Article Abstract

Three new irregular terpenoids, gentianellins A-C (1-3), along with two known analogues (4 and 5), were isolated from the whole plants of the medicinal herb Gentianella pygmaea. Their structures were elucidated by extensive spectroscopic analysis (1D and 2D NMR and HRMS) and quantum chemical calculations. Moderate anti-inflammatory activity of the new isolates was observed via suppressing the secretion of cytokines TNF-α and IL-6 in LPS-induced macrophages RAW264.7, with IC values ranging from 13.30 to 25.41 µM, respectively.

Lavandulol, the primary chemical constituent of lavender essential oil, is an irregular monoterpene present in . It has been employed in the spice and cosmetic industries owing to its pleasing aromatic properties. In addition, its efficacy as an inhibitor of insect mating behaviour has led to incorporation within synthetic pheromone formulations.

Neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NAC) with docetaxel, cisplatin, and 5-fluorouracil (DCF) is highly effective for advanced esophageal squamous cell carcinoma, and patients with a good response sometimes desire to avoid surgery. The aim of this single-center, retrospective study was to predict the probability of residual tumors using a newly devised scoring system and identify conditions that may obviate the need for surgery. Between January 2017 and March 2024, 106 patients received NAC with DCF, followed by radical resection at our institution.

Alternaria alternata, a devastating fungal pathogen responsible for leaf spot diseases and postharvest rot across over 380 plant species, poses significant agricultural threats worldwide. Carvacrol, a plant-derived phenolic compound, exhibits robust antifungal properties, yet its biofumigation efficacy and molecular mode of action against A. alternata remain poorly characterized.

Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), a complex endocrine-metabolic disorder characterized by hyperandrogenism, polycystic ovarian morphology, and ovulatory dysfunction, is often associated with insulin resistance. Mogroside-rich extract (MGE) from Siraitia grosvenorii possesses significant anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. However, its potential to restore intestinal microbial homeostasis and metabolic balance in PCOS and the underlying mechanisms remain unexplored.
