This study evaluated the effect of Mogan large-leaf yellow tea (MG-LYT) on preventing obesity. It was found that cold-brewed yellow tea has stronger anti-obesity effects in high-fat diet (HFD)-induced obese mice than hot-brewed tea, due to its higher content of non-esterified catechins, as shown by metabolomic and high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) analysis. Notably, epigallocatechin (EGC), a key non-ester catechin, likely enhances pancreatic lipase inhibition through allosteric modulation, which explains the greater effectiveness of cold-brewed tea.

Materials & Methods: This retrospective study enrolled 198 patients with BIR from two institutions and stratified them into a training cohort (Qingdao cohort, n = 144) and an external validation cohort (Beijing cohort, n = 54). The patients were classified as having incomplete response (IR) or non-IR disease at the final follow-up.
Talus metastasis is rarely observed on a 131I whole-body scan (WBS). We report a case of abnormal 131I uptake in the talus on the post-therapeutic WBS in a 54-year-old woman with papillary thyroid cancer (PTC). The patient received 2 courses of radioactive 131I therapy (RAIT) after the thyroid surgery.

Background: Burning mouth syndrome (BMS) is a chronic pain disorder affecting the oral mucosa, primarily characterised by a burning sensation in otherwise healthy-appearing tissues. Due to the absence of specific clinical manifestations and identifiable pathological changes, BMS is often misdiagnosed, leading to persistent pain and significant impacts on patients' emotional and psychological well-being.
Objectives: The present review aims to elucidate the neurobiological mechanisms underlying BMS and explore potential neuromodulation therapies for its management.
Background: RNA modifications, including m6A, m1A, m5C, m7G, and ac4C, may play a role in the occurrence and development of cancer, such as proliferation. However, the effects of RNA modification-related genes (RRGs) in the development of oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) have not been fully elucidated. The present study aimed to evaluate the effects and mechanisms of RRGs on OSCC development progression.

This study investigates the anti-lung cancer activities of polysaccharides extracted from Laminaria japonica, focusing on their bioactive components and molecular mechanisms. Using a network pharmacology approach, key bioactive compounds were identified, and their associated therapeutic targets were predicted. Experimental validation through in vitro assays on human adenocarcinoma (A549) and Lewis Lung Cancer (LLC) cell lines demonstrated that specific polysaccharide fractions, particularly the S-C fraction, exhibited significant inhibitory effects on cancer cell viability, migration, and invasion.

The use of low-level light therapy (LLLT) to treat OLP is still debated. This systematic review and meta-analysis aimed to systematically and quantitatively assess the efficacy of LLLT in the treatment of OLP.

According to the 2015 American Thyroid Association (ATA) guidelines, 20% of these patients will develop a Structural Incomplete Response (SIR). Doctors often recommend ¹³¹I retreatment without imaging evidence, hoping for benefits.

Photobiomodulation (PBM) and oral cryotherapy (OCT) have been evaluated for the treatment of burning pain, but no confirmatory trials have been performed. To evaluate the comparative effectiveness of PBM combined with OCT at reducing pain and psychological distress compared with PBM alone, OCT alone, or drug therapy (DT) alone in a cohort of patients with BMS.

Objective: This study aimed to evaluate the predictive ability of inflammatory markers and clinicopathological features for disease progression (PD) in patients with DM-DTC.
Methods: A retrospective analysis was conducted on 230 DM-DTC patients from May 2016 to January 2022.

Purpose: Radioiodine (I) adjuvant therapy (RAT) is given to treat subclinical tumor of differentiated thyroid cancer (DTC) that may or may not actually be present after prior adequate treatment, yet the indications and benefits for RAT remain controversial. This multi-center study retrospectively evaluated the real targets and responses to RAT in intermediate- and high-risk patients, aiming to refine current "one-size-fits-all" guidelines.
Methods: Totally 599 intermediate- and high-risk DTC patients from three centers were enrolled.
We aimed to investigate hydrogen peroxide-inducible DNA interstrand cross-link (HP-ICL) as a targeted therapy for anaplastic thyroid cancer (ATC) due to its higher H2O2 content than normal cells. In vitro analysis included fluorescence microscopy for H2O2 levels and exposure of ATC cells to various HP-ICL concentrations followed by assessment of cell viability, apoptosis, cell cycle, and DNA damage using methyl thiazolyl tetrazolium (MTT), flow cytometry, and a γH2AX assay. Protein levels related to apoptosis and the phosphatidylinositol-3-kinase/protein kinase B/mammalian target of rapamycin (PI3K/AKT/mTOR) pathway were measured by Western blotting.

Comprehensive echocardiographic examinations require accurate measurements and the operators to have excellent technical skills. Despite the availability of several published echocardiographic guidelines, the absence of recommended operational manuals in daily practice has resulted in significant variation in the content of echocardiography reports across different medical institutions.

Materials And Methods: All caDTC patients from two centers in the period from 2004-2022 were retrospectively included. At the last follow-up, the patients' disease status was assessed and classified as an incomplete response (IR) or as an excellent or indeterminate response (EIDR).

Bone invasion by head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) significantly impacts tumor staging, treatment choice, prognosis, and quality of life. While HNSCC is known to cause osteolytic bone invasion, we found that specific HNSCC subtypes can induce osteogenic bone destruction at the tumor-bone interface. This destruction mode significantly correlated with reduced patient survival rates and increased neck lymph node metastasis.

Methods: We conducted a cross-sectional study of patients with SARS-CoV-2 Omicron infection at Changxing Mobile Cabin Hospital in Shanghai, China, from March to May 2022. A prospective follow-up of patients with gustatory dysfunction was conducted at 6 months after discharge.
Objective: This study aimed to investigate the underlying reasons for unexplained elevated thyroglobulin (Tg) in postoperative papillary thyroid cancer (PTC) patients according to follow-up results post RAT and to explore the long-term clinical outcomes and prognostic factors associated with these patients.
Methods: From April 2016 to June 2019, a retrospective study was conducted on postoperative PTC patients who underwent RAT at our institution. Patients with preablative stimulated thyroglobulin (psTg) > 10 ng/mL but no structurally evident disease were enrolled.
The genetic diversities of subpopulations drive the evolution of pathogens and affect their ability to infect hosts and cause diseases. However, most studies to date have focused on the identification and characterization of adaptive mutations in single colonies, which do not accurately reflect the phenotypes of an entire population. Here, to identify the composition of variant subpopulations within a pathogen population, we developed a streamlined approach that combines high-throughput sequencing of the entire population cells with genotyping of single colonies.

Background: The clinical features and prognosis of children and adolescents with differentiated thyroid carcinoma (caDTC) are different from that of adults. Postoperative radioiodine therapy (RIT) was recommended for some intermediate and high risk caDTC patients. The objective of this study was to evaluate the long-term prognosis of pediatric caDTC patients with different responses to initial RIT and to explore the related influencing factors.

As a class of sulfated polysaccharides, fucoidans might compete with HS to bind tau, resulting in the cessation of tau spreading. The structural determinants of fucoidans for competition with HS binding to tau are not well understood.
