Purpose: Cerebral aneurysms are blood-filled bulges that form at weak points in blood vessel walls, and their rupture can lead to life-threatening consequences. Given the high risk associated with these aneurysms, thorough examination and analysis are essential for determining appropriate treatment. While existing tools such as ANEULYSIS and its web-based counterpart WEBANEULYSIS provide interactive means for analyzing simulated aneurysm data, they lack support for collaborative analysis, which is crucial for enhancing interpretation and improving treatment decisions in medical team meetings.

[Type D personality style and back pain : A narrative overview of the relevance of psychosocial factors in orthopedic pain therapy].

Background: The Type D personality ("distressed personality") is characterized by a combination of negative affectivity and social inhibition. While this personality style was originally researched in the context of cardiovascular disease, recent studies also show a significant association with chronic pain disorders, especially back pain.

Objectives: This narrative review examines the current state of knowledge on the relationship between type D personality and back pain.

Angiography-like neurovascular training without radiation utilizing optical cameras and virtual roadmap imaging.

BackgroundAt present, nonvirtual neurovascular training can be performed using either an angiographic suite under fluoroscopic guidance (entailing radiation exposure) or direct optical visualization with a camera-based system. The angiographic approach offers high-fidelity visualization and catheter control but is constrained by the limited availability of such specialized facilities, whereas the camera-based approach can be implemented virtually anywhere yet lacks comparable realism in key procedural aspects. The objective of this work is to develop and evaluate a novel camera-based angiography training system (CBATS) that generates artificial angiograms and roadmaps, thereby combining the advantages of both imaging techniques while eliminating radiation exposure.

Evaluation of algorithmic requirements for clinical application of material decomposition using a multi-layer flat panel detector.

Purpose: The combination of multi-layer flat panel detector (FPDT) X-ray imaging and physics-based material decomposition algorithms allows for the removal of anatomical structures. However, the reliability of these algorithms may be compromised by unaccounted materials or scattered radiation.

Approach: We investigated the two-material decomposition performance of a multi-layer FPDT in the context of 2D chest radiography without and with a 13:1 anti-scatter grid employed.

Active esophageal cooling reduces peri-esophageal and vagal nerve injury in radiofrequency-current pulmonary vein isolation.

Background: Damage to peri-esophageal tissue may occur following pulmonary vein isolation (PVI). Active esophageal cooling has been shown to reduce the incidence of mucosal esophageal injury, probably by dissipation of heat and inhibition of inflammation. Whether it also protects the peri-esophageal vagal nerve plexus and reduces gastric hypomotility and food retention is uncertain.

The common parasite Toxoplasma gondii can infect all warm-blooded animals, including humans. Although most infections in humans remain asymptomatic, clinical toxoplasmosis can develop into a fatal disease. Objective: To convene a global consensus on () screening and eradication strategies for gastric cancer prevention, identify key knowledge gaps and outline future research directions.

Methods: 32 experts from 12 countries developed and refined consensus statements on management, using the Grading of Recommendations Assessment, Development and Evaluation (GRADE) framework to assess evidence and the Delphi method to achieve ≥80% agreement.

Results: Consensus was achieved on 28 statements.

Stress activates the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis, releasing corticosterone (CORT), which binds to glucocorticoid (GR) and mineralocorticoid (MR) receptors in the brain. While stress influences behaviorally relevant network oscillations in limbic regions such as the hippocampus, amygdala, and prefrontal cortex, the direct effects of CORT on these oscillations remain unclear. We examined the acute impact of CORT on anterior cingulate cortex (ACC) oscillations in adult male mice, a hub region for stress and anxiety regulation.

The expanding clinical utility of blood neurofilament light chain (bNfL): a multi-disciplinary diagnostic tool.

Background: The protein neurofilament light chain in blood (bNfL) has become a valuable biomarker in the diagnosis, monitoring, and prognosis of neurological diseases. However, its potential use beyond neurology in routine clinical practice remains unexplored. This study aimed to examine the clinical utility of bNfL by investigating its expanding use (i) assessing its integration into in- and outpatient routine practice, (ii) both within and outside of academic hospitals, and (iii) across different medical disciplines and various departments.

