Background: Distal radius fractures (DRFs) are among the most frequent injuries in older adults, especially those with osteoporosis. In India, these fractures are becoming more common due to longer life spans, changing lifestyles, and increasing rates of undiagnosed osteoporosis.
Objective: To explore the growing burden of osteoporotic DRFs and evaluate current approaches to their management, focusing on both non-surgical and surgical strategies tailored for the aging population.

Artificial intelligence (AI) tools such as ChatGPT are revolutionising academic work, particularly for researchers in the Global South who often face inequitable access to resources and publishing support. This article explores how AI can empower early-career scholars, non-native English speakers, and unaffiliated researchers by aiding literature review, scientific writing, and language refinement - functions traditionally limited to those with institutional privileges. Drawing a parallel with the historical evolution from library binders to PubMed, the article challenges prevailing scepticism around AI use in academia.

Objective: Transoral endoscopic thyroidectomy via the vestibular approach (TOETVA) offers a scarless alternative to conventional thyroidectomy. Most studies incorporate intraoperative neuromonitoring (IONM), which may be unavailable in resource-limited settings. We evaluated the learning curve, feasibility, and safety of TOETVA without IONM.

Objecitve: Postoperative ileus (POI) is a significant complication after ileostomy closure, which results in recurrent vomiting, dehydration, delay in starting enteral feeding, and even anastomotic breakdown. We aimed to develop a prediction model for POI occurrence after ileostomy closure.
Material And Methods: One hundred consecutive patients undergoing ileostomy closure were studied prospectively and data of various demographic and clinical variables were recorded in a predesigned proforma.

Aim: To perform comparison of preoperative and postoperative mean transit time (MTT) delay in ipsilateral, and contralateral hemispheres in Moyamoya disease using dynamic susceptibility contrast (DSC) perfusion.
Material And Methods: Preoperative images were obtained within 1 week before surgery and postoperative images were taken 3 months after surgery. Cerebral perfusion was assessed in bilateral middle cerebral artery territories with 3 Region Of Interest (ROI) on each side (ipsilateral and contralateral to surgery side).

Background: Proficiency in neuroendoscopic techniques is vital in modern neurosurgery, especially with the rising prominence of endoscopic endonasal procedures. Traditional training methods face challenges due to cadaver scarcity and cost-prohibitive simulators.
Objective: To explore the feasibility of using goat head carcasses for training in endoscopic pituitary surgery.

For decades, surgical care was sidelined in global health policy, perceived as costly, complex, and secondary to communicable disease control. However, the past two decades have witnessed a paradigm shift, with evidence highlighting surgery's critical role in addressing nearly 30% of the global disease burden. Landmark efforts like the 2015 Lancet Commission on Global Surgery and WHO Resolution WHA68.

Background: The management of early breast cancer patients with metastatic sentinel lymph nodes (SLNs) remains a critical decision point in balancing survival outcomes with surgical morbidities. This study addresses whether sentinel lymph node biopsy (SLNB) with or without regional node irradiation (RNI) can offer comparable survival outcomes to axillary lymph node dissection (ALND).
Objectives: To evaluate overall survival (OS), disease-free survival (DFS), locoregional recurrence (LRR), and mortality outcomes of SLNB (with or without RNI) compared with ALND in patients with metastasis-positive SLNs.

The large number of medical conferences held per year has a significant impact on the environment. Climate change and global warming then lead to deleterious effects on human health. We aim to highlight that it is our responsibility as doctors to promote eco-friendly events and encourage sustainable practices, thus reducing harm to our environment.

Managing perianal fistulae involves balancing the risks of incontinence and recurrence, with existing classification systems offering limited guidance for surgical decision-making. Garg's classification provides a detailed assessment of fistula anatomy, aiding the choice between fistulotomy and sphincter-sparing procedures. This study evaluates its predictive accuracy.

Background: Management of axillary lymph nodes (ALNs) in breast cancer patients remains pivotal for staging and planning therapeutic strategies. However, In low-resource settings, achieving accurate axillary staging while avoiding overtreatment remains a challenge as the majority of patients present with advanced stage. In this prospective validation study, we assessed the efficacy of axillary ultrasound (AUS) combined with touch imprint cytology (TIC) for predicting negative axillary status in cT2-3 breast cancer patients.

Introduction: Simulation-based training (SBT) has become an essential component of surgical education. However, the definitive evidence for dissrect patient outcomes remains inconsistent. This prompted us to conduct this systematic review and meta-analysis to evaluate Kirkpatrick Level 4 evidence on whether SBT translates into clinical benefits and improves patient outcomes.

Neuroendoscopy can be learnt by assisting or doing live human surgery, cadaver dissection with or without augmented pulsatile vessel and cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) perfusion, and practicing on live animal, dead animal model, synthetic models, three-dimensional printing model with or without augmentation with animal, cadaver tissue, pulsatile vessel and reconstructed CSF model, virtual reality (VR) simulator, and hybrid simulators (combined physical model and VR model). Neurosurgery skill laboratory with basic and advanced learning should be there in all teaching hospitals. Skills can be transferred from simulation model or VR to cadaver to live surgery.
