Article Abstract

One of the keys to medical microwave tomography is understanding the sensitivity of transmit-receive signals to changes in the electromagnetic properties to be reconstructed. This information is embedded in the Jacobian matrix for traditional inverse problem approaches and is a function of transmitter-receiver design characteristics and associated signal radiation/detection patterns. Previous efforts focused primarily on the 2D imaging problem for which sensitivity maps were generated in a single plane. In this paper, we describe sensitivity maps for the full 3D problem for monopole transceivers and their implications for associated antenna array configurations, including imaging zone coverage and computational efficiency.

Design strategies for energy-harvesting photovoltaics in diverse environments.

Indoor photovoltaics (IPVs) are small and not optimized for versatile environments, making them environmentally sensitive. To expand the application of energy-harvesting photovoltaics, overcoming the current problems and mismatch loss is important. In this study, we found that IPVs are sensitive to changes in current density under low illuminance, and we introduced a protocol to reveal the modules resulting in the smallest standard deviation using current maps.

Introduction: The vulnerability of white matter (WM) in acute and chronic moderate-severe traumatic brain injury (TBI) has been established. In concussion syndromes, including preclinical rodent models, lacking are comprehensive longitudinal studies spanning the mouse lifespan. We previously reported early WM modifications using clinically relevant neuroimaging and histological measures in a model of juvenile concussion at one month post injury (mpi) who then exhibited cognitive deficits at 12mpi.

Background: Lateral malleolar avulsion fracture (LMAF) and subfibular ossicle (SFO) are distinct entities that both present as small bone fragments near the lateral malleolus on imaging, yet require different treatment strategies. Clinical and radiological differentiation is challenging, which can impede timely and precise management. On imaging, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is the diagnostic gold standard for differentiating LMAF from SFO, whereas radiological differentiation on computed tomography (CT) alone is challenging in routine practice.
