The visual perception and steering behavior of drivers are known to be influenced by environmental lighting, but the underlying perception mechanisms, particularly the role of optical flow under low-luminance conditions, remain insufficiently understood. In a simulated driving experiment, 32 participants were exposed to five controlled luminance levels while their eye movements and driving performance were recorded. The results indicate that lower environmental luminance leads to prolonged gaze duration, a wider distribution of gaze points, and an increase in lateral steering errors. At moderate luminance, drivers exhibited enhanced optical flow perception and improved steering accuracy. However, under low luminance, degraded optical flow weakened the coupling between gaze and self-motion, caused a misalignment between gaze and vehicle motion, leading to reduced steering accuracy. These findings advance previous work by demonstrating that luminance not only affects gaze behavior but also modulates visual perception through its impact on optical flow processing. These insights may support the development of adaptive driver training programs and human-centered driver assistance systems that respond to perceptual challenges in low-luminance environments.

Background: Lung ischemia-reperfusion injury (LIRI) is a pathological condition characterized by aggravated oxidative-inflammatory tissue damage that occurs upon blood flow restoration after ischemia. LIRI can lead to severe complications, including primary graft dysfunction in lung transplants and multi-organ failure. However, current treatments remain limited.

Background: The VWF Phe2561Tyr variant has been previously shown to exhibit gain-of-function like activity and increase the risk of repeated MI in patients below 55 years of age. It was hypothesised that altered stem dynamics enhanced the responsiveness of the molecule to shear stress. In this study we investigated the evolutionary significance of the amino acid at position 2561 and functional impacts of variants at this site.

Ethnopharmacological Relevance: Fujian Tablet (FJT), a traditional Chinese herbal compound formulation developed under the theoretical framework of "nourishing the liver and kidney, replenishing essence and marrow" , has been clinically applied for over two decades to treat post-stroke neurological deficits. Preliminary studies demonstrated its efficacy in improving motor function and promoting cervical spinal cord neuroaxonal growth in a middle cerebral artery occlusion (MCAO) rat model. Building upon these findings, this study integrates metabolomic evidence of Foxo3a-GPX4 axis activation to systematically elucidate Fujian Tablet's neurorestorative mechanisms through three interconnected pathways: regulation of ferroptosis, promotion of oligodendrocyte proliferation, and remyelination.

Purpose: To analyze macular microvascular networks and investigate correlations between visual acuity and quantitative parameters in patients with Leber's hereditary optic neuropathy (LHON) using optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA).
Methods: An observational, cross-sectional study was conducted, including 25 eyes from 25 genetically confirmed chronic LHON patients and 25 eyes from 25 age-matched healthy controls. Images were obtained using a spectral domain OCTA system.

This study introduces the HydroTherm-Flow Smart Window (HTF Window), the first groundbreaking integration of thermochromic windows and Fe-Cr redox flow batteries (Fe-Cr RFBs), achieving dual functionalities of dynamic solar modulation-via dual-band (visible + near-infrared, NIR) modulation-and high-efficiency energy storage in a single component. Leveraging tunable hydroxypropyl cellulose (HPC) hydrogels, it enables ultrafast optical switching and autonomous nighttime opacity, overcoming the slow response and privacy limitations of conventional thermochromic systems. By repurposing the window as a compact electrolyte reservoir, it reduces the RFB spatial footprint while enhancing ionic conductivity by 30% via hydrogel "ion highways," achieving 77% energy efficiency with a 40% reduction in the solar heat gain coefficient.
