Gallium-based liquid metals are promising for stretchable electronics due to their inherent deformability and excellent conductivity. However, the lack of a scalable and automated fabrication process has limited their practical applications. This study introduces a two-step method to create liquid metal emulsion gels suitable for 3D printing, characterized by densely packed liquid metal microcapsules within polymer matrices. The resulting emulsion gel demonstrates favorable rheological properties for 3D printing and minimal shrinkage through solidification. With a substantial fraction of sizable microcapsules, the printed features can be activated into compliant conductors with exceptional conductivity of ≈2.2× 10 S cm and an ultrahigh stretchability of up to ≈1000% strain. Stretchable lighting emitting diode displays and near field communication tags are successfully fabricated through 3D printing to demonstrate the practicality of liquid metal microcapsule gels. These developments provide a versatile platform to design liquid metal inks for printed stretchable electronics.

Electric droplet sorting is widely applied in the screening of target molecules, cells, drugs, and microparticles. Previous studies have made several optimizations on the electrode materials, structures, and arrangements. However, voltages of over 1 kV are required to realize droplet sorting, which causes the undesired droplet splitting.

All-solid-state batteries (ASSBs) utilizing solid electrolytes, which replace flammable liquid electrolytes, are regarded as one of the most promising prospective energy storage devices due to their inherent safety advantages and high energy density potential. As an emerging class of electrolytes for ASSBs, hydridoborates have attracted research interest because of their attractive material properties, including superior compatibility with metal anodes, low gravimetric density, and excellent solution processability. In this review, hydridoborate-based solid electrolytes (SEs) for all-solid-state batteries, including boranuide-based SEs, arachno-hydridoborate-based SEs, nido-hydridoborate-based SEs, closo-hydridoborate-based SEs, and conjuncto-hydridoborate-based SEs, are comprehensively summarized.

Background: Zinc (Zn) and cadmium (Cd) ions are ubiquitous in industrial and daily life. Despite their critical impact on food safety and human health, current probes face significant limitations in simultaneously detecting both ions in complex food matrices.
Results: Herein, we successfully developed a pyrene-based FRET ratiometric fluorescent probe QP for the highly selective detection of Zn and Cd.

Background: Previous studies involving cleanup via conventional solid-phase extraction (SPE) materials to overcome matrix effects for the polar organophosphonate and -phosphinate pesticides glyphosate, glufosinate, ethephon, fosetyl, and their various metabolites often showed limitations due to the existence of various matrix compounds in plant commodities with similar polarity. To overcome existing drawbacks, we utilized the unique selectivity provided by metal oxides as SPE materials. These were exploited in a novel automated online SPE-LC-MS/MS method which allowed analyte-specific trapping in the presence of excessive amounts of matrix compounds as typically contained in extracts of the Quick Polar Pesticides (QuPPe) method.

Carbon-based catalysts with free-standing structure are essential for rechargeable zinc-air battery as electrodes, which can avoid the side effects brought by organic binder. However, the current preparation methods still can be improved for faster preparation process and morphology control. In this study, we reported a fabrication strategy of self-standing carbon catalyst loaded with CoFe nanoparticles and carbon nanotube as air electrodes for liquid rechargeable zinc-air battery.
