Purpose: Calumenin (CALU) is a calcium-binding protein involved in several physiological processes, exhibiting tumor-specific expression variation and emerging as a potential player in cancer progression. This study aimed to investigate the correlation between CALU and clinicopathological features in breast cancer (BC) and perform a functional assessment of CALU based on a microRNA-mediated knockdown approach.
Methods: The BC tissues' CALU expression was measured by q-RT-PCR.

GNE myopathy is an autosomal recessive distal myopathy resulting from biallelic pathogenic variants in the GNE gene, a key enzyme in sialic acid biosynthesis. Although most pathogenic variants are missense variants, recent advances have enabled the identification of copy number variations, deep intronic variants, and regulatory changes in the promoter region, significantly enhancing diagnostic accuracy. Progress in genetic diagnostics now allows detection of rare and complex variants.

In cells, inhibiting O6-Methylguanine-DNA-Methyltransferase (MGMT) abolished time-dependent TMZ efficacy, suggesting that circadian regulation of this DNA repair enzyme underlies daily TMZ sensitivity. Here, we tested the hypotheses that MGMT-promoter methylation and protein abundance vary with time-of-day in GBM, resulting in daily rhythms in TMZ efficacy.

Amino acids, which serve as the main source of organic nitrogen, are typically transported within plants via amino acid transporter proteins. In this research, we discovered haplotype variations in the promoter sequence of amino acid transporter OsAAP8 among rice germplasm resources. Notably, we observed that OsAAP8 expression was significantly elevated in indica rice varieties.
