Remnant cholesterol, identified by triglyceride-rich lipoprotein, is a significant causal risk factor for ischemic heart diseases. The association of triglyceride levels with all-cause and cause-specific outcomes in heart failure (HF) remains unexplored. Using a previously validated territory-wide clinical information registry, all eligible patients diagnosed with HF (N = 127124) from 2000 to 2020 were included. In this population-based cohort (mean age: 71.4 ± 12.2 years, 51.8% male), the association between triglyceride levels and risk of all-cause mortality and cardiovascular disease was a U-shapedḍ curve. High triglyceride levels (≥3.0 mmol/L) were associated with atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease admission or death; conversely, lower triglyceride levels (<1.2 mmol/L) were associated with higher risks of HF readmission or death. The risk of adjusted all-cause mortality reached a nadir between triglyceride levels of 1.2 mmol/L and 3.0 mmol/L. Results were externally validated in BIOSTAT-CHF. Our findings have important implications for defining the role of triglyceride levels in contributing to the diverse outcomes in patients with HF.

Objectives: This study aims to assess periodontal and biochemical parameters and evaluate the salivary Protectin D1 levels in periodontitis patients with and without metabolic syndrome after non-surgical periodontal therapy.
Materials And Methods: Forty patients were categorized into two groups: 20 patients in Group P (systemically healthy patients with stage II/III grade B periodontitis) and 20 patients in Group P+MS (patients with stage II/III grade B periodontitis and metabolic syndrome). Parameters including age, gender, height, weight, body mass index, waist circumference, socio-economic status, oral hygiene index (OHI), modified gingival index (MGI), probing pocket depth, clinical attachment levels, fasting blood glucose, HDL-c, total triglycerides, and blood pressure were recorded.

The four-and-a-half LIM domain protein 2 (FHL2) is a conserved transcriptional co-regulator critical for vertebrate development and metabolism, yet its roles in arthropods remain poorly understood. Here, we report the functional characterization of LmFHL2 in the migratory locust Locusta migratoria, a devastating pest reliant on precise molting cycles for growth and swarming. Phylogenetic and expression analyses revealed high conservation of LmFHL2 across insects, with predominant expression in integument and gut tissues.

This study investigated the effect of fermented feed on the lipid composition and volatile flavor compounds of pasteurized duck egg yolks using comprehensive two-dimensional gas chromatography-time-of-flight mass spectrometry and lipidomics. Fermented feed significantly reduced off-odor intensity of egg yolks, as confirmed by sensory evaluation, compared to the control group. Ninety-four volatile compounds were identified, with thirty-two showing significant differences between the two groups (p < 0.

Introduction: The increasing use of biodegradable plastics has led to the inevitable human consumption of biodegradable microplastics (MPs). These MPs can be degraded and absorbed into various organs and tissues via the gastrointestinal tract, with the liver being the primary target for digestion and absorption.
Objectives: This study aimed to investigate the toxic effects and mechanisms of biodegradable MPs on the liver following gastrointestinal degradation.
