Osteoporotic Distal Radius Fracture: Surgical Care.

Background: Distal radius fractures (DRFs) are among the most frequent injuries in older adults, especially those with osteoporosis. In India, these fractures are becoming more common due to longer life spans, changing lifestyles, and increasing rates of undiagnosed osteoporosis.

Objective: To explore the growing burden of osteoporotic DRFs and evaluate current approaches to their management, focusing on both non-surgical and surgical strategies tailored for the aging population.

'Constriction Band Syndrome': Retained Rubber Band as a Less-Known Cause of Pain and Non-healing Sinus Tracts of Wrist in a Paediatric Patient.

Rubber band constriction syndrome has been described in the literature, although there are very few case reports. Non-healing recurrent tenosynovitis and synovitis of the wrist joint demonstrating a circular rubber band on imaging has not been described before. Imaging studies showed retained circular band deep to the extensor tendons, embedded within the joint capsule.

TFCC injuries: How we treat?

The triangular fibrocartilage complex (TFCC) is a well defined anatomical entity located on the ulnar aspect of the wrist joint functioning primarily to stabilize the distal radio -ulnar joint (DRUJ) and also to act as a shock absorber across the ulno-carpal joint. Palmer and Werner were first to explain the anatomic details of the TFCC and to describe its biomechanical role at the wrist. The TFCC comprises of the fibro-cartilagenous disc, the dorsal and palmar ligaments spanning across radius and ulna, the ulno-carpal ligaments, a meniscal homolog, and the sub sheath of ulnar extensor of the wrist.

Kienböck's disease: Where do we stand?

Avascular necrosis of the lunate, commonly known as Kienböck's disease is a disorder that can lead to carpal collapse and the need for surgeries, which can stabilize the wrist. There are different associations with the disease but the exact etiology is unknown. Kienböck's disease is believed to result from mechanical and vascular factors in genetically predisposed individuals.

Thumb ultrasound: Technique and pathologies.

Ultrasound is ideally suited for the assessment of complex anatomy and pathologies of the thumb. Focused and dynamic thumb ultrasound can provide a rapid real-time diagnosis and can be used for guided treatment in certain clinical situations. We present a simplified approach to scanning technique for thumb-related pathologies and illustrate a spectrum of common and uncommon pathologies encountered.

Replantation in scapulothoracic avulsion amputation of the right upper limb in a 3-year-old child- A preliminary report.

Replantations for major amputations of upper extremity have been widely performed. We report a unique case of successful replantation of scapulothoracic avulsion amputation in a child. In this manuscript, we discuss the various challenges faced during the procedure and chances of neural recovery.

Managing scaphoid fractures. How we do it?

The scaphoid is the common carpal bone to be fractured. Proper clinical and radiological evaluation is required to establish it's diagnosis. The management of acute fractures includes conservative treatment with cast in minimally displaced to open reduction and internal fixation in case of displaced ones.

A comparative analysis between fixed bearing total knee arthroplasty (PFC Sigma) and rotating platform total knee arthroplasty (PFC-RP) with minimum 3-year follow-up.

Background: Since the introduction of mobile bearing total knee designs nearly 30 years back, many studies have been done to evaluate its long-term result. Comparison with fixed bearing designs has been done in the past, but the studies were confounded by variables such as disease, surgeon, bone quality, pain tolerance, etc. We attempt to eliminate these variables in this study.
