Article Abstract

Half-metallicity and negative Poisson's ratio (NPR) are critical physical properties of two-dimensional (2D) materials. In this work, using first-principles calculations, we predicted a new class of stable 2D non-planar materials VOX (X = F, Cl, Br, I) that exhibit both half-metallicity and NPR characteristics. Among these, the VOF monolayer achieves an impressive NPR of -1.47, followed by VOBr (-0.318) and VOI (-0.232), respectively. Our calculations reveal that 2D VOX (X = F, Cl, Br, I) are promising half-metals with significant exchange splitting and robust ferromagnetic or antiferromagnetic ordering. Notably, multiple single-spin Dirac cones are observed in the electronic band structures of these 2D materials. Using Monte Carlo simulations based on the Heisenberg model, we determine the Néel temperature () of VOBr to be 290 K, slightly below room temperature. For VOF and VOI, the Curie temperatures () are identified as 232 K and 118 K, respectively. This work positions VOX (X = F, Cl, Br, I) as a promising material platform for auxetic flexible electronics and spintronic devices.

Background: Accurate prediction of lung tumor motion and deformation (LTMD) is essential for precise radiotherapy. However, existing models often rely on static, population-based material parameters, overlooking patient-specific and time-varying lung biomechanics. Personalized dynamic models that capture temporal changes in lung elasticity are needed to improve LTMD prediction and guide treatment planning more effectively.

Two-dimensional (2D) materials with novel mechanical behaviors and electronic characteristics have attracted extensive attention in multiple cutting-edge fields in recent years. Based on first-principles calculations, we systematically investigate the mechanical properties and electronic characteristics of transition metal oxyhalide TiOBr in this work. Results demonstrate that the TiOBr monolayer exhibits metallic characteristics with Dirac points located above the Fermi level.

Research on the Poisson's Ratio of Black Phosphorene Nanotubes Under Axial Tension.

Nanomaterials (Basel)

School of Physics and Optoelectronics, Xiangtan University, Xiangtan 411105, China.

In this paper, the Poisson's ratio of black phosphorene nanotubes was examined through the molecular dynamics simulation method. Our research discovered that for the armchair black phosphorene nanotubes, the radial strain and the wall thickness strain are negatively linearly correlated with the axial strain, and both the radial Poisson's ratio and the thickness Poisson's ratio are positive. For the zigzag black phosphorene nanotubes, the wall thickness strain is negatively, linearly correlated with the axial strain, while the radial strain has a cubic polynomial function relationship with the axial strain.

Clinical Application of 3D-Printed Custom Hemipelvic Prostheses With Re-Entrant Chiral Structure in Reconstruction After Pelvic Tumor Resection.

Orthop Surg

August 2025

Department of Orthopedic Surgery and Orthopedic Research Institute, West China Hospital, Sichuan University, Chengdu, Sichuan, China.

Objectives: Pelvic reconstruction with conventional 3D-printed prostheses faces a critical trade-off, where achieving sufficient porosity for optimal bone ingrowth often compromises essential mechanical stability. To address this challenge, this study evaluates the clinical outcomes of 3D-printed hemipelvic prostheses incorporating re-entrant chiral structure (RCS), a novel negative Poisson's ratio design, in patients undergoing pelvic reconstruction following tumor resection.

Methods: A retrospective analysis was conducted on 15 patients (eight females and seven males; mean age: 39.
