Importance: Deep learning convolutional neural networks (DL-CNN) achieved diagnostic accuracies comparable to dermatologists in controlled test environments. This study aimed to evaluate a binary DL-CNN's diagnostic performance in RST and assess the level of support for an international group of dermatologists.

Reducing Test Anxiety: A Randomized Controlled Pilot Study of Evening Bright Light Exposure in University Students.

University students often experience high levels of stress and anxiety during exam periods, adversely affecting their well-being and academic performance. This study investigated the short-term effects of evening bright light (BL) exposure on several psychophysiological stress measures during exam preparation. In this preregistered randomized controlled pilot study, 35 university students were assigned either to an intervention group exposed to BL (1500 lx, 4000 K;  = 18) or a control light (CL) group with standard lighting (100 lx, 3000 K;  = 17) for 4 h over five consecutive evenings.

Targeting ARPC1B Cancer Stem Cells to Sensitise Pancreatic Cancer to Gemcitabine Treatment.

ARPC1B cancer stem cells (CSCs) in pancreatic cancer are identified as a subpopulation resistant to gemcitabine. In our study, drug repositioning, molecular docking, and surface plasmon resonance (SPR) technique jointly revealed that CK-636 can directly target ARPC1B protein with high affinity. In vitro cytotoxicity, ex vivo organoid cultures, in vivo xenograft and orthotopic gemcitabine-resistant pancreatic cancer model demonstrated that combination therapy of gemcitabine plus CK-636 showed a superior anti-tumor effect compared with gemcitabine monotherapy.

The human monoamine transporters (MATs) for serotonin (SERT), dopamine (DAT), and norepinephrine (NET) play a key role in neurotransmission by transporting neurotransmitters from the synaptic cleft back into the neuron. MATs are embedded in the cell membrane's lipid bilayer, encompassing cholesterol, phospholipids, and sphingolipids as main components. Global measures and restrictions implemented to control the COVID-19 pandemic had a significant impact and created challenges in regular business, commerce, and scientific activities, including biobank operations. The challenges were exacerbated by a dependence on imported supplies and reagents from countries such as the United States, China, and within Europe, as well as restrictions on exporting biological samples. The pandemic has highlighted the pressing need for regional autonomy in biobanking activities.