Introduction: For rare skin cancers, few data exist on the outcome of systemic therapies, particularly immune checkpoint inhibition (ICI). The present study analysed the real-world use of different systemic therapies including ICI, and its outcome in patients with advanced rare skin cancers.

Methods: This retrospective multicenter study included patients who received systemic therapy for advanced, non-resectable cutaneous angiosarcoma (AS), Kaposi sarcoma (KS), pleomorphic dermal sarcoma (PDS), or cutaneous adnexal carcinoma (CAC).

Tumors frequently evade immune destruction by impairing cytotoxic CD8 T-cell responses, highlighting the need for strategies that restore T-cell functionality. Here, we identify SLAMF7 (CD319) as a key enhancer of human CD8 T-cell responses against tumors. SLAMF7 expression is induced by pro-inflammatory signals such as IL-12 and CD28 co-stimulation.

The aim of the research project ENQuIRE was to investigate the relationship between quality indicators of emergency departments (ED) and their relevance for patient outcomes. To this end, a data base with 12,067 electronic health records (MDAT) of treatment cases in 15 German ED from 2019 was established. For these MDAT, health claims data of Techniker Krankenkasse (TK) from various service sectors were also requested.

Acalabrutinib treatment for older (≥80 years old) and/or frail patients with CLL: primary end point analysis of the CLL-Frail trial.

Because frail and patients ≥80 years with CLL are still underrepresented in clinical trials, the CLL-Frail trial aimed to evaluate the efficacy and safety of acalabrutinib in these patients. The primary endpoint was the overall response rate (ORR) after 6 cycles of treatment to test the null hypothesis of ORR ≤ 65%.53 patients were included into the trial and 34 patients are still on therapy.

Purpose: Drug-induced liver injury (DILI) is a relevant adverse event of tuberculosis treatment (TBT) especially in sub-Saharan Africa, but data remains limited. Genetic hepatic transport proteins polymorphisms (HTPP) are potential contributors. This study aimed to assess frequency and timing of DILI, identify risk factors, and explore the association of HTPP with DILI risk in Ethiopian TBT-patients.

Targeting ARPC1B Cancer Stem Cells to Sensitise Pancreatic Cancer to Gemcitabine Treatment.

ARPC1B cancer stem cells (CSCs) in pancreatic cancer are identified as a subpopulation resistant to gemcitabine. In our study, drug repositioning, molecular docking, and surface plasmon resonance (SPR) technique jointly revealed that CK-636 can directly target ARPC1B protein with high affinity. In vitro cytotoxicity, ex vivo organoid cultures, in vivo xenograft and orthotopic gemcitabine-resistant pancreatic cancer model demonstrated that combination therapy of gemcitabine plus CK-636 showed a superior anti-tumor effect compared with gemcitabine monotherapy.

Background: Genetic variants in cardiomyopathy genes are associated with risk of atrial fibrillation (AF), although data on clinical outcomes for AF patients with such variants remain sparse.

Objectives: We aimed to study the prognostic implication of rare cardiomyopathy-associated pathogenic variants (CMP-PLP) in AF patients from large, well-phenotyped clinical trials.

Methods: CMP-PLP carriers were identified using exome sequencing in 5 multinational trials from the Thrombolysis in Myocardial Infarction study group (ENGAGE AF, FOURIER, SAVOR, PEGASUS, and DECLARE), with replication in the EAST-AFNET-4 trial.

Path integration, the ability to track one's position using self-motion cues, is critically dependent on the grid cell network in the entorhinal cortex, a region vulnerable to early Alzheimer's disease pathology. In this study, we examined path integration performance in individuals with subjective cognitive decline (SCD), a group at increased risk for Alzheimer's disease, and healthy controls using an immersive virtual reality task. We developed a Bayesian computational model to decompose path integration errors into distinct components.
