Following activation, naive T cells exit quiescence and require global translation for rapid expansion, yet the underlying mechanisms remain unclear. Here, we show that during T cell activation, cells upregulate the expression of N-acetyltransferase 10 (NAT10), an enzyme responsible for N-acetylcytidine (acC) modification of mRNAs. acC-modified Myc mRNAs show higher translation efficiency, enabling rapid synthesis of MYC protein and supporting robust T cell expansion. Conditional deletion of Nat10 in mouse T cells causes severe cell cycle arrest and limitation of cell expansion due to MYC deficiency, ultimately exacerbating infection in an acute lymphocytic choriomeningitis virus model. Additionally, T cells from older individuals with lower NAT10 levels show proliferative defects, which may partially account for impaired antiviral responses in older individuals. This study reveals a mechanism governing T cell expansion, signal-dependent mRNA degradation induction and the potential in vivo biological significance of acC modification in T cell-mediated immune responses.

Injections have been linked to feline sarcomas (feline injection-site sarcoma; FISS) and cutaneous lymphomas (cutaneous lymphoma at injection site; CLIS). Both tumors often exhibit lymphoplasmacytic inflammation ascribed to injected immunogenic material. CLIS is hypothesized to emerge from transformation and clonal expansion of lymphoid cells following persistent immune stimulation with feline leukemia virus (FeLV) reactivation and transformation.

Background: Dysregulation of polyamine synthesis has been observed in various cancer cell types. A novel approach to depriving cancer cells of polyamines involves the use of difluoromethylornithine (DFMO) to block polyamine biosynthesis in combination with AMXT 1501, a potent inhibitor of polyamine transport. Preclinical mouse tumor models showed that the combination of AMXT 1501 plus DFMO had strong antitumor activity, together with evidence of a stimulated immune response against tumors.

The emergence of special scenarios involving small-sized penetrating wounds has imposed stricter performance requirements on shape-recovery hemostatic materials, particularly regarding their shape fixity and water-triggered shape recovery efficiency. Herein, an efficient shape-recovery sponge dressing with high shape fixity and high-speed liquid absorption, designated as CQT, was developed by integrating a sieve structure with the rough surface coating. The sieve structure, characterized by microporous structures on macroporous walls, enhanced the multi-level and connectivity of the overall pore network, which could improve compressive fixity via enhancing the energy dissipation required for rebound and enabled efficient shape recovery through augmented capillary action during fluid absorption.

Tumour growth involves dynamic interactions among tumour cells, extracellular materials, and host tissue. The tumour exerts mechanical stresses on the host tissue and simultaneously experiences compression across the tumour-host interface. This article presents a mathematical model that mimics an in vivo set-up, where an avascular tumour is surrounded by healthy/normal tissue, utilizing conservation principles for the constituents in each region.
