This research investigates the predictive modeling of ultra-high-performance concrete (UHPC) incorporating industrial byproducts, focusing on compressive strength (Fc), flexural strength (Ff), workability (Slump), and porosity. Various machine learning models, including Kstar, M5Rules, ElasticNet, XNV, and Decision Table (DT), were evaluated to determine the most accurate predictions for each property. The findings indicate that Kstar outperformed other models across all categories, demonstrating the highest accuracy and lowest errors in predicting Fc, Ff, Slump, and Porosity.

Systemin, the first signalling peptide identified in plants, mediates induced resistance against insect herbivores and necrotrophic pathogens in tomato. Initially, systemin was conceived as a hormone-like, long-distance messenger that triggers systemic defence responses far from the site of insect attack. It was later found to rather act as a phytocytokine, amplifying the local wound response for the production of downstream signals that activate defence gene expression in distant tissues.

This research presents a novel data-driven framework for predicting the mechanical properties of waste glass aggregate concrete using six advanced metaheuristic optimization algorithms: Bat Algorithm (Bat), Cuckoo Search Algorithm (Cuckoo), Elephant Herding Optimization (Elephant), Firefly Algorithm (Firefly), Rhinoceros Optimization Algorithm (Rhino), and Gray Wolf Optimizer (Wolf). The study evaluates these models based on their ability to predict compressive strength (Fc), tensile strength (Ft), density, and slump using key statistical performance indicators such as SSE, MAE, MSE, RMSE, accuracy, R, and KGE. Sensitivity analysis was conducted using Hoffman and Gardener's method as well as the SHAP technique to determine the most influential parameter in the prediction process.

Carboxamide derivatives are a promising class of compounds in anticancer drug discovery, owing to their ability to interact with multiple oncogenic targets and their favorable pharmacological profiles. In this study, we report the design, synthesis, and biological evaluation of a series of -substituted 1-indole-2-carboxamides as potential anticancer agents. The synthesized compounds were assessed for antiproliferative activity using the MTT assay against MCF-7 (breast cancer), K-562 (leukemia), and HCT-116 (colon cancer) cell lines, with normal human dermal fibroblasts included as a non-cancerous control.

This study investigates the potential of olive cake, a widely available agricultural residue in Jordan, as a sustainable biomass feedstock for hydrogen production via advanced gasification techniques. The goal is to optimize hydrogen yield by employing a combined steam-air gasification method, addressing challenges such as high ash and lignin content, variable moisture, and complex chemical composition Advanced optimization techniques, including machine learning models (Extreme Gradient Boosting, XGBoost) and the modified fire hawk optimizer, are used to optimize key gasification parameters: steam-to-biomass ratio, temperature, pressure, and air-to-biomass ratio. The gasification process is modelled by focusing on key thermochemical stages like decomposition, pyrolysis, combustion, and reduction.

Forces acting between an atomic force microscopy silicon nitride cantilever and the bacterial surface biopolymers of Escherichia coli or Pseudomonas putida were spatially probed in water. The interactions were fitted to a model of steric repulsion to estimate the bacterial surface biopolymer brush length and grafting density. The forces were further fitted to a Hertz model of contact mechanics modified by Sneddon et al.

Introduction: Water scarcity and soil salinization are increasingly becoming limiting factors in food production, including olives, a major fruit crop in several parts of the world. Investigating historical olives, which are the last resort for genetic resources, is essential due to their natural resilience to drought and salinity, making them valuable for breeding stress-tolerant cultivars and ensuring sustainable olive production.
Methods: In this study, four historic olive cultivars ('Nabali', 'Mehras', 'Frantoio', and 'Manzanillo') were investigated under both drought and salinity stresses.
