polysaccharide (DSPS) is the main natural compound extracted from the traditional Chinese herb . Although DSPS is well-known for its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, its impact on aflatoxin B1 (AFB1)-induced damage has not been explored. This study aims to investigate the potential protective mechanisms of DSPS against AFB1-induced liver damage and immune disorders. The experiment lasted a total of three weeks, during which 120 rabbits were randomly assigned to six groups ( = 20). AFB1 and DSPS were incorporated into the diets of each group. We found that DSPS significantly inhibited AFB1-induced hepatocyte edema, inflammatory cell infiltration, and increased serum aspartate aminotransferase (AST)/ alanine aminotransferase (ALT) levels ( < 0.05). DSPS alleviated oxidative damage by downregulating CYP1A1/A2 mRNA, enhancing liver total antioxidant capacity (T-AOC), superoxide dismutase (SOD), and glutathione (GSH) levels, and reducing the production of reactive oxygen species (ROS) and malondialdehyde (MDA) ( < 0.05). DSPS inhibits the expression of cytochrome c (cyt.c), caspase 9, and caspase 3, significantly reducing the apoptosis rate of hepatocytes ( < 0.05). Additionally, DSPS elevates the levels of immunoglobulins (IgA, IgG, IgM) and interferon-gamma (IFN-γ), while decreasing the concentration of IL-4 ( < 0.05). This study demonstrates that DSPS can alleviate AFB1-induced damage, with the underlying mechanisms likely related to enhanced antioxidant capacity, inhibition of oxidative stress, and intrinsic apoptotic pathways, as well as improved immune responses.

Dynamin superfamily proteins (DSPs) are large GTPases that play crucial roles in membrane remodeling processes, including vesicle uptake, mitochondrial fission, and opposing fusion events. Among them, dynamin and dynamin-related protein 1 (Drp1) share a conserved domain architecture, yet exhibit unique structural and regulatory features that tailor their functions. This review explores the conformational rearrangements of the mammalian fission DSPs, dynamin and Drp1, focusing on their dimeric and tetrameric structures, lipid-bound assemblies, and key regulatory elements that drive membrane constriction.

Objectives: Bacterial-derived secondary caries is a primary cause of dental treatment failure at the artificial material-tissue interface. We previously developed ultra-long-term antimicrobial/antidegradative drug-silica particles (DSPs) to counter this interfacial failure. The aim of the current study was to evaluate a novel DSP-filled-adhesive system via in vitro and in vivo (rat) anti-secondary-caries studies.

Silk proteins, such as silk sericin (SS) and silk fibroin (SF), have been shown to exhibit excellent biocompatibility, biodegradability, and low immunogenicity as drug delivery carriers. SS possesses antioxidant and anticancer adjuvant properties, whereas SF provides mechanical strength and structural stability, marking them as optimal materials for drug delivery systems. In this study, 3 μm discoidal silk protein particles (DSPs) based on silk sericin/silk fibroin (SS/SF) composites were developed for the loading of docetaxel (DTX).

Background: Direct support professionals (DSPs) often play a critical role in supporting healthcare interactions for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) but little is known about their experience supporting virtual healthcare.
Objective: This study explored utilization of virtual care and DSP experiences of supporting virtual care at four time points in Ontario, Canada.
Methods: DSPs in Ontario were invited to participate in an online survey in 2020 (n = 867), 2021 (n = 428), 2022 (n = 698) and 2023 (n = 603).
