Zona pellucida glycoprotein-1 (ZP1) is essential for maintaining oocyte structural integrity and facilitating fertilization. Mutations in are strongly associated with primary infertility disorders such as fertilization failure and empty follicle syndrome; however, the absence of accurate experimental models has hindered mechanistic understanding and obscured the etiological basis of -related infertility. In this study, CRISPR/Cas9-mediated genome editing was employed to generate two -edited cynomolgus macaques ( ), designated #ZP1-1 (male) and #ZP1-2 (female).

Black pod disease, caused by a complex of Phytophthora species, poses a severe threat to global cacao production. This study explores the use of CRISPR-Cas9 genome editing to reduce disease susceptibility in Theobroma cacao L. by targeting the TcNPR3 gene, a known negative regulator of plant defence.

Diacylglycerol kinase gene Dgkh deficiency disrupts testicular lipid balance in male mice without affecting fertility.

Reproduction

October 2025

State Key Laboratory of Reproductive Medicine and Offspring Health, The Affiliated Taizhou People's Hospital of Nanjing Medical University, Taizhou School of Clinical Medicine, Nanjing Medical University, Nanjing, China.

In Brief: Lipid homeostasis is vital for maintaining testicular function and male fertility, but the specific contributions of lipid-regulating enzymes remain unclear. This study shows that DGKη, although highly expressed in the testis, is not essential for spermatogenesis but modulates testicular lipid metabolism in response to dietary conditions.

Abstract: Diacylglycerol kinase eta (DGKη), encoded by the Dgkh gene, catalyzes the phosphorylation of diacylglycerol to phosphatidic acid, both of which are key lipid second messengers.

The pH-responsive regulator PlPacC and GATA transcription factor PlAreB are involved in the regulation of the biosynthesis of the antifungal lipopeptaibols leucinostatins in Purpureocillium lilacinum.

Microbiol Res

August 2025

Microbial Processes and Interactions (MiPI), TERRA Teaching and Research Centre, Joint Research Unit 1158 BioEcoAgro, Gembloux Agro-Bio Tech, University of Liège, Gembloux 5030, Belgium. Electronic address:

The biocontrol fungus Purpureocillium lilacinum PLBJ-1 produces leucinostatins, a class of non-ribosomal peptides (NRPs) with broad-spectrum antimicrobial activities. However, the molecular mechanisms underlying the optimization of culture conditions for leucinostatin production remain unexplored. Previous research showed that PLBJ-1 synthesizes leucinostatins more effectively in hand-made Potato Dextrose Broth (PDB-M) than in commercially available PDB (PDB-C).

Background: Benzene, a ubiquitous industrial chemical, is a well-established environmental toxin associated with hematological disorders such as myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS) and acute myeloid leukemia (AML), which are characterized by impaired hematopoiesis and bone marrow failure. This study investigates the role of ferroptosis, an iron-dependent form of cell death, in benzene-induced hematotoxicity, focusing on the repression of glutathione peroxidase 4 (GPX4), a critical regulator of ferroptosis.

Materials And Methods: Male C57BL/6 mice were exposed to benzene at various doses over six weeks.
