Increased adipogenic differentiation and decreased osteogenic differentiation of bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (BMSCs) along with slow self-renewal are pivotal causes for decreased bone formation in senile osteoporosis. Circular RNAs (circRNAs) play important roles in cell proliferation and differentiation, and are closely related to osteoporosis. Whether circRNAs orchestrate the adipo-osteogenic balance and the proliferation of BMSCs in osteoporosis remains unclear.

Objectives: To investigate the role of the BNIP3-PI3K/Akt signaling pathway in mediating the inhibitory effect of Decoction (BYHWT) on mitochondrial autophagy in human synovial fibroblasts from rheumatoid arthritis patients (FLS-RA) cultured under a hypoxic condition.

Methods: Forty normal Wistar rats were randomized into two groups (=20) for daily gavage of BYHWT or distilled water for 7 days to prepare BYHWT-medicated or control sera. FLS-RA were cultured in routine condition or exposed to hypoxia (10% O) for 24 h wigh subsequent treatment with IL-1β, followed by treatment with diluted BYHWT-medicated serum (5%, 10% and 20%) or control serum.

Background And Objective: Acute exacerbation (AE) is often the fatal complication of idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF). Emerging evidence indicates that metabolic reprogramming and dysregulation of lipid metabolism are distinctive characteristics of IPF. However, the lipid metabolic mechanisms that underlie the pathophysiology of AE-IPF remain elusive.

Background: Bed rest during pregnancy can lead to reduced physical activity, impairing lower limb venous blood flow and increasing the risk of deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and muscle atrophy. We investigated the clinical efficacy of foam rolling intervention (FRI) in enhancing lower limb venous blood flow, mitigating the risk of DVT and muscle atrophy in pregnant women on bed rest.

Methods: This single-blind, randomised controlled trial enrolled 86 pregnant women with long-term bed rest for foetal protection (≥ 7 days), gestational age ≥ 20 weeks, and maternal age < 40 years.

Background: Pregnant women faced great challenges and psychological and physiological changes of varying degrees during the omicron epidemic outbreak. It is important to recognize the potential impact of these challenges on the mental health of pregnant women and to provide appropriate resources and support to mitigate their effects.

Method: By using the convenience sampling approach, a total of 401 pregnant women from two hospitals of different grades in two cities were included in the survey.

Purpose: Acute exacerbation of idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (AE-IPF) is the primary cause of death in patients with IPF, characterised by diffuse, bilateral ground-glass opacification on high-resolution CT (HRCT). This study proposes a three-dimensional (3D)-based deep learning algorithm for classifying AE-IPF using HRCT images.

Materials And Methods: A novel 3D-based deep learning algorithm, SlowFast, was developed by applying a database of 306 HRCT scans obtained from two centres.

Introduction: Idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) is characterized by progressive lung dysfunction due to excessive collagen production and tissue scarring. Despite recent advancements, the molecular mechanisms remain unclear.

Methods: RNA sequencing identified 475 differentially expressed genes (DEGs) in the TGF-β1-induced primary lung fibrosis model.

Idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) is a chronic, progressive scarring interstitial lung disease with an unknown cause. Some patients may experience acute exacerbations (AE), which result in severe lung damage visible on imaging or through examination of tissue samples, often leading to high mortality rates. However, the etiology and pathogenesis of AE-IPF remain unclear.

Increasing evidence indicates that circular RNAs (circRNAs) accumulate in aging tissues and nonproliferating cells due to their high stability. However, whether upregulation of circRNA expression mediates stem cell senescence and whether circRNAs can be targeted to alleviate aging-related disorders remain unclear. Here, RNA sequencing analysis of differentially expressed circRNAs in long-term-cultured mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) revealed that circSERPINE2 expression was significantly increased in late passages.

Background: Psychological birth trauma exhibits a high incidence worldwide, resulting in a wide range of negative impacts on mothers, infants, couples, families and society at large through the maternal-centered ripple effect. However, there is currently limited research on psychological birth trauma in China. Social support and pregnancy stress are important influencing factors of psychological birth trauma.

Glucocorticoid-induced osteoporosis (GIOP), one of the most common and serious adverse effects associated with glucocorticoid administration, manifests as decreased bone formation and increased bone resorption, eventually culminating in bone loss. Galangin (GAL) is a flavonoid extracted from the medicinal herbal galangal that possesses a variety of pharmacological activities and can inhibit osteoclastogenesis. However, the effects of GAL on GIOP remain unclear.

Lung cancer is a common malignant tumor in clinical practice, and its morbidity and mortality are in the forefront of malignant tumors. Radiotherapy, chemotherapy, and surgical treatment play an important role in the treatment of lung cancer, however, radiotherapy has many complications and even causes partial loss of function, the recurrence rate after surgical resection is high, and the toxic and side effects of chemotherapy drugs are strong. Traditional Chinese medicine has played a huge role in the prognosis and improvement of lung cancer, among them, Zengshengping (ZSP) has the effect of preventing and treating lung cancer.

Recent studies have reported that circular RNAs (circRNAs) play a crucial regulatory role in a variety of human diseases. However, the roles of circRNAs in pathological osteogenesis in ankylosing spondylitis (AS) remain unclear. We conducted circRNA and miRNA expression profiling of osteogenically differentiated bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells (BMSCs) of patients with AS compared with those of healthy donors (HDs) by RNA sequencing (RNA-seq).

Objectives: Hepatitis B virus related acute-on-chronic liver failure (HBV-ACLF) is the most common type of liver failure in China, with a high mortality. Early rapid reduction of HBV-DNA load can improve the survival rate of HBV-ACLF patients. At present, the commonly used drugs are nucleoside (acid) analogues, such as entecavir (ETV), tenofovir, and so on.

Receptor interacting serine/threonine protein kinase 1 (RIPK1) activation and necroptosis have been genetically and mechanistically linked with human multiple sclerosis and neurodegenerative diseases for which demyelination is a common key pathology. Demyelination can be healed through remyelination which is mediated by new oligodendrocytes derived from the adult oligodendrocyte progenitor cells (OPCs). Unfortunately, the efficiency of remyelination declines with progressive aging partially due to the depletion of OPCs following chronic or repeated demyelination.

The age-dependent decline in remyelination potential of the central nervous system during ageing is associated with a declined differentiation capacity of oligodendrocyte progenitor cells (OPCs). The molecular players that can enhance OPC differentiation or rejuvenate OPCs are unclear. Here we show that, in mouse OPCs, nuclear entry of SIRT2 is impaired and NAD levels are reduced during ageing.
