Article Abstract

In this paper, a four-channel demultiplexer based on photonic crystals with an ultra-high quality factor is realized by simulation. The plane-wave expansion and finite element method are used to characterize the photonic band structure and investigate the optical propagation behaviors, respectively. Through optimizing the resonator structure and material parameters, the ultra-high quality factor of 9082 can be obtained. Furthermore, using the designed resonator, the average quality factor of the four-channel demultiplexer can be realized as high as 8901. In addition, the footprint of the device is 324µ, the average channel spacing is 0.77 nm, the crosstalk between channels has values from -9.9 to 30.1 dB, and the average transmission is 88.86%. Particularly, the average is 0.17 nm, which leads to the ultra-high quality factor. The ultra-high quality factor makes the proposed demultiplexer promising for future on-chip optical integration.

Our previous work identified p3-interacting protein (P3IP) as a novel plant factor that interacts with rice stripe virus p3 protein and activates autophagy to mediate its degradation, thereby restricting infection. However, the mechanism of P3IP-mediated autophagy and the evolutionary conservation of its antiviral function remain unknown. This study demonstrates that two Arabidopsis thaliana homologs, AtP3IP and AtP3IPH (Arabidopsis P3IP homologs, AtP3IPs), similarly activate autophagy and confer resistance to turnip mosaic virus (TuMV).

Chiral halide perovskite (c-HP) semiconductors exhibit on average a large chiral-induced spin selectivity (CISS) effect. Nevertheless, the microscopic details of CISS and its integration in opto-spintronic constructs remain nascent. Reliable reporting of CISS performance characteristics represents a significant challenge in providing the necessary design rules.

Anemia and iron deficiency (ID) are common and significant complications in kidney transplant recipients (KTRs) that can affect their health-related quality of life (HRQoL) and outcomes. Current anemia guidelines equate the post-transplant situation with the anemia associated with chronic kidney disease (CKD) in non-transplanted persons, not acknowledging relevant differences ranging from pathophysiology to clinical manifestation. Nephrologists caring for these patients tend to pay less attention to post-transplant anemia (PTA) and ID than in non-transplanted persons with CKD.

Background: Global evidence has observed that individuals with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) are at a heightened risk of experiencing psychiatric disorders, which often coincide with a decrease in their quality of life.

Objective: To assess the prevalence of anxiety and depression symptoms and associated factors among patients with IBD.

Methods: An institutional-based cross-sectional study was conducted at Tikur Anbesa Specialized Hospital and Adera Medical Center.

Background And Aim: The () gene is recognized as a critical regulator of ovarian function and fertility in cattle. However, its role in crossbred populations, particularly Madrasin cattle (Madura × Simmental cross), remains underexplored. Understanding the genetic underpinnings of fertility traits in this crossbreed could provide valuable insights for improving reproductive efficiency in Indonesia's livestock sector.
