Lignocellulosic materials derived from by-products such as cellulose typically provide enhanced interfacial properties when functionalized with coupling agents, such as maleic anhydride (MA), and incorporated into polylactic acid (PLA) polymers. This research aims to identify the optimal conditions for either improving or maintaining PLA properties evaluating interactions by incorporating varying amounts of cellulose (5-28 wt%) extracted from sawdust biomass and PLA-g-MA (3-20 wt%) composites into pure PLA. This is accomplished through an extreme vertices mixture design (EVMD).

The importance of physical activity, sedentary behaviour, and sleep behaviour in adolescents with type 1 diabetes (T1D) has been explored in isolation. However, adolescents experience health benefits when these behaviours are balanced appropriately throughout the day, and are considered to be interconnected rather than isolated. The aim of this study was to investigate the perspectives of adolescents living with T1D towards these behaviours collectively.

Crossover randomized controlled trials (RCTs) are common in exercise and nutrition sciences. Since researchers randomize participants to different sequences of the treatment and comparator/control conditions, crossover RCTs are powerful for detecting mean treatment effects under certain circumstances. We aim to review the information that can be derived from crossover RCTs about treatment response heterogeneity-a fundamental issue in precision medicine for tailoring treatments to individuals.

The prediction of detonation parameters is a challenging task requiring to bridge the gap between microscopic molecular features and macroscopic materials properties. Whereas traditional routes are concerned with empirical equations, we present a machine learning approach to this task here. Our approach capitalizes on molecular descriptors from high-level quantum chemistry as input to produce models fitted against experimental reference data to model three key quantities: the crystalline density, the detonation velocity, and the heat of formation.

We examine energetic electron transport in Earth's outer radiation belt, presenting a mechanism for rapid (nondiffusive) radial transport. This process relies on electron crossings of an asymmetric separatrix in slow-fast Hamiltonian system, occurring in Earth's dayside magnetosphere due to interactions with the interplanetary magnetic field. The resulting asymmetry quickly destroys adiabatic invariant through geometric jumps, driving exponential phase-space mixing and enhancing radial transport of ≳1  MeV electrons during geomagnetically quiet conditions.
