Developing and validating a rubric-based approach to quality assurance in Turkish higher education.

This study, initiated by the Turkish Higher Education Quality Council (THEQC), develops and validates a rubric-based approach for evaluating institutional quality assurance (QA) processes within the Turkish higher education ecosystem. Effective quality assurance (QA) in higher education requires evaluation tools that are methodologically robust, responsive to institutional needs, and aligned with international benchmarks. A rubric-based approach offers a structured and transparent framework for consistent assessments.

Assessing the reliability and educational value of YouTube videos on computer-controlled local anesthesia in dentistry.

Objective: This study aimed to assess the scientific accuracy, content quality, and educational value of YouTube™ videos related to computer-controlled local anesthesia (CCLA) techniques in dentistry.

Materials And Methods: A total of 100 videos were screened using predefined keywords, and 48 met the inclusion criteria. Videos were assessed using the Global Quality Scale (GQS), DISCERN tool, JAMA benchmark criteria, and the Video Information and Quality Index (VIQI).

Determination of anxiety, hopelessness and depression levels of patients after lung resection.

This study aimed to investigate the levels of depression, anxiety, and hopelessness in patients following lung resection surgery, as well as the interrelationships among these variables. A descriptive and correlational study was conducted with 177 patients who underwent lung resection between November 2019 and May 2022. Data were collected using a Sociodemographic Information Form, the Beck Hopelessness Scale, the Beck Depression Scale (BDS), and the State-Trait Anxiety Scale (STAI), all administered postoperatively.

Methods: Thirty-two eyes of 32 patients with moderate or severe active GO and 32 eyes of 32 healthy participants were included.

The Long-Term Management of a Compound Odontoma: Successful Implant Rehabilitation After a Four-Year Follow-Up.

We present a case of a 15-year-old patient with a compound odontoma associated with an unerupted maxillary canine, leading to delayed dental development.

The Impact of Femoral Anteversion Correction on Clinical Outcomes in Total Hip Arthroplasty for Adult Developmental Dysplasia of the Hip.

Total hip arthroplasty (THA) in adult patients with developmental dysplasia of the hip (DDH) presents unique surgical challenges due to altered hip anatomy and biomechanics. One of the most critical factors influencing surgical success is correcting femoral anteversion. This study evaluates the effects of different anteversion corrections (increased, unchanged, and decreased) during THA on clinical outcomes in adult Crowe type 3-4 DDH patients.

Cervical proprioception and dysphagia severity in multiple sclerosis: A cross-sectional clinical analysis.

This study aimed to investigate the relationship between dysphagia severity and neck proprioception, pain, and mood in individuals with multiple sclerosis (MS). The individuals were divided into two groups according to the severity of dysphagia: dysphagia group (n = 13) with a score of 3 and above on the Dysphagia Assessment Scale in Multiple Sclerosis (DYMUS) scale and mild dysphagia group (n = 13) with a score of 2 and below. Clinical swallowing function was evaluated with the Turkish version of the Eating Assessment Tool-10 (T-EAT-10) and DYMUS.

Adaptation of the incivility in nursing education-revised survey: a validity and reliability study.

Background: Academic incivility is one of the most significant issues that disrupt the learning process for nursing students and adversely affects the quality of nursing care. Therefore, it is crucial to assess incivility within the nursing academic environment using valid and reliable measurement tools. The Efficacy and Safety of Hepatitis A Vaccine in Children and Young Adults With an Autoinflammatory Diseases on Canakinumab and Tocilizumab Treatments: A Prospective Observational Controlled Study.

Intro: In this prospective interventional study, we aimed to assess the efficacy and safety of the hepatitis A vaccine in patients with autoinflammatory diseases undergoing canakinumab and tocilizumab treatments.

Methods: A total of 24 patients with autoinflammatory diseases on canakinumab and tocilizumab treatments and 39 healthy children who were seronegative for hepatitis A were included in the study. All participants were vaccinated with 2 doses of inactivated hepatitis A vaccine at 6-month intervals.

Effects of Covid-19 pandemic on nutritional habits, lifestyle changes and dental trauma frequency of children with autism: a cross-sectional study.

Background: The Covid-19 pandemic has disrupted daily routines and lifestyle habits, affecting the psychological well-being and dietary habits of individuals, especially children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). This study aims to evaluate the susceptibility of children with ASD to changes in nutritional habits, lifestyle, and dental trauma during the pandemic related with oral health and compare them with healthy children.

Methods: This study, conducted at Istanbul University, involves children aged 3-14 diagnosed with ASD at the Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, and healthy children who visited the Department of Pedodontics.

An overlooked connection: oral health status in patients with chronic diseases.

Background: Oral and systemic health are closely linked. Chronic diseases like diabetes mellitus, cardiovascular diseases, and hypertension increase the risk of dental caries, periodontal disease and tooth loss. Moreover, poor oral health can worsen the status of systemic diseases.

Evaluation of the effect of subclinical hypothyroidism on retinal blood flow. OCT angiography study.

Purpose: To evaluate retinal blood flow and retinal nerve fiber layer (RNFL) thickness in untreated subclinical hypothyroid patients by optical coherence tomography angiography (OCT-A).

Methods: Forty-four eyes of 44 patients in the subclinical hypothyroidism group (SCHG) and 42 eyes of 42 healthy subjects in the control group (CG) were included in the study. Macular superficial retinal blood flow (SRBF), peripapillary RNFL thickness and optic nerve head cup to disk ratio (C/D) were measured and recorded by OCT angiography and compared between the patient and control groups.
