Prediction of crop yield is essential for decision-makers to ensure food security and provides valuable information to farmers about factors affecting high yields. This research aimed to predict sunflower grain yield under normal and salinity stress conditions using three modeling techniques: artificial neural networks (ANN), adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference system (ANFIS), and gene expression programming (GEP). A pot experiment was conducted with 96 inbred sunflower lines (generation six) derived from crossing two parent lines, over a single growing season.

Purpose: This study explored the use of computer-aided diagnosis (CAD) systems to enhance mammography image quality and identify potentially suspicious areas, because mammography is the primary method for breast cancer screening. The primary aim was to find the best combination of preprocessing algorithms to enable more precise classification and interpretation of mammography images because the selected preprocessing algorithms significantly impact the effectiveness of later classification and segmentation processes.

Material And Methods: The study utilised the mini-MIAS database of mammography images and examined the impact of applying various preprocessing method combinations to differentiate between malignant and benign breast lesions.

In molybdenum-99 (Mo) production facilities via the fission method, appropriate transportation containers must be used to transfer irradiated targets from the irradiation facility to the processing facility, following the requirements for transferring radioactive materials. In the Mo production industrial plan of Iran, the transportation container must be capable of carrying a holster containing nine irradiated low-enriched uranium targets, known as a hot batch. In this article, the proper shielding of two-layer containers based on the gamma spectrum emitted from the radioisotope inventory of a local hot batch, including fission products, activation products, and other radioisotopes produced from their decay chains, was investigated by using Monte Carlo code MCNP6.

The severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) virus is the causative agent of the emerging zoonotic respiratory disease. One of the most important prerequisites for combating emerging diseases is the development of vaccines within a short period of time. In this study, antigen-irradiated, inactivated SARS-CoV-2 viruses and the disaccharide trehalose were used to enhance immune responses in the Syrian hamster.

Gastrin-releasing peptide receptors (GRPRs) overexpressed in many cancers are known as promising biomarkers to target tumors such as prostate, breast, and lung cancers. As the early diagnosis of the cancers can serve for better treatment of the patients, [In]In-DOTA-Pip-D-Phe-Gln-Trp-Ala-Val-Gly-His-Sta-Leu-NH2 ([In]In-RM2) was prepared using an in-house developed Sn/In generator. 0.

The research discussed in this paper focused on experimental data using a perforated rotating disc column to determine the factors that impact the distribution of drop sizes. A standard test system was utilized, consisting of zinc ions and D2EHPA extractant. When the rotor speed is increased, a majority of droplets display a smaller range of diameters, primarily because of decreased coalescence and increased breakup effects.

  • Liver cancer is a major cause of cancer deaths, and using beta-emitting radionuclides in targeted treatments like Ho-hydroxyapatite (Ho-HA) is a promising approach.
  • The study estimated radiation absorbed doses of Ho-HA in the liver and other tissues using specific calculation methods, revealing that over 84% of the dose concentrated in liver tissue.
  • Ho-HA treatment allows for high doses to the tumor while minimizing exposure to healthy tissues, suggesting its potential effectiveness for liver cancer therapy.

This study describes the use of the emulsion liquid membrane (ELM) technique to recover thorium (Th(IV)) from an aqueous nitrate solution. The components of the ELM were kerosene as a diluent, sorbitan monooleate (span 80) as a surfactant, bis(2,4,4-trimethylpentyl)phosphinic acid (Cyanex 272) as an extractant, and HSO solution as a stripping reagent. Th(IV) was more successfully extracted and separated under the following favorable conditions: Cyanex272 concentration of 0.

A radiation shield consists of borated polyethylene (7 % wt of boron) and lead was used for the HPGe detector in Isfahan MNSR's PGNAA facility in order to remove scattered neutrons and gamma rays, respectively. Therefore, the boron peak in gamma spectroscopy is related to both resources in the sample and in the shield, and it has caused a challenge in determination of boron concentration in the samples. In this research, various methods have been investigated to remove the effect of boron in the shield of the detector.
