Concentration-dependent binding to red blood cells is a characteristic of several drugs, complicating the understanding of how pathophysiological factors influence drug behavior. This study utilized user-friendly, physiologically-based pharmacokinetic (PBPK) models to compare concentration-dependent and independent blood-to-plasma drug concentration ratios (B/P), using tacrolimus as a case study. Two models were developed and validated for tacrolimus using clinical data from healthy volunteers; Model 1 accounted for saturable blood binding, and Model 2 used a constant B/P level.

Effective sample design has a major role in the quality of parameter estimation in statistical parameter estimation issues. The ranking set sampling (RSS) strategy is effective and a less costly option than simple random sampling (SRS). A novel mixture continuous lifetime distribution that has been proposed recently is the power Chris-Jerry distribution (PC-JD).

Human toxocariasis presents in several forms, including visceral larva migrans, ocular larva migrans, covert toxocariasis, and neurotoxocariasis. Although several studies suggest a potential link between toxocariasis and epilepsy, this link is still debated. Additional mechanistic and experimental studies in animal models are essential for a better understanding of this association.

Upper gastrointestinal endoscopy (GIE) is essential for diagnosing and treating gastrointestinal disorders in children aged 6-12 years, yet it often requires sedation due to the significant discomfort and pain involved. We conducted a PRISMA 2020-compliant systematic review of randomized controlled trials (RCTs) from PubMed, Web of Science, Scopus, and Ovid (inception to March 30, 2024). Inclusion criteria are as follows: RCTs comparing sedative regimens (e.

The olive oil industry generates vast amounts of by-products, including olive pomace, olive mill wastewater, olive pits, and olive leaves, which pose serious environmental and economic challenges. However, these residues are rich in bioactive compounds such as polyphenols, dietary fibers, unsaturated fatty acids, and sugar derivatives, making them valuable resources for sustainable valorization. This review explores innovative biotechnological and probiotic-driven approaches to convert olive waste into high-value products, aligning with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 12 (Responsible consumption and production) and SDG 13 (Climate action).

Background And Objective: Peripheral artery disease (PAD) is a progressive vascular condition affecting >237 million individuals worldwide. Accurate diagnosis and patient-specific treatment planning are critical but are often hindered by limited access to advanced imaging tools and real-time analytical support. This study presents DECODE, an open-source, cloud-based platform that integrates artificial intelligence, interactive 3D visualization, and computational modeling to improve the noninvasive management of PAD.

Background: Familial adenomatous polyposis (FAP) is an autosomal dominant syndrome that results from a germline mutation in the adenomatous polyposis coli gene. It is characterized by the early development of hundreds of adenomas in the colon during the second decade of life. If prophylactic colectomy is not performed, most patients eventually develop colorectal cancer (CRC).

Background: Nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate (NADP)-dependent isocitrate dehydrogenases, isocitrate dehydrogenase enzyme (IDH)1 and IDH2, are crucial to normal glucose and lipid metabolism and to oxidative species handling. This study aimed to assess the probability of utilizing NADP-dependent isocitrate dehydrogenases deficiency as a biomarker of the progression of metabolically healthy obesity (MHO) to metabolic syndrome (MetS).
Methods: The study enrolled 120 participants.

Metabolic syndrome (MetSyn) is a complex, multifactorial disorder characterized by insulin resistance, dyslipidemia, hepatic steatosis, oxidative stress, and chronic inflammation, contributing substantially to the global burden of cardiometabolic diseases. Despite extensive research, effective pharmacological strategies that address the diverse and interconnected pathophysiological mechanisms of MetSyn are lacking. Sirtuin 6 (SIRT6), a NAD-dependent epigenetic regulator, has emerged as a critical modulator of metabolic and inflammatory homeostasis.

Drug-eluting balloons (DEBs) represent a promising alternative to stent-based interventions for peripheral artery disease (PAD), and their therapeutic efficacy is dependent on optimizing drug transfer, mechanical deployment, and vessel-wall interactions. This review synthesizes current advancements in computational modeling; systematically analyzes studies identified through comprehensive ScienceDirect, Scopus, and PubMed (2015-2025) searches; and selects them according to PRISMA guidelines. Key strategies, including computational fluid dynamics (CFD), finite element analysis (FEA), fluid-structure interaction (FSI), and machine learning (ML), are critically examined to elucidate how drug kinetics, coating stability, and mechanical stress govern therapeutic outcomes.

Ebola virus (EBOV), one of the deadliest diseases, is responsible for infecting individuals with hemorrhagic fever syndrome, which remains an ongoing worldwide health concern. The extremely deadly nature and virulence of EBOV illness illuminate the imperative need to evolve effective curative agents. Viral protien (VP35) acts as an Achilles heel for EBOV reproduction and also interacts with numerous human proteins, which leads to impairing the immune system.

Hyponatremia, characterized by a serum sodium concentration below 135 mEq/L, is a prevalent electrolyte imbalance associated with increased morbidity and mortality across various clinical conditions. This study employs the Holt-Winters seasonal method, a robust time series forecasting model, to predict mortality rates attributed to hyponatremia. Leveraging retrospective mortality data from a cohort of hospitals in the United States, our analysis aims to elucidate temporal patterns and trends in hyponatremia-related deaths.

Methods: Our non-inferiority, randomised, double-blind trial recruited sixty cases scheduled for single-level lumbar spine fixation.
