Background: Molecular aberrations have been incorporated into tumour classification guidelines of meningioma. TERT-promoter (TERTp) mutation is associated with worse prognosis and is designated a WHO grade 3 biomarker. However, it remains unclear whether TERTp mutation is context-dependent, with other co-occurring genetic alterations potentially driving its association with prognosis.

Titanium dioxide nanoparticles (TiO NPs) are well suited for cosmetics and polymer films because they efficiently absorb UV light while remaining transparent to visible light. Their widespread use requires strategies for managing potential human and environmental risks. Implementing the Safe and Sustainable by Design (SSbD) methodology to advanced chemicals and materials is a major global challenge and a concept that is included in several EU research projects.

The Atlantic blue crab (Callinectes sapidus Rathbun, 1896) is a euryhaline and eurythermal species native to the Atlantic coasts of the Americas. Although its widespread distribution across the Mediterranean basin is well documented, information on its reproductive patterns remains limited. This study focused on the combination of both macroscopic and histologic characterization of ovarian developmental stages in female blue crabs along the north-central Italian Adriatic coast, within the spawning period.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, governmental agencies expanded safety net programs to ameliorate profound economic suffering. However, structural challenges excluded many low-income, immigrant, and racially minoritized communities, deepening inequities. and community-based organizations (CBOs), whose models focus on addressing structural drivers of inequities, were vital to communities navigating these challenges.

Tissue resident memory T cells (TRM) provide protection against local re-infection, and yet the interstitial signals that govern their formation and persistence remain poorly defined. Here, we show that antigen-dependent induction of the chemokine receptor CXCR6, is a conserved adaptation to peripheral tissue infiltration that promotes TRM formation after viral infection. Deficient TRM formation in the absence of CXCR6 was not explained by trafficking as CXCR6 was not required for tissue entry, was dispensable for the early accumulation of antigen-specific CD8+ T cells in skin, and did not restrain their exit.

Introduction: Atopic dermatitis (AD) is a chronic, highly pruritic, relapsing inflammatory disease associated with high quality-of-life burden. Topical 1.5% ruxolitinib cream is a selective Janus kinase (JAK)1/JAK2 inhibitor that is well tolerated and effective in improving itch and lesion clearance in patients ≥ 12 years old.

Background And Aims: Hepatitis B (HBV) and Hepatitis Delta virus (HDV) infection have undergone significant changes in Italy over the past few decades, but reliable and updated prevalence of chronic hepatitis B (CHB) and Delta (CHD) data are lacking. The aim of the study was to describe the epidemiology of CHB and CHD in Italy in 2024, based on real-world data.
Methods: The number of patients with a healthcare expenditure exemption for CHB (016.

Objective: To compare pre-eclampsia risk screening by risk factors and the multivariable competing-risks model.
Methods: This prospective cohort study enrolled singleton pregnancies, without major anomalies, and delivering at ≥24 weeks. PE risk was compared between the Fetal Medicine Foundation (FMF) model and clinical risk factors, by National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) guidance, United Kingdom (UK), and 'NICE-modified' by adding Black ethnicity and social deprivation (Index of Multiple Deprivation [IMD] deciles 1-4) as moderate-risk factors.

This study investigates the responses of four Mediterranean tree species, Quercus ilex, Viburnum tinus, Acer campestre, and Fraxinus ornus, to urban-relevant abiotic stressors such as soil compaction, water deficit, and over-optimal temperature, applied singly and in combination under controlled experimental conditions. A total of 23 functional leaf traits spanning photosynthesis, water regulation, structural support, and leaf stoichiometry functions were measured. Species identity was the main driver of trait variability.

Loneliness is a pressing public health concern with significant economic, health and social consequences. This paper examines the impact of economic downturns, particularly unemployment and job loss perception, on loneliness in Australia. Using a fixed-effects panel regression applied to 19 waves of data, we find that unemployment is significantly linked to an increased likelihood of experiencing loneliness and other dimensions of social health, with the effects of unemployment on loneliness persisting for several years.

Objectives: This capacity and budget impact analysis considers implications of offering a more diversified benign prostate enlargement (BPE) surgical care offering from a healthcare payer perspective in Sweden, Denmark, Norway and Finland.
Methods: A cohort simulation model compares 4-year treatment costs and capacity impact, including hospital bed-days and operating time, with Transurethral Resection of the Prostate (TURP), Holmium Laser Enucleation of the Prostate (HoLEP) using MOSES™Technology, photoselective vaporisation of the prostate (PVP) and Rezūm™ Water Vapour Therapy (WVTT). Current treatment choice is compared to a hypothetical scenario, where TURP-proportion is reduced to 50% and volumes of HoLEP, PVP and WVTT are increased.

Purpose: Reirradiation in abdominal malignancies has grown more common with advanced radiotherapy techniques. However, clinical use and implementation varies, and there remains limited consensus on best practices for reirradiation. In this systematic review, a multidisciplinary team treating gastrointestinal and hepatobiliary malignancies within the Reirradiation Collaborative Group (ReCOG) convened to review published literature on reirradiation in the abdomen to offer insights into patient selection, radiotherapy planning, risk management, and assessing knowledge gaps for future development of guidelines.

Infrared spectroscopy is widely used to probe the structural organization of biologically relevant molecules, including peptides, proteins, and nucleic acids. The latter show significant structural diversity, and specific infrared bands provide insights into their conformational ensembles. Among DNA/RNA infrared bands, the CO stretching modes are especially useful, as they are sensitive to the distinct structural arrangements within nucleic acids.

Charting the organization of white matter (WM) pathways is essential for understanding the functioning of the human brain. This study provides a comprehensive, anatomically enhanced characterization of the superior longitudinal system (SLS) by integrating in-vivo tractography with ex-vivo dissection within the same radiological space. Using a data-driven cortex-to-cortex pairing approach leveraging gyral-sulcal macroanatomical landmarks, we reconstructed the dorsal associative connectivity of the frontal cortex in 39 healthy participants.

Background: Low systolic blood pressure (SBP) is a key criterion for diagnosing cardiogenic shock (CS) caused by a reduction in stroke volume and cardiac output (CO). The temporal interaction between changes in pressure and flow has not been well described in the development of CS. In a large animal model, we assessed the temporal relationships of SBP, CO, and blood flow in the carotid artery during induction of CS.

Purpose: Acute bowel obstruction (ABO) is a common indication for emergency abdominal surgery, often performed on a severely dilated intestine with compromised barrier function. The recovery of bowel motility in this acute setting differs from elective surgery and remains insufficiently investigated. Yet, its understanding is crucial for improving perioperative care in surgical emergencies.

Maximal safe surgical resection remains a critical component of glioblastoma (GBM) management, improving both survival and quality of life. However, complete tumor removal is hindered by the infiltrative nature of GBM and its proximity to eloquent brain regions. Fluorescence-guided surgery (FGS) has emerged as a valuable tool to enhance intraoperative tumor visualization and optimize resection outcomes.
