Background: Using a lower volume (LVs) of local anaesthetic (LA) reduces the risk of toxicity, side effects, and cost. Our study assessed whether the lower LA volumes (10 or 15 ml) have the same analgesic efficacy as 20 ml of erector spinae plane block (ESPB) in single-level lumbar spine fixation.

Methods: Our non-inferiority, randomised, double-blind trial recruited sixty cases scheduled for single-level lumbar spine fixation.

Background: Inadequately managed acute pain following abdominal surgery can lead to patient discomfort, anxiety, respiratory issues, delirium, myocardial ischemia, prolonged hospital stays, and persistent pain.

Objectives: This research compares the quadratus lumborum (QL) block to intraperitoneal and periportal bupivacaine infiltration for postoperative analgesia after laparoscopic cholecystectomy.

Methods: This randomized double-blind study included seventy patients aged 21 to 60 years, randomly selected from Ain Shams University Hospital between March 2022 and March 2023, scheduled for elective laparoscopic cholecystectomy.

This study was designed to evaluate the potential protective impact of estrogen and estrogen receptor against diethylnitrosamine (DEN)-induced hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) in rats. The levels of liver injury serum biomarkers, liver content of interleukin-6 (IL-6), relative liver weight and distortion of liver histological pictures were significantly increased in ovariectomized (OVX) rats and SHAM rats that received DEN alone and were further exaggerated when DEN was combined with fulvestrant (F) compared to non-DEN treated rats. The OVX rats showed higher insults than SHAM rats.

A high-performance thin-layer chromatographic (HPTLC) method has developed for the selective detection of a diuretic drug, triamterene (TRIAM), in pure form, tablets and human plasma. The method was based on chromatographic separation of TRIAM using HPTLC plates, precoated with silica gel, and a mobile phase consisted of ethyl acetate: dimethylformamide: ammonia (7.0: 2.

Background: Even with the extensive use of ketogenic dietary therapies (KD), there still exist many areas of the world that do not provide these treatments. Implementing the ketogenic diet in different countries forms a real challenge in order to match the cultural and economic differences.

Aim: To assess the feasibility of implementing a ketogenic diet plan in a limited resource setting with identification of the compliance, tolerability and side effects in the target population and to assess the efficacy of the ketogenic diet in children with intractable epilepsy.

Twenty-two scientists met at Krobielowice, Poland, to discuss the impact of the social environment, spatial proximity, migration, poverty, but also psychological factors such as body perception and satisfaction, and social stressors such as elite sports, and teenage pregnancies, on child and adolescent growth. The data analysis included linear mixed effects models with different random effects, Monte Carlo analyses, and network simulations. The work stressed the importance of the peer group, but also included historic material, some considerations about body proportions, and growth in chronic liver, and congenital heart disease.
