Background: Drug use disorders (DUDs) pose a serious public health threat, exacerbating the worldwide disease burden and resulting in a dramatic rise in fatalities. We aimed to explore the global and cross-country disparities in the fatal and non-fatal burden attributable to DUDs and subtypes by sex and age groups from 1990 to 2021.
Methods: The Global Burden of Disease (GBD) 2021 data were analyzed to estimate the fatal [i.

Background: The HER2 immunohistochemistry (IHC) test is an essential method for detecting breast cancer (BC) and plays a pivotal role in guiding personalized treatment strategies. However, inconsistencies persist among different pathologists using IHC, especially for HER2-low and HER2-negative. This may lead to discrepant clinical decisions, potentially impacting patient outcomes.

Objective: Programmed death 1 (PD-1) and its ligand PD-L1 inhibitors and cytotoxic T lymphocyte-associated antigen-4 (CTLA-4) monoclonal antibodies have been approved for the treatment of advanced hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), but the response rates of these immunotherapy are not high, and they are easy to be resistant. Studies have shown that the gut microbiota can significantly influence immune responses and the efficacy of immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs). The aim of this study is to investigate whether the combination therapy of Tumor-Suppressing Multi-Enterobacteria (TSME) and PD-L1 inhibitor (atezolizumab) can improve the efficacy of immunotherapy-resistant hepatocellular carcinoma.

In recent years, the incidence of malignancies among young people, including early-onset esophageal cancer (EOEC), has been increasing globally. This study aims to compare the survival outcomes of metastatic EOEC and late-onset esophageal cancer (LOEC) and to identify prognostic factors. Patient data were collected from the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results database.

Purpose: To investigate and analyse the changing trends in the use of menopausal hormone therapy (MHT) for patients with menopausal syndrome (MPS) in hospitals in nine Chinese cities from 2019 to 2023 and to provide an evidence base for the rational clinical use of MHT.
Methods: Data on the use of MHT by patients with menopausal syndrome were collected and a trend analysis was conducted, including trends in the number of prescriptions, patient age, total prescription amount, average prescription amount, defined daily doses (DDDs), defined daily cost (DDC), and drug rank ratio (B/A).
Results: From 2019 to 2023, the prescriptions of MPS patient were concentrated in East China and North China, with an average age of 48.

Background: Ubiquitination, a pivotal posttranslational modification, plays a central role in regulating many biological processes. Nevertheless, its prognostic significance in cervical cancer remain largely unexplored.
Methods: Using unsupervised consensus cluster analysis, we identified molecular subtypes based on ubiquitin-associated genes.

Objectives: Acute T-cell lymphoblastic leukemia (T-ALL) is a severe hematologic malignancy with limited treatment options and poor long-term survival. This study explores the role of IKZF1 in regulating BCL-2 expression in T-ALL.
Methods: CUT&Tag and CUT&Run assays were employed to assess IKZF1 binding to the BCL-2 promoter.

To assess the effectiveness and safety of Sacubitril/Valsartan in reducing blood pressure in individuals with non-dialysis-dependent chronic kidney disease (NDD-CKD) Stage 3-5 complicated by hypertension. This study was a multicenter retrospective analysis conducted from March 1, 2022 to March 31, 2024, involving adult patients with NDD-CKD Stage 3-5 and hypertension, who received Sacubitril/Valsartan either as a monotherapy or in addition to current antihypertensive treatments that were insufficient. The main outcomes measured were blood pressure control, changes in blood pressure and laboratory parameters within 8 weeks post-treatment initiation, and incidence of adverse events.

Acute myeloid leukemia (AML) is a complex hematological malignancy predominantly affecting the elderly, with a median diagnosis age of 68 years. Despite advances in treatment, elderly AML patients face suboptimal survival outcomes, with an estimated 5-year survival rate below 20 %. Epigenetic dysregulation, notably DNA methylation, is a key factor in the progression of myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS) to AML.

Objectives: A combination of hypomethylation agents (HMA) and the HAG regimen (homoharringtonine, cytarabine, G-CSF) shows promise as a treatment for Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML). Nevertheless, the clinical efficacy of this combined therapy in contrast to the HAG regimen alone remains uncertain.
Methods: We conducted a meta-analysis of eligible studies comparing the clinical efficacy of these two regimens.

Preoperative laboratory data indicators significantly affect the prognosis of a variety of tumors. Nevertheless, the combined effect of systemic immune-inflammation index (SII) and prognostic nutritional index (PNI) on overall survival (OS) in patients with esophageal carcinoma remains unclear. Thus, we examined these associations among patients with postoperative staged T3N0M0 esophageal carcinoma.

β-thalassemia is a chronic hemolytic anemia characterized by the reduction or absence of synthesis of β-globin chains because of the β-globin gene mutations. β-thalassemia belongs to the inherited hemoglobin disease, and occurs in some provinces of China, such as in Guangdong, Guangxi, Fujian, its prevalence is about 2%. The treatment of this disease include transfusion, iron chelating agent, hematopoietic stem cell transplantation, splenectomy, induced expression of Fetal Hemoglobin (HbF) and gene therapies.

Background And Objective: Our previous studies reported that miR-451 could protect against erythroid oxidant stress target gene-Ywhaz (14-3-3zeta) via inhibiting FoxO3 in the erythropoiesis. This study aimed to investigate the potential mechanism underlying the regulatory effect of miR-451 on human colorectal cancer (CRC) cells.
Methods: In this study, expressions of miR-451 and Ywhaz in CRC tissues and adjacent normal tissues were detected by quantitative real-time PCR (qRT-PCR) and immunohistochemistry respectively.
