Dual-Action Nanotherapy: Temozolomide-Loaded, Anti-PD-L1 scFv-Functionalized Lipid Nanocarriers for Targeted Glioblastoma Therapy.

Eur J Pharm Sci

September 2025

Department of Neurology, Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston, MA, 02129, USA; Neuroscience Program, Harvard Medical School, Boston, MA, 02129, USA. Electronic address:

Glioblastoma (GBM) is a highly malignant brain tumor with limited treatment options and poor prognosis. GBM exhibits resistance to conventional therapies, including temozolomide (TMZ), radiotherapy, and immunotherapy, partly due to immunosuppressive mechanisms such as programmed death-ligand 1 (PD-L1) overexpression. To address these challenges, we developed TMZ-loaded nanostructured lipid carriers (NLCs) conjugated with anti-PD-L1 single-chain variable fragments (scFv) for dual chemo-immunotherapy.

Evaluation of Kienböck's Disease through Distal Radius Sagittal Plane Analysis.

Orthop Traumatol Surg Res

September 2025

Ankara University Medical Faculty, Orthopedics and Traumatology Department, Hand and Upper Extremity Surgery Division, Ankara, Turkey.

Background: Kienböck's disease poses challenges in plate placement during radial shortening osteotomy due to steep metaphyseal inclinations of the distal radius. While coronal plane analyses have been extensively studied, sagittal plane deformities remain underexplored. This study addresses the anatomical variations in the sagittal plane associated with Kienböck's disease.

Neck pain is among the most prevalent musculoskeletal conditions worldwide. The underlying cause mostly remains unidentified, classified as non-specific neck pain. Pain can alter movement patterns and physiological responses, suggesting that certain biomechanical and physiological changes may serve as objective biomarkers for non-specific neck pain.

Background: Acute heart failure with reduced ejection fraction (AHF) remains a leading cause of ED visits, hospitalizations, and in-hospital mortality.

Objectives: To evaluate the prognostic utility of the Scottish Inflammatory Prognostic Score (SIPS) in patients with AHF.

Methods: This retrospective study analyzed 508 patients admitted with AHF between November 2022 and November 2024.

Entheseal structural damage according to OMERACT definitions unveils distinct ultrasound phenotypes in SpA: findings from the DEUS multicentre study.

Semin Arthritis Rheum

August 2025

Leeds Institute of Rheumatic and Musculoskeletal Medicine, University of Leeds, Leeds, UK; Rheumatology Unit, Department of Clinical and Molecular Sciences, "Carlo Urbani" Hospital, Polytechnic University of Marche, Ancona, Italy. Electronic address:

Objectives: To explore the prevalence and distribution of ultrasound-detected lesions indicating structural damage at the enthesis (e.g., bone erosions, enthesophytes, and calcifications) in patients with spondyloarthritis (SpA), comparing those with axial spondyloarthritis (axSpA) and psoriatic arthritis (PsA), and to investigate the demographic, clinical, and metabolic factors linked to these lesions.

Recent years have seen the development and advent of novel combinatorial strategies based on immunotherapy, and immune checkpoint inhibitor (ICI) - based treatment has established itself as a mainstay in the treatment of metastatic urothelial carcinoma (UC). Herein, we aimed to validate the prognostic value of a previously developed score, the Prognostic Immunotherapy Score (PIS), including female sex, Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group Performance Status (ECOG-PS) and liver metastases, in patients treated with pembrolizumab for advanced UC from the ARON-2 dataset. We retrospectively analyzed clinical data from Metastatic UC patients diagnosed at age ≥ 18 years.

Background: A dearth of evidence exists on how to include children and young people in palliative care research.

Aim: We aimed to identify successful practices in involvement, recruitment and data collection with children and young people with life-limiting illness in research.

Design: We synthesised methods from five primary studies from three geographical regions in which children with life-limiting conditions were recruited and interviewed.

Purpose: This study aimed to evaluate the impact of different hearing devices on sound localization and speech perception in individuals with single-sided deafness (SSD). Specifically, the study sought to assess the performance of softband bone-anchored hearing aids (BAHAs) and contralateral routing of signals hearing aids (CROS HA) in various conditions to determine their effectiveness in improving auditory outcomes for SSD patients.

Method: Eighteen participants (aged between 20 and 50 years) with SSD underwent tests using softband BAHA, CROS HA, and unaided conditions in a counterbalanced design.

Background: Interatrial block (IAB) is an electrocardiographic manifestation of atrial conduction delay and structural remodeling. While it has been linked to atrial fibrillation (AF) and thromboembolic events, its potential role in predicting left atrial appendage (LAA) thrombus formation remains underexplored. This study aimed to investigate the association between IAB and the presence of LAA thrombus in patients with nonvalvular AF (NVAF) or atrial flutter referred for rhythm control procedures.

Background: Dorsal root ganglion (DRG) pulsed radiofrequency (PRF) is a minimally invasive neuromodulation technique used for the management of chronic radicular pain. While its analgesic effects are well-documented, its impact on sensorimotor integration at the cortical level remains unclear. This study aimed to investigate whether DRG PRF modulates sensorimotor integration via the cholinergic system using the Short-Latency Afferent Inhibition (SAI) paradigm.

Objective: To compare tibial tubercle-trochlear groove (TT-TG) and tibial tubercle-Roman arch (TT-RA) distances in patients with patellar dislocation or subluxation, evaluate TT-RA reliability and reproducibility, and determine pathological threshold values for surgical treatment using magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and computed tomography (CT).

Materials And Methods: Retrospective analysis included 259 patient and 262 control examinations of knee MRIs and/or CTs performed. TT-RA, TT-TG, and tibial tubercle-posterior cruciate ligament (TT-PCL) distances, Roman Arch height, trochlear sulcus angle, and total femoral condyle width were measured by two radiologists, and trochlear morphology was assessed.
