Twist deformation of flexible photopolymer using a diffraction spectrum of a holographic volume grating is explored. Twist deformation can be categorized into transverse shear and macroscopic twist deformations. At a small twist angle, the transverse shear deformation can be considered as a tiny unit of twist deformation.

The dynamic behavior of oxide-supported metal catalyst interfaces under thermal and gaseous activation critically determines their catalytic performance. Using in situ TEM, we reveal the atomic-scale evolution of Au nanoparticles on CeO supports during thermal treatment. The Au/CeO interface structure depends on three key factors: epitaxial matching, nanoparticle morphology, and metal-support interactions, all governed by the balance between Au surface energy, cohesive energy, and interfacial energy with CeO.

Glucocorticoids-induced osteoporosis poses a critical health issue due to its detrimental impact on bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (BMSCs); Tanshinone IIA (TSA) emerges as a promising therapeutic intervention, demonstrating its capacity to reverse osteogenic differentiation impairment. The aim is to determine whether TSA enhances the osteogenic differentiation of BMSCs damaged by dexamethasone (DEX) through the ERK1/2 -CREB signaling pathway. BMSCs were treated with varying concentrations of DEX (0.

Inflammatory myofibroblastic tumor (IMT) is a rare neoplasm with intermediate biological potential. The stomach is an uncommon site for IMTs, and gastric IMTs are typically confined to the submucosal layer. This report presents a rare case of a 29-year-old woman with a gastric IMT located in the gastric fundus, exhibiting local invasion into the esophagus and spleen.

It is a major challenge to obtain broadband microwave absorption (MA) properties using low dielectric or magnetic nanoparticle-decorated carbon composites due to the limited single conductive loss or polarization loss of the carbon materials used as substrates. Novel pure cellulose-derived graphite carbon (CGC) materials can be used as an exceptional substrate option due to their special defective graphitic carbon structure, which provides both conduction and polarization loss. Herein, CGC@ZnO composites were first synthesized by atomic layer deposition (ALD) for use as microwave absorbents.

Objectives: Malnutrition is generally studied to be involved in outlining hazard frailty trajectories, resulting in adverse outcomes. In view of frailty's multidimensional nature, we aimed to assess the contribution of nutritional items in existing frailty tools to adverse outcomes, and develop and validate a nutritional frailty phenotype based on machine learning.

Design: A population-based prospective cohort study.

The exchange of information and materials between organelles plays a crucial role in regulating cellular physiological functions and metabolic levels. Mitochondria-associated endoplasmic reticulum membranes serve as physical contact channels between the endoplasmic reticulum membrane and the mitochondrial outer membrane, formed by various proteins and protein complexes. This microstructural domain mediates several specialized functions, including calcium (Ca 2+ ) signaling, autophagy, mitochondrial morphology, oxidative stress response, and apoptosis.

We investigated the influence of 17β-estradiol (17β-E2) on cartilage extracellular matrix (ECM) homeostasis in postmenopausal women. We focused on the roles of estrogen receptors (ESR) and SOX6 in 17β-E2-mediated stimulation of ECM metabolism during chondrocyte (CH) degeneration. We compared the expression of anabolic genes (collagen II and aggrecan) and catabolic genes (MMPs and TIMPs) in IL-1β-induced CH degeneration in vitro, with and without 17β-E2 supplementation.

Accurate segmentation of oral surgery-related tissues from cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) images can significantly accelerate treatment planning and improve surgical accuracy. In this paper, we propose a fully automated tissue segmentation system for dental implant surgery. Specifically, we propose an image preprocessing method based on data distribution histograms, which can adaptively process CBCT images with different parameters.

Using a mixed-ligand approach, we successfully obtained two Mn(II)-based coordination compounds, namely [Mn(L1)(TBIP)·HO]n (1) and [Mn(L2)(NPTA)·HO]n (2) (where L1 and L2 are 1,4-bis(thiabenzimidazol-1-ylmethyl)benzene and 1,2-bis(thiabenzimidazol-1-ylmethyl)benzene, HNPTA is 2-nitroterephthalic acid, and HTBIP is 5-tert-butylisophthalic acid). Fluorescence performance testing of complexes 1 and 2 showed excellent green and blue fluorescence properties. Based on this, we further prepared HA/CMCS hydrogels using natural polysaccharides hyaluronic acid (HA) and carboxymethyl chitosan (CMCS) as raw materials and studied their internal structural characteristics using scanning electron microscopy.

Background: This study aims to identify new therapeutic targets and explore the molecular mechanism of ankylosing spondylitis (AS), a rheumatic immune disease that mainly affects the sacroiliac and spinal joints. Despite extensive research, the exact cause of AS is still unknown. The research team utilized a bioinformatics approach to achieve their objectives.

Metal-support interaction (MSI) provides great possibilities to tune the activity, selectivity, and stability of heterogeneous catalysts. Herein, the Au/ZnO catalyst is prepared by commercial ZnO and chloroauric acid, and the structure evolution of the catalyst pretreated by H and O gas at varied temperature is investigated to provide mechanistic insights of MSI. It is found that the H treatment at 300 °C and above can induce the formation of both the ZnO overlayer and bulk Au-Zn alloy.

Objective: To develop the wed-based system for predicting risk of (pre)frailty among community-dwelling older adults.

Materials And Methods: (Pre)frailty was determined by physical frailty phenotype scale. A total of 2802 robust older adults aged ≥60 years from the China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study (CHARLS) 2013-2015 survey were randomly assigned to derivation or internal validation cohort at a ratio of 8:2.

Objective: To develop and externally validate a frailty prediction model integrating physical factors, psychological variables and routine laboratory test parameters to predict the 30-day frailty risk in older adults with undernutrition.

Methods: Based on an ongoing survey of geriatrics syndrome in elder adults across China (SGSE), this prognostic study identified the putative prognostic indicators for predicting the 30-day frailty risk of older adults with undernutrition. Using multivariable logistic regression analysis with backward elimination, the predictive model was subjected to internal (bootstrap) and external validation, and its calibration was evaluated by the calibration slope and its C statistic discriminative ability.

Therefore, designing multivalent epitope vaccines against many key virulence factors virulence factors of is a promising strategy to control infection. In previous studies, we constructed a multivalent epitope vaccine FVpE against four key virulence factors of (Urease, CagA, VacA, and NAP), and oral immunization with the FVpE vaccine plus a polysaccharide adjuvant (PA) containing polysaccharide and chitosan could provide protection against infection in the Mongolian gerbil model.

Bimetallic alloy catalysts show strong structural and compositional dependence on their activity, selectivity, and stability. Often referred to as the “synergetic effect” of two metal elements in the alloys, their detailed dynamic information, structurally and chemically, of catalyst surface under reaction conditions remains largely elusive. Here, using aberration-corrected environmental transmission electron microscopy, we visualize the atomic-scale synergetic surface activation of CuAu under a water–gas shift reaction condition.

Evidence of the impact of nutritional risk on health outcomes and hospital costs among Chinese older inpatients is limited. Relatively few studies have investigated the association between clinical and cost outcomes and nutritional risk in immobile older inpatients, particularly those with neoplasms, injury, digestive, cardiac, and respiratory conditions. This China-wide prospective observational cohort study comprised 5,386 immobile older inpatients hospitalized at 25 hospitals.
