Introduction: Research has found a correlation between screen exposure in early childhood and children's socio-emotional development, particularly in Global North countries. However, the direction of the effect has not been extensively studied in early childhood, especially in Global South contexts. This study aims to describe the relationship and the bidirectional longitudinal associations between screen exposure and children's internalizing and externalizing problems among children in Chile.

Primary health care policy investments in the Latin America context: Health systems experiences from Brazil, Chile, and Colombia.

This study examines the policy investments in Primary Health Care (PHC) within the health systems of Brazil, Chile, and Colombia, highlighting their contributions toward achieving Universal Health Coverage (UHC). Employing a qualitative methodology, the research includes an institutional historical review and interviews with key stakeholders to analyze the development of PHC financing policies and practices in these countries. Brazil, with its Unified Health System (SUS), demonstrates federal leadership through initiatives like Requalifica UBS and the new PAC, albeit facing challenges in regional equity and monitoring.

Clinical and Demographic Characteristics Associated with Type 1 Diabetes Distress in Latin American Children.

Objective: To determine the degree of diabetes-specific distress in children with type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM) and its association with demographic characteristics, family and educational situation indicators, glycemic control, complications, and disease duration.

Study Design: A cross-sectional study (Jan-Mar 2025) in Argentina and Chile included 143 T1DM patients (8-17 years, ≥1-year duration). Diabetes distress was measured using the Problem Areas in Diabetes (PAID) questionnaire (0-80; high distress ≥40).

Financial literacy is an essential life skill for young adults, particularly college students facing increasing financial responsibilities. This study conducted a systematic literature review following the PRISMA methodology, analyzing 44 peer-reviewed studies to identify the most prevalent dimensions of financial literacy among college students. The results show that while research focuses primarily on broad categories such as financial knowledge and behavior, more specific subtopics, such as budgeting, credit card use, student loans, and digital financial tools, are unevenly addressed or under-explored.

Background: Cervical cancer is primarily caused by the Human Papillomavirus (HPV). Despite all the advances in early detection of HPV infection, cervical cancer remains one of the most common types of cancer in women, with a high presence in Latin America. We previously reported on the prevalence of HPV in the Coquimbo region, so the objective of this study was to determine the frequency of HPV in women in the Antofagasta and Arica regions of northern Chile.

Active commuting (AC) provides an opportunity to increase physical activity and reduce the MetS risk. The purpose of this study was to synthesize the available evidence on the prevalence of MetS and MetS risk factors in relation to AC vs non-active commuting among adults, adolescents, and children.

Differences in muscle atrophy between the lower limbs and the accessory respiratory muscles in critically ill patients.

Purpose: This study aimed to investigate muscle atrophy in critically ill patients using ultrasonography. We compared the rectus femoris (a major muscle of the lower limbs) with the sternocleidomastoid (an accessory respiratory muscle).

Methods: Thirty-four patients hospitalized at the Critical Care Medical Center of Kindai University Hospital between January 2022 and March 2023 were enrolled.

Tofu from six different landraces of chilean common beans (Araucano, Cimarrón, Magnum, Peumo, Sapito, and Tortola) was prepared and analyzed for proximate and lipid composition, antioxidant capacity, and phenolic content. Tofu has higher protein and lipid content, lower carbohydrate and phenolic content, and shows antioxidant capacity. The highest total protein was found for tofu prepared from Cimarrón and Sapito beans.

Purpose: (a) To design a methodology for drawing random samples of any Ensemble Average Propagator (EAP) (b) to modify the KomaMRI simulator to accommodate them as realistic spin movements to simulate diffusion MRI (dMRI) and (c) to compare these simulations with those based on the Diffusion Tensor (DT) model.

Theory And Methods: The rejection method is used for random sampling of EAPs: starting from a probability law that is easily sampled, and whose density function wraps the target EAP, samples are accepted when they lie inside the targeted region. This is used to sample the EAP as described by Mean Apparent Propagator MRI (MAP-MRI) and in Spherical Convolution (SC) based on Spherical Harmonics (SH).

Methods: This cross-sectional, mixed-methods survey of ACP/AD in LA comprised interviews with 18 key informants from 18 out of 20 countries, most of whom were appointed by national Palliative Care Associations.
