Article Abstract

Three new diterpenes, named pinusins D-F (-), were isolated from the Chinese medicine "" (the dried tuberculate or branched nodes of ), along with twelve known diterpenes. The structures of these new compounds were determined using detailed spectroscopic methods and ECD calculations. Compounds - displayed moderate hepatoprotective activity against HO-induced oxidative damage in HepG2 cells, while compounds - exhibited markedly enhanced efficacy -surpassing that of bicyclol (positive control).

Ethnopharmacological Relevance: Olibanum, a precious traditional Chinese medicine, has been utilized in China for millennia. It has historically been used to treat various pain disorders caused by qi stagnation and blood stasis, such as rheumatic arthralgia, chronic abdominal pain, gastric pain, and angina pectoris, as well as intestinal abscess, deafness, and insomnia.

Aim Of The Study: Dedicated to evaluating the current research status of Olibanum, encompassing traditional medicinal uses, chemical composition, pharmacological effects, clinical trials, and safety assessments, to comprehensively understand its development progress and provide guidance for future research directions.

Five undescribed clerodane and one labdane diterpenoids (1-6), together with six known diterpenoids (7-12), were isolated from the leaves of Callicarpa formosana Rolfe. Their structures were elucidated by HR-ESI-MS, NMR and ECD spectral data. The bioactivity screening showed (2R,5R,8S,9R,10S)-2-ethoxy-kolavic acid 15-methyl ester (4) displayed anti-inflammatory activity in vivo.

Tanshinone IIA attenuates hepatic stellate cell activation, oxidative stress, and liver fibrosis by inhibiting YAP signaling.

Division of Liver Surgery, Department of General Surgery and Regeneration Medicine Research Center, West China Hospital of Sichuan University, Chengdu, Sichuan.

Tanshinone IIA is derived from Salvia miltiorrhiza and has multiple therapeutic targets and functions. The exact therapeutic effects on liver fibrosis as well as the underlying hepatoprotective mechanisms are still lacking. A liver fibrosis model was established via ligation of the common bile duct ligation (BDL).

Acute liver failure (ALF) represents a critical medical condition marked by the abrupt onset of hepatocyte damage, commonly induced by etiological factors such as hepatic ischemia/reperfusion injury (HIRI) and drug-induced hepatotoxicity. Across various types of liver injury, oxidative stress, heightened inflammatory responses, and dysregulated hepatic retinol metabolism are pivotal contributors, particularly in the context of excessive reactive oxygen species (ROS). C-dots were combined with CuO USNPs to synthesize a cost-effective nanozyme, CuO@CNDs, which mimics the activity of cascade enzymes.
