal bleeding.

Methods: From January 2008 to November 2012, 290 patients with cirrhotic portal hypertension were treated surgically in our department for the prevention of gastroesophageal variceal bleeding: 207 patients received a routine PCVD procedure (PCVD group), and 83 patients received a PCVD plus a splenorenal shunt procedure (combined group). Changes in hemodynamic parameters, rebleeding, encephalopathy, portal vein thrombosis, and mortality were analyzed.
